The agonizing choice I'm always faced with... Attempt to revive my three-bar team or just focus on beating the damn thing. Without invisibility, and this bitch being able to one-shot me, not much I could do for them. Only had a sacred wakizashi, which is fine because Gladius is weak to holy, and you can get him with bleed which is really what ultimately killed him, that burst of bleed damage. All that for 200 points that I immediately lose because someone in the next round pisses me off. My two oldest nephews were picking on me, saying I never like anyone I play with, and I block anyone who isn't as good as me. Completely not true xD I will say... I don't like the majority of people I play with, and most of them do end up blocked. But it's not because they're bad. They just such tremendously as human beings, and being part of a team. If you're a bad teammate in a game hard focused around playing ad a team... I don't wanna play with you again. Whether you're the worst or best player I've seen, if you're an asshole, nah, get blocked. I mean, I've seen players who seemed super good at the game until they pissed me off, and I stopped helping them, and suddenly they're awful. It would benefit you greatly to not be such a worthless, selfish dick, just saying. My oldest nephew apparently got his first hate message. He left a game, and one of his teammates messaged him to delete the game, and called him an "Elden Bum" which is a new one for me xD It is disappointing to hear he's leaving games. There are certain justifiable reasons to leave occasionally, but... He said he left because they were only level 3 end of night 1. That does suck, but you can still recover. But it was also his first depths run beyond the one round in D3 he played with me. I've tried to teach him that most people are not good at these games. There are way more bad players than good, and if you want to be good, you have to learn how to carry the bad. People who aren't good at the game shouldn't be discouraged from playing it, it's ok to enjoy things you're not good at. But those people have to be dragged across the victory line. You can be the dragger or the draggee. But that's also coming from someone who has been in deep into the Souls games since original Demon's Souls released so.
First time I've ever staggered the worm out of blooming...
Almost 10,000 damage with Wing of Astel, possibly my new favorite skill weapon.
Because it scales with magic... Actually a lot of the best skill weapons, Moonveil/Family Heads/Glintstone Kris, scale with magic so with this particular build you can go skill or sorceries or both very effectively. Kinda perfect for Duchess really.
One of the most difficult decisions I've ever made... The Carian Regal Scepter is obviously an amazing pick, especially since it was still day one, still early. But. I was running skill build so the obvious choice is to take the Kris because it has a really good skill. But. We're fighting Gladius so I'd really prefer a holy dagger, and I'll probably find one eventually since, again, it's still early. So really the best thing to take is improved dodging, oddly enough, because once I find a holy dagger I won't use either Kris or staff. But then it's like... what if I don't find anything better though, and I had the opportunity to get a decent weapon, and decided not to?
With that thinking, I took the dagger xD And did ultimately go on to find a Black Knife, and Halo Scythe so I was real set for holy. But you never know.
Annnnnnd we're leaving xD
Nah. Not putting up with that bullshit from both my teammates, not signing up for dodge simulator 2026. Good luck with that Less Likely to be Targeted, boss gotta target someone, and it looks like it's gonna be the Recluse... Too bad~
You think you're real fucking cute, game...
I decide, hey, I'm gonna use skill build instead of lighting because I'm tired of NEVER getting lightning.
Oh... what's that? You're not gonna use lightning? Cool, have THREE Lightning Spear.
Fuck you xD
The main boss I use lightning for is Darkdrift Knight. The problem with using Lightning Spear against him is that he moves around quickly, constantly so your timing has to be on point. It's much easier to go sorcery, find a good homing spell, and just spam cast on his ass. Much as I love my lightning build, I can almost never find lightning when I'm looking for it, it's just easier to go skill or magic. In fact, that's how it is with most incantations, you have to really consider your aim, and timing while most sorceries home in, making them easier to use. There's just something about incantations that I love though.
I never thought I'd have to tell my 16 year old nephew, "Stop trying to Corpsepiler your sister." xD
I was at my sister's house, and he very proudly showed me his Rivers of Blood replica. And the funny thing is... He's never even made it that far in Elden Ring, he's never gotten past city. He only knows Rivers via Nightreign which, in my opinion, is a watered down version of that beautiful sword. Still good in Nightreign, but not as good. So I watched my nephew play a little bit, and it really made me realize... how unintuitive Nightreign is. The game gives you a tutorial with the very basics, and it forces you to play Wylder so you learn the very basics of Wylder. Then it sets you loose. And if you choose a different character there's nothing to teach you what this character is, and what their abilities are unless you look in the handbook, and who's actually looking in the handbook? Perfect example. My nephew chose Ironeye. Ironeye's most important ability is his mark. When he dashes through enemies he marks them, and when this mark takes enough damage it explodes causing huge damage to whatever it's marked on. It's the only real significant damage Ironeye can give the team. And my nephew had no idea it was even a thing. Because like most people he ran the tutorial then jumped right in, and has no idea how any of the characters work. It occurs to me... how many people are like this? They can play the game, they're not terrible at it, but they also don't play up to their character's potential, and therefore become a burden on a good team. He was playing with two Revenants, neither were using incantations, and were going against extremely Lightning Spear weak Augur, so I feel like... they were all pretty newbish xD
Of course you're gonna give me this amazing relic...
