Grey skies surround me as I stand there all in black. The preacher standing there with a bible in his hands as he preached over my husbands coffin. My mind was at a blur as I stared blankly in sorrow. Cries, weeping, and anguish filled the funeral on that cold September morning.
As I sat there staring at the casket, my mind would flash back and forth through the past and the present.
My mind took me all the way back to our first meeting. It was a breezy, warm July evening. I was walking with my best friend Eden Michelle Scottson. She was a beautiful young woman with hair that shines and eyes that sparkled. We have been best friends since the 6th grade.
We had been walking to the towns annual carnival. I had my golden hair pulled up into a ponytail wearing, dark blues jeans and a red tank top. We had been walking around, riding rides, and playing games. We had stopped to grab something to eat at “Joanna’s fruit bar.” We sat at an old picnic table next to a carnival game.
I would look around the carnival as my eyes locked on to a tall, black haired, greenish brown eyed boy. He smiled at me as he turned his back to the game. I would quickly turn back to Eden and continue to eat. From the corner of my eye I would see him glimpse at me every now and again. Eden noticed and laughed a little.
“What?” I giggled. She pointed at the boy who had seemed to win a stuffed dog. “What about him?” I asked. She smiled and leaned close to me. “I think he likes you.” she whispered. I smirked a bit and turned to him. Of course, he had to be looking at me. “I don’t even know him.” I said. She leaned up as the boy had walked over to our table. “Hey.” He said. Eden and I both looked at each other and laughed.
“I saw you over here and thought I would win you a stuffed animal.” He smiled setting the dog on the table. I smiled up into his eyes as he smiled back. “My name is Ryan, and you are?”
Before my memory continued I was pulled back into my twisted reality. A small raindrop had fallen on to my cheek. I was stunned to be back at the funeral. To my surprise, the funeral was over and everyone was going home. I lowered my head as the rain began to fall around me. I stood up slowly and stared one last time at my husbands grave. I just slowly turned away to walk towards my car.
Reaching my car, I opened the door and sat in the seat for a few minutes. Tears began to pour from my hazel eyes as my mind flashed me back to my past.
I smirked a bit and stood up to Ryan. “Cora. Cora Claire Sanderson” I greeted. He chuckled and shook my hand. “Well if you want to be all formal. My name is Ryan Scott Derringer.” I laughed a bit as he turned to Eden. “Who is this?” Eden smiled and laughed. “Oh? Me? I am no one… Just her best friend.” Ryan laughed. “Do you have a name best friend?” She blushed embarrassed “Eden.” He nodded and looked back at me.
Only then, when he looked into my shy bright eyes. That I had fallen head over heels for a boy that I met at the carnival. We started to date a week after we met and we were inseparable.
Just remembering him brought me to tears. I loved him more than anything in this world. I wiped my eyes and started up my car. I needed to get away from there. The place where they had buried my husband.
I was driving to Eden’s house, there waited my dear little girl. Ryan and I had a little girl a year after our wedding. As I drove down the road, I pictured they day I was dressed up for big day. I wore a pure white strapless gown. My perfect wedding dress. My hair was pulled up in curls holding those white roses I was so fond of.
I was standing in the back with my brides maids as they told me how beautiful I was. “Oh! Cora! Ryan is a lucky man!” Eden smiled. “You look so gorgeous!” My friend Jasmine cried. We all giggled and spoke about the wonderful. Then, the music began to play and the big event has started.
I remember feeling those butterflies flutter in my stomach as I walked down the alter with my father. I remember looking up to see Ryan in that black tux smiling so big down at the other end. He was stunned to see his bride as beautiful as a white heaven on earth.
We reached Ryan and my father had given me up. I was only now one step closer to being Mrs. Derringer. Ryan had grabbed my hand and placed a kiss on my cheek. Everyone awed. We had turned to face the preacher as he spoke from the bible. Everyone in the background of the church were crying and smiling of joy. At the times of the kiss everyone jumped and cheered for us. We smiled and ran down the alter holding each other.
A memory I will forever treasure. I shook my head as I pulled into Eden’s drive way and stopped the car. I walked to the door and knocked. Eden’s husband Leroy, who was a well known engineer opened the door. “Hey Cora!” He smiled. “Hey Leroy…” I said softly. “He let me in as he called Eden. “How was it…” He asked. I looked down. “Heartbreaking… lonely…” I patted my shoulder. “You’ll survive.” He smiled.
Around the corner came Melina and Addison. Melina was Eden’s 6 year old daughter. Addison was my 4 year old daughter. Addison ran into my arms smiling and laughing with joy. I knew that she was trying to fight the sadness she felt. From the kitchen Eden came in smiling. “Hey Cora! Are you leaving already? I just made some food.” I laughed a bit and looked down at Addison. “I don’t know, do you want to stay a bit longer?” Addison grinned wide and nodded.
Every time I look at Addison she looks more and more like her father. She long dark brown hair, his pale white skin, and his smile. She was the most beautiful girl anyone could have created. Its funny how she had to be mine. I looked up at Eden and smiled. “Addison has spoken.” Addison cheered of joy and ran over to Melina.
We all sat around her dinner table trying to keep of the funeral for the girls sake. But when the girls were done they quickly ran off into Melina’s room to play more Barbie dolls. I helped Eden clean the dishes as Leroy went outside to keep working on some project. Eden and I were both silent.
“So… How are you holding up?” Eden asked. I was washing dishes over the sink trying to hold in tears. “Less, and less every minute.” I replied. She walked over and held me. “It’s my fault Eden… If only I was there… I could have helped him…” She rubbed my back softly. “No… Cora, its not your fault. There was nothing you could do…” I couldn’t hold it back anymore. The tears just burst out as I cried hard on Eden’s shoulder.
In the corner stood Addison and Melina. Addison was quiet staring at me sadly. Melina tried to pull her away so she wouldn’t see her mother crying. Addison just kept watching until Eden noticed her. I turned to Addison who just looked at me quietly. I wiped off my tears and walked to her. “Baby…”
There was nothing to say. Addison just wrapped her arms around me. I embraced her tightly in my arms as Melina quietly walked to her mother. Eden watched me and Addison quietly. I whispered softly in Addison’s ear. “I love you baby, everything is going to be okay. We are going to be okay…” I kissed her forehead as she nodded.
It was getting quite late as I put my now sleeping baby girl in her car seat. I slowly closed the car door as I turned back to Eden. She was holding Melina in her arms as she smiled. “Drive safe…” I nodded as I hugged her goodbye. I got into the car seat and headed back towards home.
Just thinking of Ryan bring me back to when I found him in our bed shaking from a stroke. I remember the horrid look of his face. Crying for help, screaming from the pain. I remember dialing 9-1-1 as he kept yelling from the pain he was feeling. Addison was at Eden’s house for the night, so she wouldn’t know what really happened to her father.
I remember it was a late night, almost midnight. He was sweating so much, but his body was freezing. His muscles were acting up and he would gets seizures out of no where, and I couldn’t help him. I just stood there crying my eyes out unable to do anything. I never felt so useless in my life. By the end of the night, he was just lying there in the hospital bed cold as ice.
I sat by him for hours watching him. He slowly turned to me, his eyes as blank as paper. “Cora…” He whispered. He reached for my hand. I gripped his hand lightly as I stared into his cold eyes. “I love you so very much… I do not regret anything about our life together.” Tears began to fall from my eyes as I gripped his hand tighter with sadness. “Tell Addison I’m sorry, and that I love her.” I bit my bottom lip trying to hide the pain as I nodded.
He smiled as his eyes closed. Then the grip of his hand went loose. I lost my breath I couldn’t breath, I couldn’t do anything but scream. His heart stopped and his body lied still. I screamed as loud as I could as the doctors came to take him away. I was left in the room, my heart ripped out of me. I felt so lifeless. The words “Tell Addison I’m sorry and I love her” Played over and over in my head.
