The tarnished silver of a friendship necklace
A promise made years ago, long since forgotten
Half of a heart, attached to a chain forever neckless
The twisted redwood we kissed under, now rotten
Sweet angel, how you’ve fallen from grace
Cast out by God from the pearly gates
For your sinful longing, that human want
A taste of freedom is all you wished for
A deep, gaping maw
darker, darker, and darker still
thunderous waves wild as the wind
churning, pulling me in
and in its arms, I’m caught
like a fish in a net
tangled together in a dance
of fate, never-ending ‘til the end
Kiss away your memories and let the sea take you,
caressing your body, cushioning you with the waves.
Smell the salty air and become one with the ocean blue,
close your eyes and sink deeper, forget the dreary days.
