Playing with a new program I found online, its called 2000cal.com. (yes its free to sign up for, no fees) Since I was told that I needed to be around 2000 calories to loose weight, I was like sure...I will try it. So, for a week, I tracked what I ate and drank. I was pleased to see that I generally didn't hit over 2200 calories in a day. I liked seeing what Vitamins I had consumed and where I was lacking.

It logs everything you eat, not only giving you the calories but also the vitamins and nutrients, proteins and carbs you have used. It has alot of the foods you buy in the grocery store, but if they don't, simply enter it in, along with all the label information. (Sneaky how they get you to look at the labels)

Since it has been recommended that I try a couple more vitamins, I entered in my supplement information from the vitamins and then my breakfast.

Breakfast was 482 calories, with the most calories coming from my OJ with Calcium. Oh well, I want to bump up my calcium, Vitamin D, Vitamin C and other things.

Already, my Vitamin C is at 187% for the recommended daily allowance. Simply from the OJ and my Calcium pill. My Vitamin D is at 135% and my Calcium is at 105%.

Unfortunately, my carbs are still on the high side, but I can work on that, now that I know. I thought I was having a high protein breakfast, but overdosing on the OJ was what hit me with all the carbs. So, only one glass of OJ should help it out. Now to watch out for the hidden fats...hmmmmmmm.

This program also allows you to enter in your activity for the day....I haven't used that part of the program yet, but I will do that today. I has a chart that will tell you how many calories you have burned, depending what you do. I wonder if I can add in cleaning a house, or a bathroom, as exercise lol. I might go over to the gym and try the cross country ski machine and see how I do. I would walk, but it seems to be snowing. BRRRRRR!!!

One thing I try to do is eat less, but more frequently. That keeps the stomach working, which in turn helps raise one's metabolism. That causes your body to use up more of your reserves. It doesn't just happen right away, which is why most people give up after no results, but if you dedicate yourself it is possible.

Still it would be fascinating to know what my intake consists of, because I start out every day (this may sound boring) with a bowl of oatmeal (two packets) with cranberry juice (sugar-reduced light kind) with which I down my one-a-day-mens vitamins and fish-oil pills (for my heart) and my glucosamine-chondroitin pills (for my joints).

Then at lunch at work I usually eat a part of one of those $5 sub's. I get the turkey sandwich on wheat. Get that at Walmart of all places. $5 a week for that... not bad at all on the wallet. :) Add to that some diet Arizona Green Tea flat of bottles which lasts 2 weeks, comes to about $7.50 per week for lunch costs. Fast food places charge that per day here. Most people that I know don't like the idea of 'old-food' (anything older than 6 hours old, lol). They don't realize that if properly re-packaged and refrigerated they could have a meal last longer for a LOT cheaper too. Well, if they won't listen to me, it's their loss.

For dinner, I eat either, something pasta with steamed veggies and/or chicken or beef. Perhaps even a baked potato or some soup. Or if I am too lazy to cook, I just eat a few pumpernickel-bread (they call it that here, but it's really just rye - good roughage which the body needs) slices. It keeps me well fed and helps me maintain my body.

One thing I try to do is not eat much sugar. Sugar is a poison. It is actually toxic to out bodies in large doses. Another thing is to keep your trans fat intake low as possible. This is difficult to do, because most companies are not required to list any trans fat below 1 gram per serving, and so they slap a spiffy logo on it saying 'Trans-fat Free'. I know better and always read the labels of what I buy. If it says partially hydrogenated oil on the label, it's got trans-fat less than one gram per serving in it, even if it says trans fat free. A third thing I do is eat garlic with my chicken or beef. Garlic is a natural blood thinner, and in consuming this it helps keep the blood flow light so the heart doesn't have to work as hard. Most heat-attacks could be prevented if they'd just eaten garlic regularly, but out food industry doesn't care and the docs certainly don't care. They'd rather we just take drugs and other chemicals to cure us. My take on that sure they cure what ails us, but what do these chemicals do to us that they don't tell us about or don't realize yet. Hmmm. :)

OMG, I've just written a book... I'd better stop. lol Sorry.
