Author: housedelioncourte

Looking hungry right outside my doorstep
sits a lonely girl in tattered clothes.
Shaking with the cold, dirty and unkept,
she knocks upon my door with trusting hopes.

Little does she know of my behavior,
about the life that I am doomed to lead,
and with the hopes that I may be her savior
she doesn't see that I would rather feed.

Lured by lighted candles in the doorway,
thinking what a haven she has found,
believing in the safety that I portray,
she isn't quite aware of her surrounds.

She doesn't see the coffin in the corner,
doesn't see the blood-stain on my lips,
doesn't notice as I, to support her,
kneel beside her, lift her to my hips.

Feeling all her childhood youth surrender,
to the aching thirst that I obey,
realising I'm not her defender,
but a living dead without decay.

Kicking, screaming, crying out to someone,
anyone to help her as she dies,
as before she gets no help from no one,
they have all grown immune to her cries.