I found myself on the outside of my house staring at Addison in the rear view mirror sleeping. I smiled as I helped her out of the car and into her bed. I lied her down as smiled down at her. I would move her hair out of her face. That angel face, only knowing that she is also feeling the pain of the lost of her father.
I slipped out of her room with a crack in the door. I walked to my room. I had pulled off my cloths and climbed into my now lonely bed. I moved my hand back and forth from where he used to sleep. I stared at it for moments until I turned my back to the spot. I could still feel his arms wrapped around me tightly. It put but a small smile on my face knowing I still feel him.
I slowly drifted into a light sleep and dreamed of him. He was sitting by that old picnic table at the carnival of where we first met. Suddenly I was 19 again. I was walking to him with a smile as he smiled back at me. “Your late.” he teased. “Late for what?” I asked. “I’ve been waiting for you for hours.” he answered. I smiled warmly. “Don’t worry I am also in Addison’s dream too.” I looked confused.
He smiled a bit and kissed my forehead. “I was not going to leave you all alone my love. I am here for you and Addison, but I am here in your dreams.” I wrapped my arms around him tightly with tears starting to fall from my eyes. “I missed you so very much.” He smirked and rubbed my back. “I know, I’ve missed you too.” I lied in his arms until the sun came to take him away.
“I must go now, I will see you again tonight my love.” I watched him fade as I slowly opened my eyes. I was back in my lonely room the sun peeking through the window shades. I sat up with Ryan nowhere to be found. I sighed and moved out of the bed to hear Addison call for me. I quickly ran to her and smiled.
“Mommy! Mommy! I saw daddy last night!” she smiled. I bent down to my knees and smiled. “Really now?” I smiled. “Yeah! We played games and he held me! I told me he misses me and you and that he loves us.” I smiled and kissed her forehead. “And he does… He loves us both very much.” She smiles as I picked her up. “Let’s have breakfast and I’ll take you to daddy… sound good?” She nodded as she ran downstairs.
That afternoon I took Addison to the grave site. She had a had full of flowers as we arrived at the grave. She sat the flowers down next to the tomb stone. “I love you daddy.” she said. I smiled and patted her back. “Me and mommy both love you.” She continued. She turned to me and hugged my leg. I picked her up and stared down at the tomb stone and began to walk back to the car.
“Do you think daddy is watching us?” Addison asked. “Not only is he watching us, but he is protecting us, just like he always has been.” I answered. She held me as we walked off into the bright afternoon always keeping Ryan in our hearts.
My name is Elizabeth Blaine, I am 8 years old. When I was born the doctors told my mommy and daddy that I have a life changing disease. They said I would not live to see my teenage years. Mommy and daddy were both very upset.
I was born on August 26th in Jasper Medical Center on the southeast of Texas. I was born to Renee and Adam Bentley. I was 2 months earlier and my mommy and daddy were so happy to see me. Daddy said I was the most beautiful baby he had ever seen! Mommy said that I was an angel from the high heavens. That was before the doctors had to take tests on me.
My mommy was confused on what they meant by tests, and daddy was getting mad. The doctors rushed me out of the delivery room into a testing room. Only then was I diagnosed with heart disease. My heart would give out only a few times a month to knock me out. Sometimes I scared my mommy into thinking I was dead.
On November 9th my mommy and daddy got to take me home. I lived in a big beautiful two story house. It always smelled wonderful like red roses, mommy’s favorite. My room was upstairs closes to theirs. Daddy wanted me as close to them as possible. My room was big and beautiful. Mommy out did herself when she made it purple and pink. Daddy was spoiling me with so many toys. My crib was wooden and comfy. Daddy and mommy would normally put me to sleep together.
When I was 3, mommy had said she was going to have another baby. I heard it was supposed to be a girl. So I was going to be an older sister. They told me that they were going to name her Lillian May. I thought it was kind of funny. She was Lily May, like flower in May. Mommy was always creative, and I loved her for it.
By the time I was almost 4 my little sister Lily came. Ironically she showed up on the same month as her name. May. I wonder if my mommy ever realized that? When Lily came home, mommy was always busy with Lily, I felt like she had no time for me. But daddy always played with me more. I was more of a daddy’s girl than a mommy’s.
One night, mommy told daddy to watch over Lily, that she wanted to spend sometime with me. I felt kind of happy because I still loved my mommy. We spent the whole night together, and I felt like the day when I first came home. I was mommy’s little angel. Mommy loved me and Lily a lot, but it seemed like something was wrong with mommy, she never seemed as happy around me.
I was 5 when I had my first heart attack from the disease. I was rushed to the hospital by an ambulance. I couldn’t breath and my vision wad blurry, but I could still hear my daddy and mommy crying in the background. Pleading and begging for me to survive. So I did what ever I could to stay alive. I overcame my heart attack and tried everything to keep breathing for them.
After the heart attack, the doctors told me that they needed to keep me into hospital. Daddy didn’t like that very much. Mommy knew it was best and sadly walked away. Daddy stayed with me all night telling me stories and hopeful thinking of me getting better.
Mommy stayed at home with Lily most of the time when I was in the hospital. Daddy told me that she misses and loves me very much. I knew that mommy loves me, but I wished that she would come to see me once in a while. Mommy would stay up late with Lily and cry over me. That’s what daddy told me. I just wish I could make mommy stop crying.
6 was the worst year for me. I started having heart problems and seizures right and left. The doctors told my mommy and daddy I was no longer to leave the hospital. I was stuck in the hospital so they could keep and eye on me. Daddy fought for me and mommy just cried in the background. Daddy refused to leave me, and mommy fought tears.
Sadly mommy and daddy couldn’t stay the night with me anymore. I was stuck at the hospital with a lot of other kids that have problems just like me. Even though there were other kids, I felt alone without my mommy or daddy. I remember how mad daddy was when the doctors told me that I had to stay, and how mommy just cried and cried. I started to feel like I was the worst child ever.
A few weeks being in that hospital; mommy, daddy, and sissy Lily came to see me. I was in that small white room all by myself. Sissy who was now 3 years old came running behind me. I turned to look at them and smiled. “mommy! Daddy!” I yelled. I ran to hug them smiling. They kneeled down to me with gifts.
Mommy bought me some really pretty dresses, and daddy bought me some really awesome toys! The doctors wouldn’t let me keep them in my room or even let me wear the dresses unless a certain occasion. Mommy and daddy stayed with me until night fall. Then they had to go because of curfew and Lily was getting tired.
Mommy told daddy to go put Lily in the car while she tucked me goodnight. She curled me up into my blankets and kissed my forehead. I looked up at her and noticed I look a lot like her, while Lily looks a lot like daddy. She moved my hair out of my face and smiled warmly at me. “I love you my little angel.” I smiled as I began to fall asleep.
The doctors knew that I probably wouldn’t live much longer, but they didn’t have the nerve to tell my parents that. When I was 7 years old living in the hospital for a year they sent me back to my parents. I lived with my family again.
Everyday was a wonderful day. Mommy home schooled me and Lily. Daddy would go to work at the C.E.O company. Daddy and mommy would always play with me and Lily and we always had a wonderful night at the end of the day. Mommy and daddy seemed so happy to have me back, Lily didn’t seem to mind either.
I am now 8 years old and Mommy is pregnant again. Only this time she is having a little boy. Daddy said that it was going to be mommy’s gift. But I know I will always be mommy’s angel. Mommy said that no matter what she will always love me and Lily the same. That no baby is going to change the way she feels about us.
Hayden Charles was born February 8th at the same hospital Lily and I were both born at. He looked a lot like daddy, more than Lily did which was impossible. Lily and I had to share rooms. Which was cool because me and her get along just fine. My family seemed to be perfect and mommy and daddy seemed so happy.
