“It’s getting late Gale…I better get back home…”
“But I don’t want you to go yet Daniel… please, stay for a bit more…”
A couple lay down on the grass, studying the slowly fading stars as Dawn neared. The girl’s head was lying on the guy’s chest, and she looked totally at peace. The guy ran a hand through his silver hair and smiled, his blue eyes glinting slightly.
“As much as I want to stay here my family would worry if they find me gone” Daniel said, gently stroking Gale’s hair. She turned and gazed at him with her brown eyes.
“Do you really have to?” Gale protested softly, tightening her embrace around Daniel.
“You know I have to…”
“Fine my Lord…” Gale sighed. Daniel just smiled and kissed her lips. “Will you be here tonight?”
“Of course…” Daniel replied kissing her again. Gale stood up and started on the way back home. She paused for a moment and turned, watching as a graceful black dragon rose and sped to the clouds. She hid a smile and turned back to where she was heading. Soon she entered the perimeter of a small town. Nobody was awake yet as Gale walked through the empty streets. She smiled as she remembered how she first met Daniel.
--------------
It has been a few months since these meetings started. It happened one night when Gale was wandering through the empty glade. No one would worry about her; she knew that since the only one who cared about her was dead. Her only companion died a few weeks before, and since then she wasn’t able to sleep properly. It was a beautiful clear night, like the night she spent with her only beloved. She collapsed and curled up at the base of a tree, crying her heart out as pain and sorrow washed over her.
“How come someone as pretty as you would be crying on such a beautiful night?” A voice asked softly. Gale looked up, tears still falling from her eyes, and came face to face with a black dragon. She gasped and backed away against the tree.
“Don’t be afraid…” the dragon said telepathically. It curled in front of her and shuddered as a shadow enveloped it. The shadow went to the ground and in where the dragon laid a boy stood. He was dressed in white pants and a blue top, almost like royalty.
“W-who are you?” Gale asked. The boy merely smiled at her.
“My real name…I cannot say, but you may call me Daniel…” He bowed, taking her hand and pressing it to his lips. “And you are?”
“G-gale…Gale Thedas…” she answered, almost in a whisper. Daniel laughed.
“You don’t need to be so scared.”
“Well a dragon just appeared before me and shifted into a boy…what do you expect my reaction to be?” Gale said, turning away and wiping her tears.
“Oh I’m sorry, I was just taking a walk…and I saw you crying…so I came…” Daniel said before turning away. “If you want me to, I’ll leave…”
“N-no…stay…” gale grasped his hand. “Please…”
Daniel turned and looked at her eyes, then nodded, sitting down beside her.
The first few nights passed in silence. Every time Gale left for a walk at night Daniel was already there, sitting under the tree. The next few nights, they began to talk. Daniel turned out to be a bit spoiled by his parents, provided with everything he could want, but still Gale found a gentle kind of comfort in hearing him speak, and soon looked forward to these short meetings. She told him everything, including the death of her best friend. In turn she learned a lot about him. He was the prince of a kingdom in the skies. A month later Daniel admitted his growing love and Gale admitted feeling the same thing.

“Who would ever though it would be like this?” Gale said softly to herself as she went into house.

“Daniel?” Gale said softly as she rested her head on his shoulder. He smiled and placed an arm around her waist. “I have a question…”
“What is it?”
“Are you and angel?” Gale asked with a smile.
“I think I’m too much of a sinner to be one…” Daniel replied laughing. His arm tightened around Gale.
“You know what…I think that you can have any girl in this world…then why did you pick me?”
“Why, don’t you like that?”
“No I mean…there are a lot of girls, far prettier, richer and probably kinder than me…then why did you pick me?”
“Hmm…they might be what you say but they still lack one thing…”
“What?”
“They’re not you.”
Gale blushed as Daniel laughed. “Do you think we’ll be together for a long time?”
“Yeah…”
“It’s almost dawn again Daniel…”
“I know…time just goes by so fast…”
“I know…I better go now…I still have something to do before the sun rises…” Gale said standing up.
“Alright…but Gale…”
“Yes?”
“Hurry back to me okay?” Daniel said softly, embracing her tightly.
And it ended just like that. The next night Gale came to the place Daniel wasn’t there. She stayed, thinking it was late…but still he didn’t appear, even when Dawn came. It happened the next day, and the day after that…until a month passed and there was no trace of the boy Gale loved.
She grew thinner, and silent. People said she didn’t even come out of her house anymore, except to go to the glade at night. One night, she didn’t come back home.
The town went on a search to where she might have gone to but they never found her body. A little girl who played near the tree found a beautiful blue flower shaped like a rose growing at the base of the tree that Gale loved. Thinking that it was a nice gift to her mother, she reached to pick a blossom. To her horror blood flowed from the broken stem. People were called by her frantic screams.
Another night, two lovers were taking a romantic stroll in the glade when they saw a silhouette sitting at the base of the tree. She was crying softly. But when they came near she vanished.
People say this was Gale’s spirit. She still sits there under the tree, waiting for the return of her beloved dragon prince, Daniel.
Author's note: I dedicate this to my beloved Dracos...I dont know what happened...
