Cryptic messages from family members sure are fun to get at 7 in the morning.... Something about one of my cousins being in the hospital but no reason for why will be given. I really hope it doesn't have anything to do with the guy she's engaged to.
But, the way things were worded, I think it could also be a 5150 thing. She's... She's into drugs and other things, and while I don't really judge a person's personal life, I could see how things could lean that way until a 5150 was necessary.
I don't play that game, my dude.
In awesome Disney related news, an hour ago it was announced that Bob Chapek was outted as CEO and Bob Iger has been brought back to replace him. Granted, this is only a two year deal, so they best start looking for a suitable replacement, but it's amazing news. Hopefully things will get back on track with Disney. The parks should really be the primary focus, because it's what Chapek fucked with the most. The reservation system, the limiting of (and eventual inability to buy new at Disneyland) annual passes, the gutting of live entertainment, limiting attendees while also increasing prices across the board, making a free system something you now have to pay for, moving Imagineers to Florida (and firing those who wouldn't make the move), Don't Say Gay... If Iger was smart he would get rid of the reservation system, open the parks back up to full capacity, and bring back the ability to buy annual passes, and drop the $20 Genie+ nonsense. That alone would make so many people happy and bring back a lot of lost business. If I could get my annual pass back I'd be there every fucking weekend I could manage it, spending at least a hundred bucks a trip. But that fact that I can't even get a pass (any pass, not even the top tier one I had before) means I have no justification to spend that kind of money at Disneyland. Plus, if they drop the reservation system, they could bring back the top tier pass since there would be no blackout dates again. And that lawsuit about it would no longer have any bearing.
But yeah. It's unprecedented and a total shock that this happened at, like, 7 on a Sunday night. I'm excited but also apprehensive. I know what Iger has done In the past with his privious tenure as CEO, but that could all mean nothing and he could take things in a whole new direction. I guess only time will tell.
But fuck, I'd really love to be able to get an annual pass again and spend my free time at Disneyland and California Adventure.
I irked me that the focus became so much about money and no so much about the experience that Walt wanted guests to have... having to pay per night to park your car at a hotel, doing away with the free transport from airport to resorts, just so much more all irked me... Mind you I will still go because it's my favorite place in the world to go (Disney World/never been to Land yet), however I am still an irritated customer over the price hikes and extra expenses.
Yeah, I couldn't list all the things that got messed with at Walt Disney World, since I've never been and don't see myself going anytime soon. But I do know what was screwed with at Disneyland. And not to mention the fact that cast members hated Chapek. I know a few cast members who are extremely happy with having Iger back. Even if all that's done is that ticket prices are brought down to something reasonable again, I'd go. But I can't justify $140-200 (depending on the day) just to attend Disneyland, where quite a number of rides are currently out of commission. Indiana Jones is closed indefinitely, Pirates is closed until next year, after the holidays, the Haunted Mansion will be closed for a bit while they take down all the Nightmare Before Christmas stuff. Then there's the price for parking, the price for food and drinks, the price or any souvenirs. The overall price isn't at all justifiable currently. Not that I could even get a ticket from now until like, the middle of January... But yeah. If they did away with the reservation system alone, it would be so much better.
Disneyland is my happy place, and the brief time that I had my annual pass was probably the happiest I'd been in a long time. Having not been to a Disney park in over 20 years to finally being able to go whenever I wanted, that was magical. And I miss that. I'd pay anything to be able to do it again.
We were last there (World) in Jan of 2020.... I am realllly wanting to go back, so is my little.... so maybe things will straighten out and it will be more cost efficient in the near future! :)
Happy first day of Christmas, kids!
Exaggeration, of course. But also, kinda not really. I love Halloween, but Christmas is absolutely my favorite holiday, and I revel in this time of the year. Christmas music is starting to play, everything's done up in pretty lights. I'm sorry, Thanksgiving, but you don't really matter. It's Halloween up until 11:59 on October 31st, and come midnight, Christmas!
