One of my favorite places just announced they're closing on February 28th due to the mall they're located in being bought out by developers and scheduled for demolition.
Going to be hard for them to find another place nearby that they can afford to provide their services.
It is a huge loss of the film and arts community.
Parking attendant: "Everything is closed today for the storm. Why are you here?"
Me: "Because I don't get to just not show up to my job due to the weather. Only the important people who work here get to do that."
Truth.
I've got news for you....
The South didn't lose the war.
They surrendered to end it, but those same people have been pulling the strings ever since.
Slavery just looks different today, but it still exists.
When poor people commit crimes they're generally doing so due to a bad situation, desperation or survival.
When rich people commit crimes, they're generally doing so out of greed.
Society always holds those just trying to survive accountable, while very often allowing those committing crimes out of greed to escape without consequences.
That Sacha Riley interview/testimony is wild.
But hey, now that it's a man telling the victims' story, maybe someone on the right will finally listen.
...and there's never been a successful revolution that ended with, "Let's put the greedy billionaires in charge now!"
Rich people don't make the world a better place.
I heard someone recently say, "MLK Jr. was a great man, and his commitment to creating change through peace was honorable, but nothing he did changed anything. Things began to change after he was murdered, and the riots began."
The only thing the status quo responds to is a threat to the status quo.
Protests are great, but only revolutions truly change society.
I repeat... They really should invent a year that is better than the previous year.
"Doc," he said, "some times when the crew is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell them to get out there and give it all they got and win just one for the Zipper. I don't know where I'll be then, Doc," he said, "but I won't smell too good, that's for sure."
Trying to repair the greenhouse after last week's tropical storm level winds across the Great Lakes.
But everything is frozen. All the plants are dead. I know many will bounce back in spring, but... eh, what can you do I guess?
Just going to try to keep it from coming completely apart as we trudge through winter....
Happy New Year, I guess.
They really should invent a year that is better than the previous year.