...with rot buildup, you asshole.
You know what, game, I accept that challenge, straight into my lightning build, rot me up, let's get crazy~
It hurts my soul...
Fuck colossal swords. Way to make an OP relic completely useless. It would've looked so shiny in my fire build...
I just love a Revenant throwing a 30 second tantrum, wailing away at me because I refused to drop them MY Frenzied Flame seal. I run dormant seals for the express purpose of getting the Flame of Frenzy. They were running dormant Colossal Swords... and huge surprise, they had an inventory full of colossal swords, no seals aside from their starter seal despite me having never touched any seals around the world, they had their pick of several from what I watched. But the single one I take as a reward from MY rewards pool, the one I'm obviously trying to get if you look at my build... They feel they're entitled to it. Or so they messaged me, and told me, "Revenant gets pick of seals." Not in my fucking inventory they don't. You want seals, stop running colossal swords you little idiot. And who was the three bar? Multiple times even. Why are the worst players always the most entitled/think they're the most valuable? It's like every fucking Ironeye shooting peanuts, and taking Less Likely to be Targeted. If you're contributing the least, you're the least important part of the team, your life is much less valuable, just facts.
The ironic thing is... they fully expected me to give them my seal, but they had a colossal sword, the Godslayer's Greatsword, which has an excellent skill on it, the Queen's Black Flame, and never once offered it to our double Balancers skill build Wylder who had zero fire, was using holy against an ice dragon. Also had the Magma Blade, another sword with a very, very good fire skill. So kinda hypocritical.
Miss, complete whiff, finally nailed it xD
I was getting that final blow even if it killed me. And even so much as a glancing shot would have.
Depth 4 Night Aspect with nothing, but Cipher Pata, my holy fists of retribution. Not necessarily my favorite holy weapon... but it can't always be Halo Scythe, if it was then it'd be pretty boring.
When I say give me the Lightning Spear, just give me the freaking Lightning Spear xD
Because 3-4,000 damage a bolt.
It also helped that these boys fed me Improved Lightning Attack Power all round long. This is how you win in deeper depths, you have to help each other, especially if one of you is hard focused on the boss weakness. Let me have the Lightning 💀
How did we get here xD
Fallen so far from 5... to 2.
Well.
People piss me off. That's pretty much it. Having reached max depth of the depths I decided I no longer care about points or depth level. Which is cool and all. But apparently... A LOT of people piss me off. When you're climbing to depth 5, when you're worried about points, you'll put up with a lot of bullshit because leaving a game will land you up to -800. When you no longer care, because everyone sucks but you, it can only take leaving a few games to lose all your progress. Maybe worth it if every fucking game has a useless fucking Ironeye. Every. Single. One. Who not only takes everything your other teammate obviously dropped, and pinged for you, but every single one also takes Less Likely to be Targeted, and often times BOTH my teammates take Less Likely against the easiest bullshit bosses like Gaping Jaw, and... I just refuse to carry useless teammates. Learn to dodge, bitches. If you can't effectively dodge with your character, choose someone else. I'm not playing to take 100% aggro especially when I'm doing more damage than either of these useless bozos, but I can't do fucking anything because instead I get to play dodge simulator 2026 cause the two little idiots have major skill issues, and can't survive taking any aggro.
That, and the melee characters taking seals when I'm running an incantation build... This is a common occurrence. We land at a incantation seal hut, perfect for ME, but the Wylder, and the fucking Executor immediately rush over, and grab every seal. Goodbye Flame of Frenzy, Lightning Spear, Improved Incantations, hey, I hope all of that helps you, sword boys, more than I would have cause I'm gone, nope, not helping idiots. When I could get the ONE thing for my whole build as soon as we land, I wouldn't have to worry about it all around, but no, useless teammates taking things they don't even use just to take them.
That's pretty much the bulk of it xD Just ass teammates from every depth. People talk about how much better depth 5 is... It's not. Behavior like this still runs rampant even there where you have to rely on your teammates or die, there's no surviving without them. I can't be bothered to help these people get to 5.