It was night time all of us were lying in bed going to sleep, but something didn’t seem right. I opened my eyes and noticed, I cant breath. My heart is racing, I’m sweating, and I feel like I’m ice cold. The only thing I felt like I could do was scream. And that’s exactly what I did. I screamed loud trying to find a way to get air. I felt like I was going into another seizure. I was trying to hide it, trying to defeat it but, I couldn’t.
I began to shake uncontrollably, muscles tensing, my eyes rolled behind my head. I felt like I was dying and I couldn’t be helped. Lily saw me and ran to go get mommy and daddy. Mommy was scared and didn’t know what to do while daddy seemed to call 9-1-1 once again. I was rushed to the hospital and needed to go into straight surgery. Sadly, there was nothing they could do.
They found no cure, nothing to stop the seizures, my life was slowly ticking away. Mommy had left the hospital trying to find someone to look after Lily and Hayden. She said that it would be to much trauma for them to handle. Daddy stayed by my side, and for the first time ever, I saw him cry. I lied weakly, needled everywhere. My daddy who I thought was tougher than nails cry right in front of me.
“Lizzy…” Daddy said. “I love you so much…. You were the best thing to have ever happened to your mother and me. You were our first baby girl, our angel.” He paused to try and hold back more tears. “No matter what happens… We will always love you, and we will always be here to try to protect you.” I smiled weakly at his words. “I love you too daddy.” I whispered.
Moments later mommy arrived. She walked into the room quietly. Daddy had gotten up and walked to her. He kissed her on the cheek and stepped out of the room. It was mommy’s turn to be alone with me. She walked over quietly and grabbed on to my hand. “Mommy…” I smiled. She flashed me a quick smile but then looked down.
I looked at her confused as she looked back up at me. “What is it mommy…?” A tear secretly escaped her eye as she smiled at me. “I love you so very much…” She started. “I never thought I could love a child as much as I love you.” Tears began to fall more and more from my mommy’s eyes. With ease she wiped them off and looked back down at me. “Elizabeth, you were the best gift any one could have given me.”
I suddenly looked down scared. “What is it baby girl?” she asked. I looked up at her with concern. “are you going to miss me? When I’m gone?” Mommy seemed so stunned at my question. “Don’t talk like that, you’re going to be fine. Your going to stay here with me, daddy, Lily, and baby Hayden… Your not…” I stopped her from continuing. “The doctors said, I don’t have much time to live anymore… So… Am I going to be missed?”
Before mommy could even answer my heart began to pinch me. I felt like a sharp pain was stabbing me over and over. My mommy quickly stood up and yelled for daddy to go get the doctors. She leaned over me holding my hand begging me to hold on. I could feel my heart ready to stop. I was wheezing for air. Mommy stood over my body crying her eyes out begging for me to stay.
The doctors rushed in and took my mommy away. I began to fall faster and faster into the hands of death. Everything was going dark and cold. I could still hear muffled sounds of people screaming and yelling for me to stay alive. Sadly, I just couldn’t make it. My body became to weak for me to even try to stay alive. I faded into the cold lonely path of death. Before my family knew it, I was gone.
Daddy would scream and yell breaking down into tears asking god why did he take me? Mommy lied again the hall wall begging to please let me come back. To let me stay on earth with her and daddy. The doctors tried to comfort mommy and daddy. But they were to far gone into depression to be helped.
It’s been 2 years now since my death. Lily is 8 years old now, she has long blonde hair with dark brown eyes and is in 4th grade. Hayden is 4 years old doesn’t go to school quite yet, has long dark brown hair and dark brownish green eyes. Mommy goes to work now at a journalist for books, and daddy is now the owner of his. C.E.O company. Daddy still thinks of me as does mommy. They miss me dearly and come to visit me at my grave.
Me, I am now 10 years old. I have short brown hair with hazel green eyes, I look a lot like my mommy. I do not go to school for I live in a wonderful place called “Heaven.” A man who I don’t know his name says that my mommy and daddy were right. I am a wonderful and sweet little angel. A gift that was bound to earth.
I was the new girl in a new high school, town, and state. No friends, no sense of directions, no nothing! I was like a cat hanging out with the dogs, a bush surrounded by trees, I was absolutely noticeable. Not only that, everyone in the school seems to judge me, as if I was an alien from another planet. I couldn’t see what was wrong with me… I mean I was just another girl.
The school was in a little town called Springhill. Springhill is a little town on the boarder line of Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana; but it’s counted as Louisiana. I used to live in Texas; a little town just a bit bigger then this, so the size didn’t matter. Except the school was HUGE! It was both junior and senior schools. The school was called “Springhill Junior/Senior High.” Kind of student I know. But it made my first day of school a whole lot harder.
I would walk down the halls trying to find my way around. Since I both looked, and seemed different to the school no one would help me. I was being known as the chick with the skinny jeans and weird characters on my shirt. My sense of style was nothing like the style they had… I thought I was an outcast before… Now I’m just a freak…
I was alone most of my first 2 classes, finally American History. I sat in front of two really random boys. One from what I noticed had short black hair and I think blue eyes. He wore a red American Eagle shirt, with dark new blue jeans. The other boy had medium dark brown hair that was straighten over his clear glasses. He wore a black and red skull Miami Ink shirt, with torn faded blue eyes and Nikes. He also wore a jacket over his shirt, a pure black with what looked like blood falling.
I just turned away taking out my notebook to draw. My black painted nails just gripping on to the pen as my light brown hair fell over my hazel blue eyes. As I focused on the page, one of the boys were speaking to someone. “Hey! You! Who are you?” They couldn’t be talking to me could they? “Hello! Are you ignore me or something?” I stopped for a minute tense. Finally the boy tapped my shoulder. “Excuse me, can you hear me?”
I slowly turned to the boy, his charming hazel brown eyes seemed to pierce into mine. “Uh… No, sorry, I didn’t know if you were talking to me or not…” He chuckled a little. “Well, I was. So who are you?” The second boy smacked him in the shoulder. “Leave her alone! She doesn’t need to tell you” The boy looked at him playfully. “I don’t care! I WANNA know!” The other boy smacked him again as he turned to me. “Just tell him who you are so I don’t I have to keep hitting him.”
The boy turned back to me with a sweet grin. I couldn’t help but smile with a soft giggle. “My name is Corrin. Corrin Peavy.” The boys looked at me weirdly. Oh-no.. not again… Their looking at me like if I was a freak… “Corn?” I sighed. “No.. Corrin… Cer-Rin” He nodded slowly. “Cer…rin..” I nodded and smiled. He quickly smiled and shook my hand firmly. “Well it’s nice to meet you Corrin! My names Brent, and this is my gay lover Slade.” I looked a bit confused as Slade seemed to hit Brent really hard. “Hell No foo! I ain’t yo gay lover!” I giggled.
That whole class period was just a riot. I couldn’t stop laughing! Slade and Brent were just going back and forth. Brent would make a comment Slade would hit him, Brent continues the comment, and Slade would just continue to hurt him. I feel like I finally made some real friends, well not real, but friends. Well, at least I hope I did.
The bell rang and it was off to forth period, whatever that maybe. Brent and Slade just carried on kind of forgetting that I was there. I shouldn’t be surprised, I mean I was still new and maybe they were only a talk hang out one period type. I shrugged as I looked down at my schedule. When I looked up I saw Brent standing next to me. “Whoa!” I shouted holding onto my chest. He laughed. “Where are you going now?” I told him P.E. He smiled and walked me all the way there.
“Is this your class period too?” I asked. He nodded as he walked up with me to the bleachers. I smiled and sat beside him. “So where did you come from?” he asked. “Texas.” I replied. He smiled and nodded. “What part of Texas? I have family down in Dallas, Texas.” I laughed. “I am from a little town called Hitchcock, not far from Galveston.” He looked at me and smiled. “I’ve been to Galveston…. Once..” I laughed and looked at him. “How old are you?” I asked. “15. You?” He replied. “17. Well, I just turned 17...”
