CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, works in Child Abuse and Neglect cases once a child has been removed from the home. Our job is to be an extra set of eyes and ears for the court on what really goes on in the child's life. The biggest part of that is determining whether it is safe to return the child to the parents or if the parental rights should be revoked and to find a permanent place for the child to live. Foster care is far from the answer to this because the child bounces from one home to the next; therefore, our job is to find a relative or someone that is normally in the child's life that can take them in.
