Many events have come to pass since last year as far as the Community goes. Recently, my Father has stepped down from his position in the Community for various reasons. I agree that they are valid, although it does sadden me to see that he's become that which he despised so much in the newer generation. On the same token, I have more respect for him for owning his trespasses, and recognizing that he was in violation of laws he had sworn to uphold as Mradu.



What I had not anticipated was that today he offered, as his "last act," to name me an Elder within the Community. I was taken aback by the offer, although honored that he would consider me for such distinction. By my own assessment of my character, knowledge, and personal standing within the Community I declined. More than a year and a day has past since I was named Calmae in Septem Civis, yet I feel that I have not earned the title of Elder.



An Elder, in my eyes, should bear specific traits and matching accomplishments to grant weight to their title. Although there have been many in our history who so frivolously donned titles in the pursuit of power, or the illusion of greatness; I refuse to be one of them. The day I am brought before my dark kin to be announced an Elder, it will be because I have attained the qualities worthy of Eldership; for if that be true, it will be irrefutable.
