The Wedding.

“Stupid surgery. I hate this. It is the day of my wedding and I am wrapping myself in bandages.”

I stood there in front of my vanity carefully wrapping my torso up so that it wouldn't hurt much the rest of the day. It’s a lot of pain but doesn't seem as bad as last night. I think I am starting to get used to it.

I see Vincent rise out of his coffin. He stretches and sings in a stellar tenor to himself, the lyrics of an old English folk song that was almost as old as he was. The Cuckoo. I watch him walk into his closet and dress himself. Today the suit he wearing was the one he has shown me a few days ago. Every time he gets a new suit he tells me all about it. “It’s just under $900,000 and is the product of 600 man hours. The laborious process explains the suit’s rarity— only three in the world exist. Deemed “The Suit”, it features a cashmere wool and silk blended fabric studded with 480 single cut diamonds— each of them .5 carat. The R. Jewels Diamond Edition was made to measure for me by world renowned Luxury designer Stuart Hughes.” He is always so excited about his clothing.

I finished wrapping up and looked over at my dress. I know I am smiling ear to ear because my face starts to get sore. I walked over, still a bit wobbly, and reached out to it, touching its fine material. A cascade of shimmering silk and lace that was fitted perfectly to me. The silk would be just high enough to cover my bandages yet still show my back and a bit of my stomach. The skirt fell softly off the manikin it was placed on and had a small train to follow. It was the perfect white it looked like I was going to wrap myself in snow. I walk back to my vanity and began curling and pinning my hair into a half up half down design. It was its natural long pale blonde today. “Ugh I am shaking so much, this is going to be difficult.”

Just as I say that, my little sister bursts through the door. “I’ll do it!” Anastasia De LaClaire, a pretty little thing my sister is. She has a great figure, medium length brown hair, sparkling eyes, and a sparkling personality to match.

As she is striding towards me, happy as a lark, I see Vincent checking his suit in my mirror. It was his absolute best outfit. As I watched him put his tie on, I remembered what he told me about it yesterday.“The Satya Paul Design Studio Tie, a company with roots in the early stages of India’s fashion industry, it was the most expensive necktie in the world at a fashion show aptly titled “Cultural Ties” in Mumbai on October 29th, 2003. This unique tie is made of pure silk with a pattern in 150 grams of gold. It’s also adorned with 271 diamonds weighing 77 carats total.” He tied it a little too long. He untied it and began to try again. I decided I should help so I stood up and turned to face him.

I fixed it to the perfect length and smiled sweetly at him. "There you are dear. You know, it's bad luck to see me before the wedding. I think you should go get a drink for a while until it starts."

He kissed me on the cheek, slipped on his shoes, and exited. I knew he was sitting back in the lounge ordering a martini, dirty, one olive. I giggle, why do I know that?

“Okay Ana. Fix me up.” Ana smiles, walks over, and begins to do my makeup. For some reason my nerves are keeping me from sitting still and I fidget with my seat. “Quit wiggling Rose. I need to finish this." Ana scowled as I moved in my chair. "Sorry Ana.” I looked around the room moving only my eyes and stopped at my dress. I am going to need help getting that thing on in my current state. "Hey Ana. Can you help me into my dress when you are finished with my make up?" I gesture over to it and see her smile with delight.

"Of course Rose." Ana smiled at me and retrieved the dress. She then helped me step into it. A few buttons, some lace, and a zipper later, I was fully dressed. I slipped in to the matching heels and smiled at her. "Rose, you look so pretty!" Ana squealed as she admired me. She just gotten to play real life Barbie with her sister. I smile and look at myself in the mirror. I am glad my little sister is with me. No doubt my other sister is in the throne room fussing over arrangements. Oh Ava, “It all has to be perfect Rose! No mess ups in my sister’s wedding!”I giggle and look back at Ana. "I wouldn't be this pretty without your help." She smiles at me."Oh Rose, you're always this pretty." Ana spoke brightly. "Thank you Ana." I smile and pull her into a tight hug.

