This is my own writing. I did this as a rough draft and had planned on tweaking it some...however, rough drafts can sometimes be the best...so I decided to leave it.

I know there is something out of place

I have seen it grow more by and by

There’s something different in the way you smile…

Behind those eyes, I see you lie.



I’ve seen that look more than a few times

You must think me naïve and without a mind

I knew this day would come to pass…

Behind those eyes I see you hide.



You won’t tell me the truth but I already know

There’s something different in the way that you touch

I know it’s time to let you go

My heart is heavy, to know that much



To be innocent once more, to not be jaded anymore

To be free from mortal fears and tears

To feel the fire so long ago, started in your heart…

To not foresee the day we would drift apart.



I have seen this day from a far-off distance

I held on so hard, gave such resistance

I cannot hold on to such a ghost

I must let go of what I love the most.



You won’t do it…this, I can tell

You have your heart locked in a shell

I shall tell you with sorrowful eyes

You can stop now, with your lies.



I will move on…I did all I could

I know it takes two to fall apart

I have learned something immortal, a thing untaught…

Next time I’ll be better at protecting my heart.
