Most of the public imagine Angels to all be pure, peaceful, and loving, but what about Arch Angels? They're created to fight and slay in the name of Heaven. To kill without remorse. Would you ever want to come face to face with a creature who could do that? This is inspired by something I once heard Todd McFarlane say once. Though, I can't quite remember his exact quote? Anyway, what is your take on the concept of Arch Angels?
Arch Angels are warriors of the above, I said above because both, Heaven and Hell, maintain their own "Army" of Angels. That is only if we assumed that the Heaven and Hell exist. St Michael, In According to the theologists, was the One who brought Lucifer under control. And yes, many Humans tend to believe that Angels are just those little pure men and women with wings and a harp. For me, their world, which is always at war which each other is parallel to our world, and sometime, they cross into our.
I don't believe in heaven, or hell either, they are christian concepts.
i will say the same as I did in the demonic thread that angels are souls that reside as humans and live amongst us, just the same as demons

While I'm not sure what I believe, for literary purposes I tend to go along with this point of view as it relates to the 'angelic host'.
According to Angels A-Z: (Paraphrased)
“Arch only means principle or prominent angel. The literal translation is chief angel. It depends on where you source your information as to how many of them there are. Some say four, six, seven or nine archangels. Michael, Gabriel and Raphael are all accepted but the rest is up to the source. These are the others sometimes mentioned: Uriel, Raguel, Zadkiel, Saraqael, Remiel, Anael, Orifiel, Uzziel, Razeil and Metatron. The Koran only recognizes four and names only two, Djibril which is Gabriel and Michael. They are messengers who bring Divine Decrees from Diety to man. They are in charge of the armies with Michael being the main leader.”
"Host" was added in but isn't the proper translation. It is Heavenly Army. This is anecdotal but in a channeling I was attending, the teacher was asked about arch angels, lol and his response was they were nothing. They just watered the grass on various planets. He was joking of course. We think of certain attributes being human but it really is relating to a lot of beings.
Certain groups believe in a Lucifer for varying reasons but it is a translation in the Old Testament and only once and it was a comparison of a King to the brightness of the planet Venus. Lucifer is the Latin name for Venus and used when the Vulgate was created. They were just saying that he had fallen out of favor because of his actions. It isn't a person except in Roman mythology and was the consort and lightbearer of Diana, so some of these stories about Archs are just that. I am not so sure that any of them were above reproach and in some ancient circles a certain deity was considered a god of war so I would suspect he would have armies.
I am not so sure they had no remorse, this is assumed. They were following orders just like anyone in a military type of situation. They seemed to have factions and fought. Many fought and "fell" in battle. Some had varying jobs depending on the circumstances. I believe they are all physical beings and it was at various meetings that it was decided by a few to make them be non- corporeal so as to elevate their stature.
Those that lost the battle, left and it was a lot, 2/3rds of the army. So obviously they do have feelings whether they left willingly or not.
I thought Metatron was a Seraphim which is a higher class of angel than Arch.
Metatron is also known as Enoch...who during the time of the angelic habitation within the earth and the taking of human wives, Enoch was chosen to mediate between G-d and the angelic colony....and was later elevated to the status of an angel according to legend and renamed Metatron.
The Arch Angels of the Presence represent a characteristic or persona of the Ein Sof...the entity that has no description, no beginning, no end...the Creator of all that is, all that was, and all that is to be....good and evil are of no consequence...and although considered by the majority as reciprocals of the other, there are a lot of gray areas and all aspects must coexist to create the shifting waves that create harmony through the chaos of all existence....our musical universe.
Sariel is an angel of the Presence...meaning literally the Command of G-d...also the known as an Angel of Death and also listed among the 20 known leaders of the host that departed from Heaven to live among the mortal women and brought forth the Nephilim...who were here before and after the Great Flood of Genesis...and later referred to as Rephaim.
Considering the different points in the literature available...Sariel is not listed with those chained in Heaven by Metatron...as being an archangel of the actual Presence...an Angel of Death...one who is legend to have brought the last plague upon Egypt's firstborn sons....what then is good and evil? And where do we discern the dividing line? Is there actually a dividing line at all?...and if not...what then are the angels or the demons...funny...angel is derived from the Greek word..Daemon...but our brethren?
A mistake there....the archangel Michael (Mikhael) was charged with the task of punishment for the fathers of the Nephilim and the one Azazel who was buried beneath a mountain.
So, does that mean that Metatron was once human or just another abstract lower than an angel?
According to the new-agers, two people from the bible later became Archangels. Since according to tradition, all Archangels have "el" at their end of their name, you can easily find at who they are.
Archangels were an early form of what we now know as archetypes. As for all the rest, and the stories, it's anyones guess.
Interesting. I was under the impression that all angels were abstracts and not being which ascended from humans.
There's tons of stuff out there to study...and as Billy so well pointed out...the ones ascended from human to angel status do not have "el" as the suffix of their name...as all angels are respective of a characteristic of G-d. There's oodles of things on the angels and it certainly makes an interesting study....:)
I really have to study up on this. What if you were named after an angel and you ascend? I'm sure that could get confusing. LOL!
Arch Angels fight in the name of Heaven and can also be protectors. They may be someones Guardian Angel or help them along their set path/destiny.
Like many who have already posted, there is tons to research on Arch Angels. With the internet a vast amount of information can be found.
The issue with that is, much of it may be nothing but garbage.
I wouldn't ever want to cross the path of someone who would like to harm me!
Angel or Arch angel, I don't believe they would harm anyone without a reason for it as any creature would.
We protect, defend, we protect our territories, but unless we are 100% human do you see any other creature that harm without reason? Other than those and feeding????
Because I don't!
I know little of anything about the different ranks and powers of Angels, but, with a little research.

Don't believe in heaven and hell it' a cristen/cathloic religon but no I wouldn't mind facing a creature like an arch angel. Its no different than facing a demon I'd think
Religion is a human thing. If God and angels really do exist, I doubt they could care less.
I do Not believe in angels...None of the X-tian beliefs...
"I am God and so the Antichrist"
I am my own God/Demon...as it should be and so rightly take full responsibility for my own actions and my own destiny...
And no one will ever be able to make me think differently...
If they could then I'd be a follower not a leader...
a Lamb not a Predator of the weak...
I am not saying they (X-tians) are ALL like that but...most of them sure...
