Yesterday I had to attend my staff's mother's wake(funeral) ... she was 94.
Traditional Chinese wakes are very lavish especially when it is for someone who has lived a long life and has many grandkids / great grandkids.

The wake is held for almost 7 days ... 24 hours ... loads of food ... gathering of relatives. It is almost a get together to celebrate the deceased's life.

When I reached there ... we sat at the table ... munched on nuts and talked. Later we were served a variety of dishes. We gave condolences money (which is recorded) and before leaving we paid our respects to the deceased. Bowing and joss stick offering.

Of course we had certain rules to follow. Like clothes ... as outsiders ... we are required to wear dark / dull colours.
When leaving the wake, we don't say 'bye' ... we just leave quietly.

For a history / culture / religion enthusiast like me ... it was an amazing experience. I have been to many different wakes but this was different.

Even though I am Asian myself ... I do so many things in routine without knowing the meaning and essence of it. Just because we have been doing it all our lives. But being reminded of the religious and cultural meaning behind things is important.

So I accidently touched my colleague's butt. It wasn't even a touch. More of slight brush against-ish.
Now he keeps calling me a pervert!

I swear it was an honest mistake ... I was walking past him and my arms were swinging and I accidently .... o.O .... touch-ish his butt. That little brat is going around teasing me. I am going to kill him!