We sat up there in the bleacher and talked. We talked about weird stuff, crazy stuff, our likes, dislikes, our pasts, and what we want to do… I was stunned to find he wants to go to the army… For some reason… I didn’t like that. “So Corrin, how do you like this crappy little town?” I shrugged. “Well, it’s a little smaller than I am used too but that fine, I guess.” He smiled as the bell rang again. I had this feeling of wanting to stay with Brent.. I just don’t know why. He stood up with me and walked down the bleachers. “So what is your next class?” he asked. “I think Algebra 2” He nodded and smiled. “I guess, I will see you in Lunch then.”
He began to walk away from me. I stared in confusion for a minute. “Wait… what class do you have next?” He turned back to me and smiled. “Some computer class.” I nodded as I watched him leave. Oh great I am on my own again.. Where am I suppose to be going anyways?
I finally found my own class and sat down shocked. The halls were so crowded, I’m surprised I made it. A girl who sat beside looked at me weird. “Uh… Hello?” She said. I looked up at her and blushed of embarrassment. “Hello.” She laughed. “Who are you?” She asked. “Corrin…” I said. She smiled and shook my hand. “I’m Sheridan! It’s a pleasure to meet you!” I smiled and laughed. “It’s great to meet you too.”
Yet again, the whole class period I was talking to someone who doesn’t think I am weird. I guess it’s just like my old school. I am part of the outcast group. Well, maybe…. The bell rang for lunch and Sheridan walked all the way to the cafeteria. Brent noticed us and quickly ran to both us. Sheridan smiled “Puppy!” She shouted. I looked confused as Sheridan looked at me. “He is my puppy!” She tried to introduce us, but me and him had already met.
The day seemed to go by a little bit fast. Before I knew it, it was time to go home. I grabbed my things and began to walk outside with Brent by my side. “How you getting home?” He asked. “Walking” I replied. His smile grew bigger. “May I walk with you?” I shrugged and walked beside him.
On the walk he was trying everything to make me laugh, and it was working. “You’re very funny Brent.” He smiled and hugged me. My cheeks went a slight pink as I looked up at him. We turned on the corner on my street and he looked at me. “You live here?” I nodded as he laughed. “What?” I asked. He pointed to a little house right beside mine. “I live there.” I smiled knowing my new friend was my next door neighbor.
He walked me to the door as I smiled. “Well I have to go do chores…” He quickly got closer to me. “Can I see you again later?” I shrugged and smiled. “I’ll see what I can do.” I smiled and hugged me goodbye. I waved as I watched him again.
After doing my chores, I ran over to Brent’s house just like I said I would. He opened the door and smiled. “Hey.” I waved as he let me inside. “How was your chores?” he joked. I rolled my eyes as he walked me to his room. “Wow.. Small room.” I laughed. He laughed me as he laid on his bed. I sat beside him and smiled.
Just looking at him put butterflies in my stomach; but to see him smile? God, I could die happy now. “So,” he started. I looked at him and laughed. “So…” I continued. “I wanna rape you…” I looked at him a little shocked. “What?” I asked. “I wanna rape you…” he smiled. Before I could ask he began to tickle me. I laughed crazily as he smiled at me. “This is rape in some countries.” I tried so hard to pull away but I was stuck in his grip.
When he finished I was laying in his arms staring into his eyes. I quickly blushed and had to get up. He looked confused at me. “Something wrong?” He asked. I shook my head and covered my dark pink face. He sat up behind me and put his hands on my shoulders. “Corrin? Are you okay?” I nodded as I tried to look at me.
Damn that smile! It just seems to make me melt. He hugged me lightly as I wrapped my arms slowly around him. “Thanks for being my friend.” I said. He pulled me away to look into my eyes. A half smile with his arm still around me. “No need to thank me.” I smiled as my phone began to ring. Parents… I sighed and stood up. “Well I need to go…” He nodded and walked me to the front door.
“I’ll see you tomorrow right?” I asked. He nodded as I hugged him one last time. He held me there for a few minutes. I backed away and began to walk away. As I walked I could feel him watching me. I turned to see him waiting for me to enter my house. I smiled as I waved goodbye as I entered the house.
The next morning, as I was walking outside I saw Brent in his drive-way waiting. I looked confused. He ran over to me wearing his Nike’s with dark faded blue jeans and a black and red skulled shirt. The designs were with skulls, and crosses. I smiled as I hugged him. “Good morning.” He smiled. “Morning” I replied.
He looked me up and down, I was confused. “You’re looking extra beautiful today.” I looked down at my skinny greenish/blue jeans, a black t-shirt with the anime DEATHNOTE. I was confused but just laughed. “Okay.. I don’t see how I am looking beautiful but okay…” He smiled and began to walk to school with me. “You always look beautiful to me” he said. I looked down my face blood shot red.
We reached the school a few minutes ‘til seven thirty. We walked down the halls together as I see Slade with a blonde haired girl. I looked up at Brent confused. “That’s Momma… Slade’s girlfriend.” I nodded in confusion as the girl and Slade walked to us. “Hey Ker-in” Slade joked. I rolled my eyes as I looked at the girl.
She had deep blue eyes and really long curly blonde hair. I just gave a half smile not trying to be rude. “Oh, Corrin, This is Chasity, Chasity this is Corrin.” We both waved and smiled. “it’s nice to meet you.” I smiled. She nodded in agreement.
I turned to Brent and stood kind of close to him. He didn’t really notice but Slade did. “Are you two dating or something?” Me and Brent looked at each other and quickly looked away. “No!” We harmonized. Slade laughed “So ya’ll just fucking then?” I kept my face turned from Brent. Brent told Slade no. Slade didn’t believe that.
The bell rang as Slade and Chasity just began to walk away from each other. I looked confused at them as Brent walked me to class. “Not very affectionate are they?” I asked. Brent looked back at Slade and Chasity and shook his head no. I just laughed as I looked at my class. “Well I’ll see you third period k?” He hugged me and began to walk away. I smiled as I walked into class.
It didn’t take long until third period came. I sat in front of Brent smiling. “Hey! Miss me?” I asked. He smiled and laughed. “Only so very much” I laughed as Slade kept questioning us. But of course we weren’t together nor having sex. We were just close… very quickly.
After third period of course came fourth period. Yes! Another class with Brent still. P.E. wasn’t very active which was fine with me because I got to sit and talk with Brent. Only, today me and his conversation was a very deep one… Our backgrounds….
“So, how is your family like?” Brent asked. I looked at him confused. “What do you mean?” He looked down then back at me. “Like, how did your family end up how it did?” I looked down a little scared. “You don’t have to tell me… I’m just curious” I looked down and sighed. “Well… When I was little my dad… raped or molested me… and my mom and dad got a devours.. And then my mom and dad’s best friend Jimmy got together…”
He looked at me amazed. “And don’t you have any brothers or sisters?” I looked up. “Well, I have three half brothers and two half sisters and one full blooded brother.” He kept asking more and more questions and I answered them all. When he was finish he quickly held me in a hug. I smiled and held him close to me.
After a few minutes I backed away and looked at him. “What about you? What is your family like?” He looked down a bit sad. I looked confused. “Well…” He started. “My mom and dad didn’t want me so my grandmother took me in… I have a lot of half brothers and sisters but none full blooded…” I looked down sad. “I’m sorry… Does your grandmother treat you well?” He sighed and looked at me. “Yeah… Hitting, yelling everyday yep… I am treated well.”
My eyes widen and I couldn’t stop myself from grabbing him in a hug. “Oh my god! Brent… that’s terrible!” He shrugged and sighed again. “When you feel pain for so long, it doesn’t tend to bother you anymore.” I looked at him confused as he put on a fake smile and hugged me again. “Do you have a cell phone?” I asked. He nodded and pulled it out. I gave him my number and looked into his eyes. “Call or text me whenever you need me…” He smiled and nodded.