My mind begins to wonder and I think about Vincent. I am sure he is in the other room playing with his silver Springfield GI .45. He most likely has it on him in case someone causes an issue. He’s probably pulling the ring from his suit pocket and inspected it before returning it to its place over and over again.

Out of nowhere Ana squealed. "You’re getting married sis!" The excitement in her was so great; I felt the whole house lighten.

"Can we speed this up? I am about to explode!" Ana cried out with a huge smile.

It's will start soon sis." I giggled

"Not soon enough Rose!" Ana pouted.

Giggling I turned to face the mirror and look at myself. I do look wonderful. I sigh happily and look to Ana. "Well, looks like I am ready. I'll stay in here. Go see if Vince is ready ok."

Ana runs out of the room and I can hear her scream at the top of her lungs. "VINCENT!"

I pace back and forth and decided to stand by the hall door. I peek through the crack and see that Ana didn’t have to go far to find him. Ana looked at him a bit annoyed and tapping her foot. "Are you ready?”

"Always." He said.

She smiled down at him. "Then let's go!"

Vincent smiled at Ana, cool as a cucumber. He had been married before, but he said each was different. He was happy and content as he walked with her

Ana pulled out her sword and poked him with it. "Now then, let’s get you to that alter!"

I watched her poke him the whole way there. Ana, you are so silly some times.

I watched Vincent check his Rolex as he walked from the lounge. He walked to the Dining hall/Throne room which had been redone overnight for the wedding. Everyone was in place. He took his spot. He, as king, would conduct the ceremony. He had already moved an ivory and sapphire throne next to his. A white diamond crown sat on its plush white velvet cushion. It was almost identical to his own black crown, only daintier. The Hellbond theme of "O Verona" was sung by choir as he took his place and waited. He looked every inch the god that his people believed him to be. I knew he was doing this because it is just as we practiced.

I hear the music from the other room and my heart stops. I am alone in my chamber. It almost feels as if I couldn't move. I walked over and pick up my bouquet of white and pale blue roses. I slowly walked to the door of my room and out into the hall. Each step was haunting and deep. I felt every movement of mine, every breath, taking their sweet time. In fact, it seemed time was trying to stop but couldn't. I won’t let time stop. I come to the corner of the hall that met with the with the throne room, and I freeze. I can’t move. My heart is beating extremely fast and my breaths are shallow. I can feel my cheeks flush with heat, knowing they are their shade of pale pink showing of my emotions to the world to spite my best mask. I close my eyes and take a deep breath. Just as I open them, Ana is there smiling sweetly at me. "Ready sis?" I smiled at her. "Yes Ana, I am." We walk around the corner and my eyes lock on Vincent.

Vincent’s white eyes gazed out, flecks of the palest blue glinting in the light. He turned slightly with lion-like grace to face me as I walked up to him. I could tell by his eyes, he was thinking “beautiful.” He held out his hand to guide me up the stairs.

Ana and Ava, my younger sisters, follow behind as my maids of honor, followed by my beautiful daughter Nell. My eyes never left Vincent. I took one step followed by another as I slowly made my way to the altar. Each step was lighter and lighter and soon I felt as if I was floating. We stopped at the end of the isle, then Ava and Ana each whispered into Vincent's ear. Ava simply gave him her blessing and smiled warmly. Ana however felt it necessary to tell Vincent her real thoughts. "If you her hurt, I'll kill you, slowly painfully, and you will rue ever being born." She gave him her most intimidating face which was still adorable. She then stepped to the side with Ava as the second Maid of honor. Nell stood beside them. She looked beautiful in the dress I had chosen for her. I remembered what she told me the night before. “Mom, I am so happy you and father are finally getting married.”

