What initial visual response does a person ponder when Dracula is mentioned? Some people will have images of a masculine figure with a white- pale face with extra sharp canine teeth and red lips, a widow’s peak, and maybe even a dark cloak. The fascination of Dracula and vampires was established by Abraham (Bram) Stoker with his novel of Dracula, the fascination is still seen in today’s film and novel entertainment. Each decade brings with it a new breed of vampirism, although the same concept which was brought to life during the medieval era in Britain still remains intact. Bram Stoker’s Dracula introduced the fascination of vampires and legacy which has survived the test of time; the frustration of sex in Bram Stoker’s novel on vampires may explain our obsessive fascination with these gothic characters. It is important when discussing this subject to discuss the time period the novel was written, the exogamous acts in the novel, and the fear of foreigners...
