There were mysteries to solve out in the broken land leagues from any civilization on the lightly populated planet. Beth took over while her relatives recovered from a fall, doing the sampling and analyzing of the rocks and scrubby life, adding to the scientific knowledge about the area. She was alone except for her family’s young assistant who seemed more of a hindrance than a help, but he had been the one to save her aunt and uncle and she supposed he was better than being entirely on her own.
