Whine, Whine, Whine!

I hate to wallow in self pitty but it SUCKS when you are feeling sick.

I woke up this morning with a killer sore throat. I called my boss to tell him I wouldn't be in and I would be rescheduling some meetings I had planned for the day. He says "Be sure you are better bfore you come back I don't want to get sick!" Great sympathy!

I called the doctor's office but they told me "We are too busy and you haven't been sick enough, long enough. Call back tomorrow if you don't feel any better!" Great!

Now my damned cell phone is constantly ringing with people calling from work...."Can we use this film on this job? What coating weight does this adhesive use?" This film's out of spec, can we us it anyway"?

I should have just went to friggin work and infected everyone! If I don't feel better tomorrow I'm going into work, licking everyone's phone and then calling the doctor!

At least my sweet wife cares about me and keeps calling to see if I'm ok or if I need anything.

We all need at least one person to be concerned about us no matter what.

Profile Rating..What are people thinking???

02:09 Jan 30 2007
Times Read: 694

Every day I rate the new Whelps. I try to be generous in my rating, realizing that they are new and may not know what they are doing. The exception are people who obnoxiously put derogatory verbage in their profile.

I believe that some people mindlessly give 10s to any Whelp they rate. I don't think they even bother to read what is in the profile.

An example of a new profile:

Quote:"FUK U"

Profile content:

"If u wnt no msg me"

Rating given (By people who should know WAY better).

Great profile ~10~

WTF?

I have also begun to rate profiles from the oldest to the newest. So, a rate I saw on the profile of a Master Vampire who has been part of VR for 3 years......

"Welcome to VR, enjoy your stay"

Again...WTF?

People PLEASE read a profile before you rate it! Rating is only 10% of level advancement, TIME is 50%, take the time to read!

A brave effort

I just read that the veterinarians at the U-Penn New Bolton Center euthanized Barbaro. He put up quite a fight but was unable to recover from the injury he sustained during the Preakness Stakes race.

I mourn the loss of this brave steed.

False Start

That whole “summarize the week” thing sure didn’t last long!

Instead I shall try to come and put my random thoughts, activities of interest (at least to me) and rants & raves here in an irregular, but more frequent basis.

This is how several of the folks whose journals I read often and admire do it, so I will steal a bit of their secret for success. Hopefully I can also exhibit some fraction of their wit and intelligence also.

Last week in the life of KCRC Week Ending 1/13/2007

02:59 Jan 15 2007
Times Read: 716

I've decided to start off my VR journal by writing a synopsis of each week’s events. Perhaps I will revise this plan in the future.

Sunday 1/7/2007: A relatively quiet day. I worked the sound board for the “Contemporary” service at church. I had a rough time as someone had messed with all the gain settings and monitor assignments. We sang a relatively unremarkable Anthem in choir. Spent the rest of the day planted on the couch!

Monday 1/8/2007: What a great day! I was inducted into House Eternal. I am so excited to be in this House. This makes up for the crappy day at work. Too many meetings and no time to actually do any work.

Tuesday 1/9/2007: Decent day at work. I had a meeting with the HR manager, my boss and his boss regarding someone we interviewed to work for me. My two bosses liked him while the HR director and I thought he was too aloof and would not “play well with others”. We’ll see what happens. I had a Session Meeting at church. (A Session is the board of ruling elders in a Presbyterian church). As usual it was LONG and contentious.

Wednesday 1/10/2007: I had to go into work early to meet with an employee on 3rd shift who works for me. He blew off the meeting and went home. It won’t be pretty when I do see him. When I got home from work the kilt I had ordered to wear to the Dracula’s Ball had arrived. It’s very cool, but I’m a little apprehensive about wearing it. Had choir practice which went fairly well.

Thursday 1/11/2007: I had to take an extended lunch break today to sing with choir at a funeral service. A woman who was a long time member of the church was out with her grandchildren on Saturday afternoon at the movies. She was feeling odd and collapsed. An ambulance took her to the local hospital where they air-evaced her to another hospital in Philadelphia. She had suffered a massive stroke and they were not able to revive her. It just goes to show you that you never know when your time may come. Our church band played a concert at a retirement home in the evening which went really well.

Friday 1/12/2007: Work sucked. Had a long phone conference call with our other plant. They are constantly asking for help, which means I have to fly off to the middle of nowhere and see what’s up. I tell them how to fix the issue and they ignore the advice. Then a month or so later we have to send someone else out there to physically do the things they were told. So I had to sit through the phone call and then sit for another hour while the Director of Operations bitches about the people at the other plant. One of these days instead of biting my tongue I’m going to say what I’m thinking. “Why don’t you fire them?”

Saturday 1/13/2007: Woke up late YEAH! Went grocery shopping and to the mall to pick up a few things the Girls need before they return to school. Came home, made dinner and got ready to go out. We got down to Philadelphia for the Dracula’s Ball just as the club was opening. We saw Erebus waiting in line ahead of us. Once we got in we headed downstairs and met up with Erebus. We talked for a while and then headed up to see the Cesium 137 set. They were very good and played a great set. After Cesium 137 we headed back downstairs. Gina and I were headed to the dance floor when we saw Ankhenanset and her merry band. We had a great time talking and almost forgot to head up to the Bella Morte set. They were awesome. They really put on a great show. Unfortunately we stood right in front of a bank of speakers, so my ears are still ringing.
