The days parade by
Wearing clown makeup,
Cartwheeling past
In harlequin bells,
Aiming pies at me,
The Great Joke.
Still out of step,
I lift a leaden limb
Toward tomorrow
Once again,
To follow a folly
All my own,
Where be my jibes,
My gambols,
And my songs.
*As ever, thank you W.S. for an ever-replenishing well of inspiration.
