My rose I can not have

You sit there in my garden

So tempting and inviting

I just want to have you

I want to keep you close

You shine out the most brilliant color

The deepest hue I have ever seen

It is so unworldly

Are you too sweet to be real

Am I just lusting for you

Or are you genuine

Do you flaunt your beauty

So that I may covet it

Or do you give it to me

As a gift of love

You return my feeling

And I have felt your affection

I have been given your beauty

You have allowed me to savor you



But now that I have tasted you

Something lingers

A feeling of disappointment

You don’t seem as sweet

Your gift has no value

Your color is now duller than before

You were even less than I thought

You are just a flower

And nothing more

A flower in my garden

That wilts with time

Just like my feelings for you

You always shine out the brightest colors

Always for me

You always make me feel breathless

I feel like you are my best friend

You always know what is wrong

No one can keep me from you

But it would seem that you have lost your brightness

You don’t shine as bright for me anymore

Your light has been caught on someone else

Now they get to see how wonderful you are

Did you forget about me

Where are you

I can’t see you anymore

It’s only darkness

I guess now you have someone else to shine for

But the problem is

I have fallen in love with you

I love how you shine



I love all the colors

But now you shine for another

And now I must go

I will miss you
