Love is the closest link to happiness, some say. I say to be loved is to be needed by someone needier than yourself. All she wanted was to be cared for, and to care for him in return. And his choice would be to walk alone, silently watching those who love him, keeping them at arms length, just close enough to keep them. And as she looked in his eyes and didn't see herself reflected there, she walked her own path, in tears, foolishly staying as close to him as she could; at arms length, right where he wanted her, where she didn't truly belong.
