Captain John J. Sheridan assumed command of the Babylon 5 space station on 8th January 2259 following the reassignment of Commander Sinclair. Sheridan is a celebrated tactical thinker who is particularly good at fighting a superior enemy and overcoming adverse odds. He is also a patriot who will fight to protect Earth from both internal and external threats.

Babylon 5 Space Station
The station is five miles long, and its casing alone weighs 2.5 million tons. It can house approximately a quarter of a million inhabitants at a time and is normally visited by between 50 and 60 ships each day. In case of attack, Babylon 5 is equipped with a defense grid, blast doors and four squadrons of star furies.
