A highly stylized and over the top ''horror metal'' group, their style is a mixture of black metal, gothic metal and Mercyful Fate-styled riffing, with a lot of emphasis put in the theatrical aspect of music. A similar approach often causes the music to be 'style over substance' (as in Cradle of Filth), but fortunately isn't the case with this French group.

Le Théâtre du Vampire is a highly creative and original album, and the exaggerated horror imagery is used in a proper way. The best tracks are the vicious opener, the riff driven "Bouffon, bloody bouffon", the black metallic "Sleigh ride through Transylvanian winterland" and the stunning 15 - minute "Spiderella'a XXX", which may really scare you and give you shivers. A highly recommended album for all fans of heavy music.
