I literally have to explain to this self-proclaimed IT specialist who has been in IT for over 20 years basic settings in Windows and how to access them every time she touches a new PC.
Where do they find these people?
Sure, you can keep taking shots at me. I know how to deal with it.
Think I haven't already survived more than this?
The middle child is getting healthy again. Evidenced by tonight, his appetite is back to where it used to be.
Now we just need to get his strength and stamina back to where it used to be.
Why are weekends just feeling like nothing but work these days?
So many things get stacked up every Saturday, and most every Sunday.
This weekend is just another one. Nothing but running around, and more heaped on me for tomorrow too.
Ridiculous.
It is a shotgun contract and the client had no idea what they were doing, which is why we have this shotgun contract.
And you knew that. And they knew that.
So, should you all have expected anything different thus far?
Feeling this heavy, "Why did I accept this job?" vibe today.
Just had to pause what I was doing to help a client set up his email on an iPhone, because apparently iPhone O/S updates wipe out account settings.
Such a clunky UI to work with. I can't understand how people have a cult love of Apple products, or spend so much money on them.
Meanwhile I figured out he had most of his settings completely wrong, and misspelled his own domain multiple times. Good stuff.
Job for today cancelled which is actually a good thing. Gives me 4 more hours to work on these show videos that have to be done by Saturday which haven't been easy since the client hasn't provided nearly enough time to these, nor any of the old content she wanted integrated into them. So now I'm piecing together two videos from minimal good content.
But, you know, it'll be my fault if they're not happy with it.
Always fun when you have to consult with a union company, and everyone feels like their job is threatened by your presence.
Job interview today went well. Have a 2nd interview tomorrow.
Recruiter invited me to meet with her client to strategize their Win10 migration tomorrow. She said the contract is mine if I want it.
Commercial shoot tonight went smoothly. It might only be for 2 seconds, but locally, I'll be on TV during the Superbowl.
Not the worst Monday in history.
A colleague asked yesterday if I photograph weddings. I told him I do but I don't seek them out. I'll only shoot weddings if asked.
This morning an acquaintance from a community I belong to asked me if I will photograph her wedding.
See how these things work?
Busy day yesterday turned into a lazy Sunday. But, of course I have another event to photograph in 2 hours, with an hour drive to get there, and then to race back to catch a musical act I booked at a local restaurant, so I can just be lazy all day....
Some companies' job application are annoying and invasive.
For one, I sent you my resume. It has my full listing of past jobs. Why the fuck do you need me to relist the last 10 of them on the application? READ MY RESUME.
You want references on the application? Why? You have zero interest in hiring me right now. The information I'm giving you is only to show you my interest, try and get your interest and verify I meet your qualifications. Ask for the references if the interview goes well. If it turns out you're not interested in me, providing this information is a waste of my time.
Already your company is 2 strikes down in the count because you're showing me you don't respect my time.
I indeed let things lie as to not perpetuate the drama, but what I really wanted to close the situation with was saying, "Ladies, your reactions here are the very reason you're all still single."
COMMENTS
I love being single better than being in a relationship that was going nowhere:)...Interesting post though, thanks for sharing.
Sometimes single is better. For these two women, I don't think they feel that way. They often complain/make comments about the lack of male interest in their lives.
I reach out to a local theater to ask what their basics are - seating, seat map, stage size - shit that's usually on the website for people who are inquiring about using the space for a show, but this theater didn't bother to post it.
They respond back with a kind email of, "We're about all booked up for the season, but good luck." and don't answer a single, fucking question I asked.
Who the fuck is in charge of your marketing? Fire them.
Day 1: I'm not sure what to do, but my plans have been thwarted by unplanned assignments.
And tonight I'm acting in a commercial, so there's something.
