She sat still with her knees drawn up to her chest as if to protect herself from an invisible storm, the grey light of the dawn leeching the colour from her skin except for the light pink and purples beginning to emerge across her back, legs and face. He watched her as intensely as she watched him, as he crossed the room fascinated by the stillness that surrounded her as her gaze met his, he felt as if he could cross the room in a second and snap her neck like a chicken but he would not, he had spent a lot of precious time and effort on this creature, he had warn her down, gently manipulating her, tarring her down, piece by soft flesh coloured piece. But as he watched this young thing her gaze unwavering from his own he wondered where she was, to which world he had sent her. He knew what he had done, and he had enjoyed the power that it had given him. Meeting the eyes of this young child for the last time, until his urge to have her again took hold in his veins, he was comforted to find, for all the mesmerising power he had once found in these pretty eyes, she had been broken, he had gained the control over this creature that he craved. And in that second he knew even if she would remember this day, she would never disclose the bond between them, never reveal what he had done and he left the room content.
As he left the room, the child’s gaze turned to the window, the curtains which someone had torn away in the night and used to stop the whimpers now lay discarded next to an empty bottle of whiskey letting the dusty light flood the floor as it started turning from grey to pink She blinked slowly in the light as the pain from her wounds slowly spread through her abdomen and up to her rib cage. There she sat as the world below slowly woke to a new day. A few droplets of blood on the dusty floor boards the only sign that a few short hours ago she had been subjected to the torture and beating of a wretched animal then subdued by the hot sticky skin and bitterly sour breath of her captives.
She tried to think, only emptiness. She tried to speak, only whispers, She tried to cry, only silence.
She was broken.
