Dawn

00:09 Feb 03 2010
Times Read: 532

The last part of the story returns to where it began.

Life as an immortal is not all that it may seem. It is filled with loneliness and is only for some. Not everyone is able to handle the life as a vampire.

In the first, the sun is said goodbye to, but here, the sun returns one last time.

Dawn

Dawn is coming.

Me and my kind are meant to live in darkness.

For we are the damned: the hunters of the night.

We pray upon the living and stay out of the light.

For it will burn and scorch our skin,

And we will die in pain and agony

But today I'll risk all that,

Just to see that burning sun

And to feel that fire consume me

with the coming of the dawn.

very well written - you're quite talented. Keep it up, by all means.

Hunger

00:01 Feb 03 2010
Times Read: 533

In this part of the story, the beauty and mystery is gone, and reality hits.

The true nature of the vampire sets in and it is unappealing to be controlled by such a baser instinct.

Hunger

Like tendrils of darkness,

It surfaces and devours its prey.

It seizes control of my mind and body.

At an instant bend to it’s desire

And commit the most evil of sins.

Only one thing can satisfy this undying hunger.

The crimson essence of live: blood.

Awakening

23:50 Feb 02 2010
Times Read: 534

This is the second poem in the story.

The first described accepting the "dark gift" and letting go of the life before.

This describes the true beginning of immortality and the initial beauty and mystery of it all.

Awakening

Buried beneath the ground, I lay still.

From within my grave I heard your melody.

The rhythmic music of your heart beat.

The captivating song of life.

Its entrancing sound lured me from my slumber.

It was then I knew I would live again.

Rebirth

23:41 Feb 02 2010
Times Read: 536

This is the first of four poems that act as a story.

They are short, but each describe the life of a newly turned vampire.

This particular section is the beginning the vampire's journey.

I do not specify whether the vampire is male or female so the reader can think of the vampire as themselves instead of just another character in a story.

Rebirth

I say farewell to the setting sun

I will no longer walk among its burning light.

I greet the moon with open arms

and embrace the coming night.
