The End is Upon Us!

Not the end of the world, of course. Don't be so dramatic! ;) I'm talking about the end of 2019, which is marking not only the end of this current year, but the end of this current DECADE!

As I reflect back on these last ten years, I realize that I've accomplished a LOT! Including graduating with my Bachelor's AND Master's degrees, moving out of my mom's and to a whole new city for a few years, I got engaged and then married, rescued my first cat (and eventually two others, with the first passing away earlier this year), and entered the world of full-time work.

I was fortunate enough to gain two years' teaching experience between 2016-2018, and it was a humbling experience to work with students who were studying to become nurses, physical therapists, psychologists, and lawyers - industries where my students would be helping people. It also was a time where I learned a lot about myself and where my passions lie, and that is educating others - and writing! More on that later.

I also saw my lowest year in 2018 as far as my mental health goes. I'd hit rock bottom and seriously wanted things to just be done and over with. But I got help. After spending a few days at a local hospital and being properly diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Depression, AND Social Anxiety, I'd received the tools I needed to continue seeking treatment and work on improving my overall quality of life.

2019 has been my most creative year since I was an undergrad in college. I'd discovered the Writing Communtiy on Twitter, along with BookTube and AuthorTube on the YouTube platform. I dove back into my "Tainted Blood" project for the first time since 2012, and even managed to rewrite the first act during National Novel Writing month this past November. I've also upped my reading game quite a bit, completing 10 books throughout the year, with two of them being beta reads for up and coming writers.

One of the most challenging things I took on in 2019 was the creation of my own freelance editing and proofreading business, whch is called Final Proof Writing & Editing Services. I would like to be a freelancer full time by 2022, and no longer have to worry about working for other people and be my own boss while helping writers at any stage of the process find their potential and confidence they need to produce quality work. I'm excited to continue expanding on my networking ventures in 2020 and seeing where this entrepreneurship might take me!

What are some of your highlights from 2010-2019? Is there anything you are looking forward to as we make our way into the new decade? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments, if you feel comfortable doing so.

Happy New Year everyone!