We stared at each other quietly for a moment, the bell rang and startled me. He laughed and stood up. “Come on, you don’t want to be late” I nodded as I stood up beside him. He walked me to the door and smiled at me. “I’ll see you at lunch okay?” I smiled as he slipped a kiss onto my cheek. My face was blood red as I watched him leave.
My heart was racing every time I thought of him now. “What’s wrong with me!? Why do I keep thinking of him?!” I couldn’t get him out of my head. I sat in my class quietly. The bell rang once again for lunch. I stood up as I seemed to walk in a daze. I walked out of my class in deep thought.
Arms wrapped around my waist. I jumped and quickly looked back to see Brent behind me. “Don’t do that!” I shouted. He laughed and went to my side. “Why?” He asked. “You scared me!” I sighed. He just laughed as we walked into the cafeteria.
During lunch I was kind of quiet. “You okay?” Brent asked. I turned to him and laughed. “Yeah.. Just tired and kind of dozed off.” He smiled and pulled me to him. I laid on his chest and closed my eyes. Lunch was kind of a sweet awesome thing for me.
School was over and I wanted to quickly get home. Brent was right behind me every step of the way. “Why are you walking so fast?” he called after me. I want to get home… I’m tired and I don’t feel very good.” He ran up behind me and asked. “What’s wrong?” I sighed. “I have a headache and my throat is starting to hurt…”
I reached the house and looked back at him standing near the drive-way. “I’m just gonna go rest for a bit… okay? Text me later.” He just nodded and I walked inside. I watched him from the window walk to his house quietly.
Later that night, I laid in my bed thinking of him. I tossed and turned trying to think of what was wrong with me. As I turned on my right I felt my phone vibrate from in my pocket. I pulled out the phone to see Brent’s number. I opened my phone to read the message.
“Hey…” the message said. I replied. “You okay?”
“She hit me…”
“Who did?”
“My grandmother…”
“Where did she hit you?”
“My face…”
“Oh my god! Brent are you okay?”
“I just.. I need you… Can you sneak over?”
“Now? But what if she catches me?”
“Come to my bedroom window I’ll let you in..”
I was thinking maybe it would hurt to go see him. I got up to put my house back into my pocket and began to walk over to his house. It was dark outside… The moon was full and the stars shined so bright. I walked over to his window and tapped on it. He opened the window to look at me. I smiled as he helped me in.
I sat on his bed looking at him. A red mark pressed on his left cheek and stained with tears. I held him quickly in my arms. He laid there blankly afraid… depressed… I couldn’t let him go I held him tightly in my arms as I rocked him back and forth. My fingertips softly rubbing his back. “Why does it feel like no one wants me?” He mumbled. “No one cares for me… I feel like every one hates me…” I made him look at me in the eyes. “Don’t say that!”
He looked away from me, tears swelling back up into his eyes. “Why…? It’s true.. No one loves me or needs me…” He cried. “That’s not true!” I shouted. He looked me dead in the eyes, tears falling like rain. “How do you know? How do you know anyone loves or wants me?” I looked down and whispered. “Because I love…. I need you…”
He quickly turned to look at me confused. “What did you just say?” I looked up into his brown hazel eyes. “I need you… I love you…” Tears begin to swell in my eyes. “I fell for you hard and fast… And now I cant stop thinking about you.” I chuckled as a tear slides down my face. He slowly walked to me and wrapped his arms around me.
I held him close to me as I began to cry in his arms. He rubbed my back and kissed my forehead softly. “Corrin… I have to tell you something as well.” I looked up at him as he wiped a tear from my eye. “I fell in love with you as well… From the first day I saw you I wanted to be with you.” I blushed and I looked down. He pulled my chin up and held my jaw line as he softly pressed his lips against mine. My eyes widen in shock as he held me close to him. I stayed close to him as well as he broke the kiss. “I love you Corrin.” I smiled happily as tears still fell from my eye. “I love you too Brent.”
He smiled and pulled me down on the bed beside him. He held me close and gently rubbed my side. I just stayed quiet and relaxed in his arms. “Corrin…” I looked up at him quiet. “Since, we both love each other… May I ask… Will you be my girlfriend?” My face went red a smile spread across my face as I nodded yes. He smiled. “Really?” I nodded again and smiled. “Yes.. I will be your girlfriend.”
The rest of the night he held me close as I began to fall asleep in his arms. “Corrin, I don’t want you to get in trouble so maybe you should start going home?” I sighed knowing he was right as I stood up. He opened the window to help me down. I looked up at him from the window. “Goodnight Brent.” I smiled. “Goodnight Corrin.” He replied. I kissed him once more and head back to my house.
The next morning was the best morning I could have ever hoped for. I was putting on my hippie blue jeans and tight grey LOVE shirt with heels. I was trying my best to look perfect for Brent. When I walked out the door I think he was doing the same for me. His dark brown hair straighten, wearing his black, blue, and white crossed shirt with dark blue jeans.
We slowly walked to each other smiling as he looked down at me. “Last night wasn’t a dream was it? We are together right?” He asked. I smiled and nodded. “Yep, I am finally your girlfriend.” He smiled and kissed my lips. I smiled back into the kiss holding him close to me.
The whole day at school couldn’t have been better, we stayed close together showing the whole school we were finally together. At P.E. Brent and I were up in our normal spot on the bleachers cuddled up in each other arms. “So why did you say yes to me?” He asked. I looked at him. “I fell in love with you, your sweet, funny, very handsome, caring, just everything I’ve wanted.” He smiled and kissed my lips.
I broke the kiss and smiled staying close in his arms. Slade and Chasity were on the other side of the gym looking at us. Chasity was happy Brent finally had someone, while Slade kind of saw it coming from the start.
We stayed together through out the whole entire school year, but we did have our ups and downs.
It was March 17th, an old friend of Brent’s named Kate was coming over to visit Brent. I was caught up doing chores at home and running earns with mom. I was texting Brent all day saying how much I missed him and how much I loved him. But something just didn’t feel right with me… I never really met Kate before and from what Brent said, she was madly in love with him… I guess I was kind of scared…
When I got home, I asked Brent if I could come over. No reply. I was starting to get a little nervous. I kept texting him but I never got an answer. I decided to go over myself and knock on the door. His grandfather answered as I walked to his house. I went to his bedroom and opened the door. I was stunned to see Kate on top of Brent kissing him. Brent finally pushed her off and noticed me.
I stood there in the door way my heart breaking with every second. “Corrin, I can explain!” Brent shouted. I just turned away needing to get away. Kate kept Brent still as he struggled to get free. “Kate! Get off of me! Corrin! Please come back!” I just kept running until I was at the front door of my house. I couldn’t believe what I saw… I was heart broken… and I never wanted to see Brent again.
The next couple of weeks were hard… Brent texting me every 5 seconds knocking on my door, calling, doing anything to get a hold of me. Finally I just left my house to go for a walk hoping that Brent wouldn’t find me.
I walked to the park to sit on the swings. Tears began to fall again. I knew I shouldn’t have fallen in love so quickly… I knew I would only get myself hurt. As I sat there I heard a girls voice. I looked up and there SHE was… Little miss Kate walking around on the phone. And something just came over me.
I stood up and walked over to her angrily, she turned to look at me as I knocked the phone out of her hands. “What are you doing?!” She yelled. I looked at her with hatred and pushed her into a tree. She looked at me startled and scared. “W-What are you doing?! Let me go!” She stuttered. “You… You took Brent away from me… I loved him… He was mine!” I growled.
She laughed finally understanding pushing me off of her. “Well, Now I am going out with him, he is mine now” I pushed her back into the tree my hands gripped harder on her shoulders. “I will NOT let him slip away from me that easily!” She smiled evilly at me. “So what are you going to do?”
