I've already posted about this in the forum. Anytime someone does something amazingly stupid and is in, near or slightly related to the goth community, the press goes out of it's way to malign and slander us. They don't bother to do their research, and say whatever they think will sell with no regard to those who are hurt.

If they do this with just about any other community, they catch hell. With us? Nothing.

Everyone just seems content to be apathetic, lazy, or too scared (I think this is the real reason) to stand up and fight the slander and libel spewed by the mainstream press.

Anyone recall Columbine? Remember the press going after the Goth community at large because of the actions of 2 very disturbed teenagers? Remember the hell you caught the next day at school, work, or the grocery store becuase you wore a trenchcoat? It took about a week for the press to focus elsewhere, and off the goth community. No apolioges given, no "we're sorry, we had innacurate information", Nothing.

It's time for this to end. It's time for us to stand up for ourselves, and stop taking this lying down. When you see innacuracy in the media regarding our community, write an e-mail or letter to the editor. Get your friends to do the same. Post the link to the article on every other goth related site you can. Get the word out and make shure others are aware. Write the advertisers, let them know that since they advertise on a show/ in a newspaper that advocated sterotyping/ discrimination/ Misinformation (ect), that you will not be buying their products and that you enourage them to withdraw advertizing on that show. The press can care less about the truth, they wanna sell ad space. If the advertisers pull their ads because of certain news shows, the show doesn't run. It hits them in the pocketbook, and hurts them in the long run.