A hint of the most devilish grin played on his lips at Ana and her words. His eyes never left his mine. He retained composure and waited for me to take my place. Slash grunted, not dressed up a bit and standing behind Vincent with his arms crossed, fulfilling his role as best man. Vincent did not breathe as I neared. If he could have blushed or cried he would have. If his heart could yet race it would be pounding. I could feel the emotions resonating from his very soul. I took my place and my face broke into a sweetly love filled smile. Fighting back the happiest of tears, I stood there, still as ice, melting under his gaze. It felt like years, though it was only a few seconds. There was no one there but the two of us. It was wonderful.

Vincent looked at me with the most loving expression. His head turned and his eyes swept over the crowd. He looked one in the eyes as if daring them to move a millimeter in protest to this union under pain of horrific and prolonged death. His eyes softened and his voice pierced the air. The silver tongue and gentle tone, along with the slight southern accent swept the room. This was known as "The Voice" that so many rumors spoke of and that I fell in love with. "Ladies, Gentlemen. You today shall bear witness to the union of myself, and my dear sweet Rose. We gather here in reverence towards the powers that be which has led to such a happy occasion. By my right as King I shall conduct the ceremony. Be seated."

I watched as my best friends Clairice sat down along with so many others. This is it. It is finally happening. I am marring my love. I look quickly at my sisters who give me a reassuring smile and it instantly calms my nerves. I look at them once more and see Ava shoot me a quick wink which makes me smile. I look out at the crowd. Even if Vincent and I weren't getting married, these people where and would always be my family.

Vincent continued his speech after everyone was seated. He turned to me and looked into the depths of my eyes. “Rose, by your own right, do you consent to be my wife, and Queen from now until the end of existence and beyond?" I took a shallow breath. I just barely managed to speak. "I Do." A single tear of joy fell from my eye. He smiled and paused to wipe away the tear so my makeup wouldn't mess up. Then, it was my turn. I took another breath and spoke clearly so everyone could hear me. "Vincent, by your own right, do you consent to being my husband, partner, and King until the end of time, even in death, and beyond?" I waited for his reply anxiously."I do." After another long passionate look at me, he turned to the crowd looking at each one again. He spoke. "If anyone has any reason that we may not be wed, please....stand up." I looked at him and saw that look in his eyes that always meant trouble. He raised his right hand and the white curtains surrounding the hall fell revealing no less than five firing squads of V-corps Crimson Cossack elite soldiers. All guns at the ready, loaded and hair triggered.

I scowl at him and whisper sternly. "Vincent Von Hellbond. Is that really necessary?"

"Absolutely." ~He smiled~

I see a random member of the audience stand and start to protest against our marriage. Not two seconds after, he was shot on spot. Then I see Nightz stand up and walk out. I would probably do the same. In fact I am surprise that only one person did. Just then I realize how angry I am at him. Damn it Vincent, this is our wedding for Christ’s sake. You think you could have a bit of decency at a time like this. I mean, at least wait until after the wedding. Not in front of everyone! I look up at him angrily but don’t wish to cause more of a scene. I raise my hand and the curtains went back up as I gripped his hand tightly cracking a finger or two. He starts to speak again and I am calmed slightly by his voice.

"By my right I now pronounce us, man and wife." He smiled at me as I gripped his hand so tightly. I know what this man thinking and it’s so wrong.

I smile and look at him lovingly. Even with his crazy I love this man. This controlling, trigger happy, maniac. I love him to pieces and that would never change. Even if he did make me mad....during our wedding....with guns. Oh this man is going to drive me insane alright.

He took me in his arms. He leaned in slowly. He whispered to me. “You, this little nagging, frustrating, adorable, stick in the mud, are now my wife. I will now seal it with a kiss.” He loved me so much it hurt, I could tell. Good thing he likes pain. His head tilted slightly to the right as his lips brushed against mine. I wrapped my arms around him and as I felt his lips, pressed my own lips against them, pouring all of my love into this one kiss. Finally we are married. Finally.