I pulled my arm back and slammed my fist into her face making her fall to the ground. I pulled her back up and began to grip my hands around her neck. I was so blinded by rage I hadn’t even notice Brent behind me trying to pull me away. He finally got me to let go and turned me to face him.
Tears were falling down my face from all the anger I held inside. He held me close in his arms not letting me go. “Calm down Corrin, Please.. .Calm down.. I’m here… I’m here” He whispered. I held him close to me not letting him go as I cried in his arms. He looked at Kate blankly with a hint of anger.
Kate stood up and looked at both of us. “Why her?! You’ve known me longer! I’ve loved you longer! Why do you pick her?!” She screamed. Brent looked down at me and back at Kate. “She’s the girl of my dreams. I want her and I love her… I don’t want you… I don’t love you, I have no feelings for you Kate… I’m Sorry but Corrin is my only lover, my one and only true love.. And I’m not going to give her up for you.”
Kate got really mad and looked at me. “She is just a stupid girl! I could be better for you!” Brent shook his head and turned his back to Kate still holding me. “She isn’t stupid… and no.. she’s the best I’ve ever had… I’m not giving her up…” Brent began to drag me away as Kate stood there angrily.
Brent took me back to his house and sat me down on his bed. He lifted me head to look into my eyes. I wouldn’t look at him. “Corrin, look at me please” I looked at him my eyes a dark red from crying so much. He softly kissed my lips. “Baby… I love you.. I don’t love her…” He whispered. “Then why.. Why were you kissing her?!” I cried out. “She kissed me.. She was telling me something and forced a kiss on me.. She was trying to seduce me baby.. But I didn’t want her.. I want you…”
I turned my face away wiping off the tears that just wouldn’t stop falling. He turned me to him and made me face him. “What will make you believe me?” I stared into his eyes… There I could see the truth.. He did only want me… His eyes were filled with sadness and concern. I looked at him slightly quiet. He stared at me trying to find the answer. I kissed his lips softly and pulled away. He stared at me stunned as he broke the kiss. “I believe you..” I whispered.
We sat there staring at each other in silence for a minute. “How do you know I’m telling the truth?” He asked. “I can see it in your eyes.” I said. He looked at me for a minute. “Your eyes are showing me that you do love me and only want me… So I believe you.” He smiled warmly and wrapped me up into his arms.
We laid there quietly listening to what seemed to be rain starting to fall on the house. “Corrin…” Brent whispered. I looked up at him to see him gazing at me. “Yes?” I asked. He got up from the bed as he kneeled on to the floor. I looked at him confused.
“Corrin, I love you more than this world could ever let me show, and I want to be with you forever.” He started. “I love you too Brent…” I replied. “But… Corrin… I just don’t want to be your boyfriend forever… I know you’re turning 18 soon and I just turned 16... But Baby.. I cant take it anymore…”
I looked down at him confused. “What are you talking about?” He grabbed my hand and stared me in the eyes. “Corrin… every single dollar or money I got… I was saving for this one special day and to be honest I just cant take it anymore…” He held my hand and pulled out a heart shaped diamond ring and looked back up at me… “Corrin.. My lover… My only reason of life… Will… you marry me?”
My heart skipped a beat as I looked at the ring amazed. His eyes looking into mine as tears of joy slid down my cheeks. “Oh.. Brent… You saved all your money for an engagement ring?” He nodded as had the ring at the tip of my finger. I smiled so warmly and nodded. “Yes! Yes Brent! I will marry you!” He put the ring on my finger and kissed my lips so passionately. I held him close to me as I looked down at the ring with joy.
He sat beside me and held me in his arms as I just stayed in his arms smiling. I am soon to be Mrs. Wyrick! The tears just wouldn’t stop as I looked at Brent again and kissed his lips.
And just like that.. A couple months later a month right after my birthday perfectly on Halloween… We had a the most beautiful wedding ever. I was wearing my long black dress with a beautiful red ribbon and roses down the ale. Brent stood at the alter smiling down at me in his black and red tux. As we stood there together at the alter we said our “I do’s” and just like that I became Mrs. Corrin Adrienne Wyrick.
It’s amazing how I start off as the Freak at the new school to… a beautiful bride to a wonderful man… I’m glad I found Brent…. I’m glad we are together… And I know we will last forever until the end of time…
I’m sitting in our room hearing the voices from the past. The laughter, our voices, what we once called “love.” It’s hard to think that what was once our pride and joy, how it came to be our worst nightmare. I mean… I’m sitting in this dark lonely room alone and where are you?
I held that picture in my hand for hours, the picture of us. Do you remember? The picture where we were in the back of the car to the restaurant all the way back home. Do you remember how happy we were? I can feel tears starting to slide down my hot cheeks onto the picture.
I had to throw that picture far away as I busted into a long cry. The warm salt tears falling rapidly downs my hands that lied in my lap shaking. I can feel my heart pounding faster and faster breaking into little pieces. This pain that strikes into my heart is sharp. I cant breathe, I clinch my chest trying to gasp for air but the pain keeps hitting into my heart.
Finally I sit up from the lonely bed catching my breath. I look up with tear stained cheeks as I see a mirror across the room. Look at what I’ve become, I am hideous over you. The look of my reflection send rage into my veins. So I stood up and mashed that mirror into a million pieces breaking pieces off into my skin.
Feeling the pain flash my skin hot I become more enraged. I went around the room destroying everything we once were. Our bed, of which we made love, our pictures of which keeps memories and our course I broke everything that made me think of you.
Can you hear our laughs? The ones that used to show that we were happy? Do they replay over and over in your mind like it is mine? Do you feel the pain I do? We were once so very close, I thought we would be able to make it. Now look at us, you ran away with my heart shattering to pieces and I am sitting in our pointless room feeling worthless.
I stand up slowly feeling miserable and lost. As if I had just woken from the grave. I feel so very numb. I walk down the halls of our broken home trying to see what is left of it. Half of everything is gone. Your cloths, your furniture and you are all gone. All you left behind was me, myself and I. And I thought I was something you could never forget.
I slowly sit on our couch thinking of everything we said. How the arguments turned into a fight, the fight turning into war, the war that left me here without you. As I sat in this cold room the memories taken me back to the awful day of which the war began.
It was a foggy morning, we were both just getting up for work. You and I were still slightly quite from the argument the night before. As you took a warm shower I was in the kitchen making food quickly before we left. The house was more than quiet… It felt dead.
I was tense slightly trying to be careful of dishes and the food. You had walked out from our room as I dropped a dish onto the floor. “Shit…” Was all I could whisper. You chuckled quite a rude chuckle and said. “Don’t break anymore crap okay?” The words came out like lemon to an open wound.
I smirked and looked back at you. “What are you trying to say?” I muttered. “Stop being a damn cults and stop breaking shit.” Apparently our argument from the day before was not settled. I just closed my mouth and turned away as you looked surprised at yourself. “Baby, I-” I put up my hand stopping you.
Even if my back was turned I could feel the tension between you and me as you grabbed your jacket. Before I knew it you left without a word. I stood there over the sink as tears began to slide down quietly. I hope that this argument will soon pass over.
That night I made dinner and I remember standing over the oven smiling starring at the sunset. You were soon to come home and I was hoping to finish the argument. I went to set the table as I heard your car pull into the drive. I run over to see you and this other girl. You weren’t in your car, you were maybe in hers.
I felt my body stare in shock as I growled lowly walking to our dining room. Our door slowly opened as you walked in. You see me sitting alone at the dinner table arms crossed. “What?” you asked. I stayed silent as I glared at you. You looked at me with questioning eyes.
“Who was the girl?” I asked. Your eyes widen as if amazed that I would ask such a thing. “A girl from work.” you replied. “What is she doing driving you home?” I asked. “My car broke down at work.” you sighed. I stood up and walked into the kitchen as if heart broken.
