Titled because the titular Black Parade album is known to be a biography of a person dying from cancer. But cancer is the name of the owner of this site. And given this take regards cancer the disease and not cancer the owner, I didn't want to title this take with the word cancer. Because my hot take today, maybe we shouldn't cure cancer.
I've had family members die of cancer. I've watched them fight it and lose. I've also seen people fight it and win temporarily. Tomorrow I'm going to the memorial service of my aunt who just passed of lung cancer. And I know I'm going to hear all day "Oh poor thing. Cancer's awful. Wish there's more we could have done." But frankly, I don't agree. We humans are so smart. We've outsmarted nature in almost every way. I can't help but feel like cancer being the last thing that actually limits us might be a good thing. Maybe we shouldn't solve it. Yes it's cruel. Nature is cruel. Sometimes it's going to take little kids. It's not going to discriminate. But, if we rid the population of it as a threat, what's to prevent our population from becoming even more out of control?
