Recession Fighters!

20:31 May 18 2008
Times Read: 616

I got a new idea last night.

With rising cost of living, gas and food prices, not too many are getting raises to meet expenses. Many of us have had to take on other jobs and turn to selling items to get by. (I still can't believe that made front page news!)

I decided that in a recession, we should at least take care of, and support our own whenever and wherever we can. So that's why I started a new group, RecessionFighters. I envision it as a place where we can buy from each other, help each other out, and post tips for finding side projects and stretching the buck. If you don't have a "MyWasteOfSpace" account (thank you Kshandra for the coining of "MyWasteOfSpace"), then please be patient, I will be getting RecessionFighters.org up within a couple of days.

There is a for sale topic, help wanted topic, a topic for tips on finding work, a topic for tips on stretching the dollar, and a topic for each category of skills that we might have. You can post what skills you have over there, and we can try to do our best to support each other. If you think this is a good idea, come and join the group over there, pitch in, and post your suggestions for surviving this pinch.

Together, we have more power than we think.

I thank you.

I didn't do it officer, I swear!

I didn’t do it officer, I swear!

I have no idea about the how, when or even whereabouts of his dissapearance.

I'm not saying that I'm sad that he's gone, in fact I look forward to more volume, more peaceful transactions, and happier customers now that the bootlegging herb leech that was deceiving, not labeling properly and not informing customers properly is no longer selling under my brand name;

or under any of my competitors' brand names either, for that matter.

Curious....

No not curious.

No cat killing!

En Paperweight*

09:38 May 06 2008
Times Read: 632

I'm thinking about writing a second book.

I never got the first one published because:

#1. I need help figuring out what other avenues there are besides POD and

#2. I got some feedback from several sources that I need to modify it to either put more of the 'cee in, or cut him out entirely.

I started a rewrite, but it's currently en paperweight*.

BUT. In the interest of "write what you know."

Having been homeless once and struggling many times during my life,

I think I might write a post Y2K "Drepcession" Survival Guide.

It occurs to me, that quite a few times I have started down the path of homeless advocacy, but it would seem the second I turn away toward other interests, things seem to get rough all over again.

The fleeting thought occurs that the good lord will keep throwing me back down until I finally finish this project.

*en paperweight = on a hard drive that is currently making weird clunking noises whenever it is on.

We made front page of the local paper!

We made front page of the local paper! lol

I can't believe we made front page. I got four copies.

The article is not in a terrible light. I'm rather impressed with how he wrote it. And I'm amazed he used my ad headline for the headline of the story. It's not bad. It could have been much worse. He thanked us for the interview, he said without ppl willing to share their story, the article could not have been written.

In keeping with my: "You Are Not Alone" philosophy, I did the interview because I thought it was important for people to know that we're all in this together. It's bad everywhere.

Here it is: For better or for worse:

It is bad, and while things seem out of grasp, keep to what is important and you will not only make it through you will thrive.

Priorities....

Michelle Belanger (Vampire Codex author) wrote me and asked if I wouldn't mind putting some of her books at my table at Dragon Con. She was also saying she might want to hold a signing there.

Yes, ma'am, It would be my honor!

W00T! I am psyched!

I need to call dragon con pplz and find out what my investment will be for the space I need.

I know there are no partial payments for dragon con, so I need to somehow find the money to pay for all of it quick in order to register before spaces are filled.

Oh, and I need to pay my electric bill (over $500) or it will be shut off in 8 days.

Yay priorities.....

On the job front:

Second interview was lukewarm. They went from wanting to hire me on the spot to "We're not making any final decision until our last team member comes back from vacation."

Glug.

Oh, Finally...

I've started taking vitamins, glucosamine, condroiton, and fish oil. We shall see what that does for me if I can stick to it.