Right behind me you followed mad that I was acting this way. “Tell me something! What am I supposed to think?!” I yelled. “Don’t yell at me” you said calmly.” Tears rapidly began to fall. “What am I supposed to do! I thought we were going to be fine!!” I screamed turning away from you.
The switch from the argument to the fight began. “Shut the hell up woman and listen to me!! Nothing is going on between me and her!” You yelled at me. I got into your face and began to yell more. That’s how we spent that night screaming and yelling, arguing and fighting. It was a very reckless night.
As the days of silence went on between you and me I was hoping everything would get better. That we would look past our differences and start over like we normally did. But sadly, as the days went by the worse our relationship began to become. Soon, you and I stopped caring for one another.
Now, again, I am here in this almost empty house. You left me here by myself without even a goodbye. What I thought was that I didn’t care but that sting in my heart tells me otherwise. I can’t breath, I cant sleep, I cant do anything without you. But now your gone and I am alone.
I had to try to get away from this house but the pain I felt was too powering for me to think of anywhere to go. I stood up and slowly walked back into the bed room as I lied down on the bed. My body cold and numb, my mind blank and restless. I felt like I was nothing but a mindless puppet.
As I lied there time just seem to stop and my heart wasn’t going to mend. I sat up as I just realized I cant stop thinking about you. Slowly I reached my feet and began to walk aimlessly around the house. First I was in the living room, then the dinning room, and then finally I reached the kitchen.
I stopped myself near the knife holder. I stared as the moon seemed to shine on the blade from the window. A small smile spread onto my lips spreading across my face. I pulled the blade from its holster and slowly walked back into the living room.
Now I sat alone holding the knife on our leather seats. The knife glistening in the moon light that shined in through our blinds. I could still feel my heart breaking faster and faster all torturing myself. That was the first time I ever thought of suicide.
The hardest part was the first cut into my warm soft skin. But after seeing the crimson red blood bubble to the surface I knew that what I wanted. I sat on our couch, slicing that blade deeper and deeper into my skin watching the blood splatter to the ground. The sticky warm goop felt pleasant on my cold body.
After slitting my arms multiple times I stood up wondering the halls again splashing blood all over the walls. I would laugh and enjoy the sight of red everywhere it seemed to enlighten me. As I entered our room for the final time I felt my body go completely numb. As I sat on the edge of our bed I saw something in the corner of my eye.
I leaned over and held what seemed to be the back of a frame. I turned it over to see that the picture was of me and you. I sat there staring at it feeling guilty and worthless. I remember sitting there starting to cry one last time. As I sat there I could hear something from the front room.
Someone had walked into our house. I was too weak to scream or even to care for who came into our house. Then I heard someone yelling for some reason. I couldn’t hear what they were saying but they seemed to be saying the same word over and over again. Now what kind of idiot would break into a house like that?
I listened closer and then I realized they weren’t saying a word but calling a name. Not just any name at that, but they were calling my name. I managed to yell. “In the bed room!” A shadow figure came into the door way and stared down at me. And before I knew it you had come back home.
You turned on the light to our room, at first was a smile that had faded into concern. “What the hell?! What happened!?” I had looked down to see that I was still bleeding onto the carpet. I looked up smiling at you weakly. “Blood.” I whispered.
You ran beside me trying to stop the blood but I already knew it was too late to save me. “Why did you do this?” you said scared and unhappy.” I looked down with tears soaking up my face as I smiled. “I couldn’t live without you and I… I thought you were leaving me forever.”
You wrapped me up into your arms trying to get warmth back into my body but the damage was done. I knew that the sand in the hour glass was almost out, and I am soon to die. I began to get weaker and weaker, tired and more tired.
You tried to keep me awake to keep me alert but I just couldn’t hold on much longer. My head fell onto your shoulder as you looked down at me. “No! No… Please, stay with me… Please!” With little strength I had I looked up at you and with my final words I spoke. “I- Lov…e… yo..u” and with that my heart stopped.
You shook my body trying to wake me back up, to make this all one bad dream that you came home too. Sadly this was no dream and I was never going to wake up. I had died and there was nothing more you could do.
Weeks had went by and the death of me drove you into madness. You quit your job and started to drink, Everywhere you turned reminded you of me. Then one day you came to visit me in the grave site, and you were drunk like always.
You told me you missed me and that you wished you were with me and then a weird smile came onto your face. A smile of which I never seen before even when I was alive. You told me that you were going to be with me that exact night. You had pulled a small pistol out and sat by my tomb stone. You said I love you and that you’d see me soon.
Next thing that happened what a loud bang and your bleeding corpse lying onto my stone. You held it close even in death with a bullet in your skull. Your final words before the over shock spread were. “I’m coming baby and we can finally be together again.”
That morning people came and saw your body bloody all over a tomb and realized it was your old lover who had killed herself because she was afraid of losing you. So they got your body and lied your body exactly next to mine. Your corpse and my corpse held each other in what was now our casket. Now we can hold each other forever even in death.
I quickly ran up the stairs to hear my son crying. It was 8 o’clock and I guess it was Tyler’s feeding time. Walking into his room I walk over to my sons crib picking up my beautiful baby boy. I held him there for just a few seconds trying to relax him; rocking him back and forth in my arms. Tyler looked up at me with his fathers brown eyes calmer then before. I smile gently turning to the door.
I began to walk downstairs to the kitchen for his bottle. I slowly began to feed Tyler as I walked into the living room sitting down on the couch. I looked at my perfect child as he drank from his bottle. Only 6 months old and already looks a lot like his father. I laughed a little kissing the top of my sons light brown hair.
At that moment I heard the front door open with a long sigh to go with. I stood up to walk into the main hall to see my husband arriving home. I smile leaning against the wall holding dear Tyler. “Welcome home Baby.” I smiled. He looked up at me with a perfect grin. He walked to me gently laying a soft kiss upon my lips as he looked down at our son. “How was your day baby?” I asked.
He sighed as he walked past me to reach the kitchen. “What am I working with?? Semi retarded monkeys? I feel like I have to show them hand by hand!” I laugh a little leaning against a counter rocking Tyler back to sleep. “Well baby… You’re the boss man and also they are new employees.” He sighed drinking a coke from the fridge. “Yeah, you’re right, so how was yours and Tyler’s day?” He asked.
I smiled and walked into the living room to sit back down on the couch. “Well god mommy came to see him today, and that was a lot of fun, Oh I also get to translate an English version of one of Hiao Miyazaki’s films! Brent this is perfect for me!” He laughed walking to sit beside me. “I am really happy for you baby” He leans over and kisses me softly again on the lips.
“Now” He said. Reaching over to grab Tyler out of my hands. Holding our son Brent looked so happy but he stayed quiet. “What is it babe?” I asked. He looked up at me still holding our son sleeping son. “It’s only been 6 months but he is so perfect baby” I blush a little as Brent looked back down at Tyler. “He is such a perfect little boy.” He looked back up at me smiling so sweetly. “How did we make such a perfect little boy?” I laugh slightly leaning close to him. “Because we are such perfect parent’s baby.” I kiss him softly on the lips as I stand up to walk into the kitchen.
Brent sat there on the couch rocking our son back and forth in his arms. “Baby, want something to eat?” Brent looked up to look at me. “Uh, sure, whatcha making?” I shrug slightly looking back at the kitchen. “I was gonna make some hamburgers you wanna come help me with the rest?” Brent nodded quickly getting up and setting Tyler in a little rocker close to the kitchen.
I started the fryer and took out the hamburger meat as Brent searched the cabinets. “Let’s have macaroni and cheese with ranch styled beans” I nodded as I began to cook the hamburgers. Brent and I began to have just a cook out in the kitchen. When the food was done we sat at the bar where Tyler was close to laying. We ate there talking about our son and our future. I mean we were only 23.
