I was sitting outside smoking today waiting for my next class to began when I ran into an old face. It was the preist at the Catholic church I use to attend. I have always had much respect for the man, he knew I wasn't christain and respected my views when everyone else didnt. Anyway he stopped and said hello to me, and we got into a deep conversation about faith. The last time he talked to me I was in limbo about my faith I wasnt sure about anything. He asked me if I had any answers since the last time we talked. I smiled and merly said no I dont have any answers but I have a good idea. Then we began to discuss faith and higher powered beings. When he asked me if I believed in God I had to chuckle the asked him, "who or what is God?" He started to ramble on not really saying much then I stopped him in mid sentence. "This is the way I look at it. God Allah Buduha or whatever name you choose to use you are still refering to a higher power, and what is in a name anyways? My name is Melanie but does that explain who I am as a person? No it doesnt it is just something someone uses to address me and get my attention. With the exceptions of a few faiths most do believe in a higher power, the only difference in the religons are they use a different name to call on the higher power, and different traditions to worship. Who's to say we all arent right?" The preist sat and thought about what I said for a little bit and couldnt come up with anything to say. I then explained one other thing. "I have a problem with orginized religion, because I dont need anyone telling me how I should pratice my faith, maybe educate me on yes but to tell me how I should pratice it is another thing. There shouldn't be rules on faith, your faith alone should be enough to help you lead a "good life". Besides the bible is flawed man wrote it therefore it is man interpitation and man is flawed, do you read the National Enquirer and think everything in there is true? It's the same thing."

Today I went to a funeral, a girl that I babysat when I was in Middle School and High School died. She was only 15 yrs old walking home from a school dance and was hit by a car just blocks away from her home. As I sat at the funeral thoughts just cluttered my mind, why her not me. Why someone so young so innocent and had so much life in her? Why not the asshole next to you who doesnt have any concideration for anyone, someone who has lived their life and wants to go but for some odd reason suicide isnt an answer? What is the reason for all of this? So many people have told me there is a reason for this even though you may not understand it, but why cant we understand? I have also been contiplating the meaning of life today and I cant find any answers to this question, I dont understand why I'm here or why anyone is here for that matter. As far as I'm concerned I have wasted so much time doing absoultly nothing. I havent made a profound effect on anyone much less done anything real meaningful in my life so why am I still here? So many questions and yet no answers to be found. I sometimes wish there was some kind of guide handed out to us at birth and help us understand as we get older. Maybe someday I'll have some of the answers maybe not, it's just been one of those days where all these thoughts have rambled into my head and have been driving me crazy.
