Chapter 1
It was an unusually warm, sunny, dry January day in Lakewood, Washington but Meindrea liked it. It was a nice break from all the rain anyways. Not that she didn’t like the rain, she loved to walk in it but sometimes it was better when it went away. Besides, she liked how the warm breeze was making her black hair blow back behind her, how the sun made her green eyes gleam like the stars and made her pale skin bright. As she was thinking about all this she was sitting on part of a fallen down wall at Old Western in Steilacoom Park. She loved to come here and think because she knew she would almost always be alone.
Meindrea came out of her thoughts and looked down at her all-black clothes and realized she was getting kind of warm. So she decided to get up and stretch. As she stood up she heard the sound of foot steps and turned towards the part of the surrounding fence that faced the lake. As she looked she took a few steps forward so she could see better. The sight that met her eyes did not please her. ‘Oh no! What am I going to do?” she thought while watching three muscular, creepy looking guys walking closer. Meindrea took a step back to try to sneak out another side of the fence but stepped on broken glass causing it to make a crunching noise. Unfortunately the men heard it and saw Meindrea before she got a chance to hide. “Hey honey, what are you doing here all alone?” one of them asked with a smirk on his face as they all got closer. “Well...umm…I…” Meindrea said starting to panic. “Well…umm…You what?” another one mocked getting to close for comfort. “I was just about to,” Meindrea paused for a second, “run!” she yelled as she turned around and ran back onto the fallen down parts of the abandoned hospital and kept running.
Meindrea ran not daring to look back as she headed to the middle of the ruble then up onto another part and into a stairwell of the mostly fallen down hospital. As she ran up the stairs she heard her pursuers coming after her, “Where could she have gone?” one asked. “I don’t know,” another said, “but let’s split up and look.” Meindrea got up the stairs as far as she could go before the building ended. She then turned around and watched the stairs hoping no one else would come up them. As she watched she felt someone grab her shoulder and screamed. “Be quite, they’ll hear you.” A voice said from behind her. Meindrea turned and saw a very sexy man standing there. He had short black hair, attractive brown eyes and deathly pale skin. He was wearing black Tripp pants with red stitching, a black HIM hoody and black and white Converse shoes. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?! You shouldn’t scare people like that!” Meindrea yelled. “Will you stop yelling? Do you want them to come up here?” the man said raising his voice, almost yelling to. “Excuse me? Now who’s yelling?” she argued. “Well, if you’d stop pissing me off maybe I wouldn’t be. I mean, I’m just trying to help you out of this mess.” He said, calming back down starting to sound a little shy. “Oh,” Meindrea said kind of awkwardly, “sorry. By the way, my name’s Meindrea. What’s your’s?” She blushed slightly. “It doesn’t matter,” he said listening to something, “do you hear that?” “Hear what?” Meindrea looked confused but then heard the footsteps of the men coming up the stairs. “Oh no,” she started looking scared again, “I’ll never get away now.” The man put one of his hands on Meindrea’s face and gently turned it towards his. “Yes, you will.” As her eyes met his she felt a strange calm coming over her. “But how?” She felt hot tears rolling down her cheeks. “Just sleep my love.” Meindrea suddenly felt light headed. The last thing she saw was the floor rushing up at her, the last thing she remembered was his sweet embrace catching her.