After the clean up and washing off I grabbed Tyler and held him in my arms. Brent turning off all the lights I began to walk to Tyler’s room. Brent was right behind me securing all our surroundings. I walk into Tyler’s room hushing our groaning son as I lay him in his crib. I run my hand through his hair as I whispered goodnight. Brent stood in the doorway looking at me and Tyler as he smiled. I walk to Brent turning off the light keeping the door slightly open for light as we walk to our room.
I sigh in happiness as Brent was taking off his shirt. “What is it baby?” He asked looking at me. I was undressing getting my silk gown on walking to our bed. “We have a great start at our perfect family.” Brent agreed lying in bed with me. I cuddled up to him wrapping my arms around him. He held me tight with his strong protecting arms smiling down at me. “I love you baby girl.” Brent smiled. I look up at him smiling as well. “I love you too baby.”
He reached down to grab my chin and pull it up to him. I glare into his eyes so sweetly and calm. He kisses my lips so gently and holds me close to his side. I kiss him back not letting go as I lay my head back on his chest. He smiles cuddling me back as we began to fall asleep for another good day.
It was a full moon night on the white sanded beach of Florida. She walked with him smiling staring at the clear water as the sweet autumn breeze flew through her light brown hair. He stared at her with love in his dark hazel eyes smiling slightly as she turned to face him. She blushes a light red that spreads across her cheeks.
He had a slight chuckle as he turned from her smiling still. Looking up at the moon he thought maybe it was the right time. Turning back to her a bigger smile begins to form. She looks curious of the smile upon his face. Her blue eyes sparkled at the moon light sending butterflies to his stomach. An innocent smile landed on the lips of the girl.
He couldn’t help but lift her chin up to him and press their lips so gently together with his hands on his jaw line. Her hands on his lower abs holding him close to her body as they kissed under the moonlight. The soft roar of the water hitting the shore; and the sweet scented breeze flying around them. It was the perfect moment.
He broke the kiss as they gazed deeply in love into each others eyes. She smiles looking down at the white sand and back to his dark eyes. He grabbed her hand gently in his looking deep into her blue eyes bending to his knees. She felt her heart race to the thought of what he was doing. He smiled up at her and slipped his hand into his black jeans reaching out a small white box.
Her face was red from the blush that crossed her cheeks as the words would not come out. He chuckled a bit at her opening the box to a little silver diamond ring. With the free hand she held her pounding heart as she looked at him speechlessly. He smiles warmly looking down gripping her hand a bit tight. Looking back up a bit nervous to say but spoke out. “Marry me?”
The girl thought her heart exploded as tears slide down her rosy cheeks. He stood up holding the ring to her finger waiting for the answer. She looked deep into his eyes as hers sparkled of joy she choked out. “Yes….!” He smiles slipping the ring on to her finger pulling her into his arms.
Lifting her chin one more time he gently kissed her so passionately on the lips. The clear tears just slide down her face as the kiss lasted forever. Breaking the kiss once again he looks at her and smiles. “You made me so happy; I love you with all my heart and soul.” The girl ran her fingers into his medium black hair out of his face as she smiled. “I love you too baby.”
He turned to grab her hand again as they walked along the beach. The moon still high in the sky; the water hushing against the white sands. It was a perfect night. Just like he thought it would be.
Now, it was October 30th, 2015. She was in a room with that beautiful long wedding dress. She stood in the mirror as her friend zipped up the back rubbing her bare shoulders smiling. The girl turned to her friend with tears falling down of joy. Her friend smiled wiping the tears from the girl’s eyes asking her not to cry. The girl laughed turning back to mirror holding her red roses.
He stood in the black tux waiting by the priest. Family, friends and some employees wait for the beautiful bride to arrive. The boy stood nervous as the music began to play softly. Everyone stood and turned to the back of the room.
There she stood with her father on her arm. The boy saw his bride as became speechless at her beauty. She smiles up at him as they walked down the ilea to the alter. Standing there now the father gave his only daughter away. She stood up next to him holding his hand smiling into his eyes.
He stood breathless at the sight of her. She looked down blushing slightly turning to the preacher now. Everyone sat down as the music stopped.
The preacher turned to the boy first and then looked at the bride whispering to the groom, “You are very lucky young man.” He smiled turning to his bride slightly saying back. “I know.” The preach cleared his throat as he spoke aloud to the crowd.
“Ladies and gentleman we are gathered here today to hold these to in holy matchermony. If anyone here had a reason while these two should not be wed, please speak now or forever hold your peace.” He began to look around the room as no one said a word.
He nodded looking at the young boy. “Now, do you Brent, take Corrin as your awfully wedded wife? To have and to hold through sickness and health?” He looked at the girl and smiled sweetly nodding “I do.” The girl had tears start to form into her eyes as the priest turned to her. “And do you Corrin? Take Brent as you’re awfully wedded husband? To have and to hold through sickness and health?” The tears slide down her cheeks as she choked out. “I do.”
The boy smiles wiping off her tears as the preacher said. “I now pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Wyrick. You may now kiss the bride!” He pulled her close and kissed his wife so gently on the lips as everyone cheered. They held hands as they ran down the ilea smiling at each other.
It was late in the evening and the party of the wedding was almost over. The boy’s sister the girl’s best friend walked to them crying of joy hugging them both. “I am so happy for both of you!” As the husband held his wife they smiled. The sister pulled out a present handing it to the bride. “I know it’s not much but I hope you enjoy it.” The girl’s eyes widen at the sight of 2 airplane tickets a round trip to Japan.
The boy was shocked and held the tickets as the girl hugged her friend smiling. “Thank you so much, we love it!” The boy nodded hugging her as well. The sister smiles and nodded. “Just don’t get into too much trouble.” They laughed and agreed.
It was now dark and the bride stood in a crowded place as she held her roses and throw them. The crowd jumped to get the flowers as the sister seemed to grab it as everyone cheered. The bride smiled as she walked to the husband sitting down on a cheer. He pulled up her dress slightly grabbed the legging pulling it off as all the guys waited to catch it.
He stood up and pretended it was a baseball throwing it into the crowd. The boys went crazy reaching for it. The winner was the girl’s best friend Nick. He laughed holding it up in victory. She laughed as the night seemed to end perfectly.
The next morning they were off to the airport to fly out of the country. Sitting on the plane the girl lay against him as the flew off. He smiled and held her as he looked out the window to the passing world around them.
The next few days were amazing. A great dinner, a few good shows and a great travel around Japan. The best part was that they were together. It was the final night at the KKR hotel in Osaka. The most amazing night of both of their lives. (A romance story that I can’t go into) *wink*
By the next couple of months the wife had been feeling slight weird. The husband was off at work. She asked her sister in law to come over to the house to keep her company for they were both off. The wife had taken a pregnancy test and the little plus meant it was positive.
The cheered a bit for the wife was pregnant. It was a huge shock and she just could wait to tell her husband. The sister in law smiled and wanted to go to see how far along she was.
It was night the husband was opening the door to the 2 bed house they lived in. He walks to see candle light and cookies on the table. He smiles and calls for his wife. She walked into the room smiling hugging him. He asked what all the commotion was about. She smiles grabbing his hands smiling. “Baby… I’m pregnant…”
The boy was shocked and looked at her amazed only able to say. “Really?!” She nods smiling in joy. “I am 4 months along…” He hugged her and patted her stomach feeling the little bump. He looked up at her kissing her lips softly but deeply passionately.
5 months seemed to fly by quickly for both of them until the scream of the wife began as she was going into labor. In the car on the way to the hospital the husband was calling everyone he knew that was suppose to be there at the surgery room.
12 hours in labor was hell until finally the doctor smiled and said. “It’s a baby boy!” The wife looked up in happiness holding onto her husbands hand with tears of both pain and joy was falling from her eyes.
That is how Tyler Scott Wyrick was born on July 23rd Tuesday. The wife and now new mother held her son as the husband and new father became a family of 3. It was the best day of the girl and boy who were planning on a family of 5.
