Does anyone have any abilities they have that most people don't?

Like seeing things that have died, the future, things like that.

And just incase you're wondering I do check my posted threads regularly although I don't usually reply, unless I am asked a question.

I'm not entirely sure of mine. I don't think it's natural. I attribute mine solely to the trauma I received about the head so many times as a child. The phrase "I see dead things/people" is so overplayed though, I think. I certainly see something. Shades, shadows, things out to get me in my dreams that follow me out when I wake (dubbed night terrors by doctors), and then sometimes an actual person. Very rarely can I have a conversation with said "person" and even more rare is the occasion that I can get something useful out of that "conversation." Again, I say I see them because of trauma to my body and brain. It's my friends and family that say I see dead people. You can take what you want from it. I'm just trying to get forum posts for my level and this looked like a good thread for it. :)

I have that "feeling" sometimes. I can be sitting somewhere and just know everything that is going on has happened before. I may not realize it then, but I will a day or so later.

It's just odd feelings. Like I can wake up and know I dreamed about talking to someone or seeing someone and I know that person isn't alive anymore. I often times think I see my brother and he's been gone since 1997.

I wonder what causes things like this to happen? A portal maybe?

I have no idea if this would count at all or not, but when I was 8 I had dreams of my orthodonitc surgery that I had at 16 to widen the upper part of my mouth and to wire my mouth shut for 6 weeks. It was odd to see everything that went on, but I am not entirely sure what it would fall under.

same with the other guys who have replied to this forum i 2 have a strange ''seeing''

when i was about 5 i dreamed that me and my sis was in a car crash about 2 months later when we were driving we were nearly hut by a tractor coming round the corner.

now that im older - i dont know if its the same thing - but i have daydreams of something that will or same in a way but it will sort of happen

Maybe I should clarify on mine a bit because I'm seeing a pattern in yalls and don't feel like being lumped in... No offense. I don't see "premonitions" or de ja vue bits or strange and mystical things. I truly believe that mine are probably trauma induced and that I'm most likely delusional (reasons why I'm taking medication since I see these on a regular basis and not just here and there). It's my family that says otherwise. Just... wanted to point that out...

Clairvoyance is a big one, Empathy comes second. Other than that, just the regular higher frequency abilities. A vampire is as a vampyre does.

I read this tread looking for something...any ability that might set someone apart. So far,I havent seen one.Most of these listed are abilities that most humans have,empathy,sporadic clairavoyance and others.Why cant we just see that these things are part of what we are as humans?

Abilities are very human in origin, all people have them... all the stereotypical abilities anyway. But some people are still learning about the old abilities in the newest ways, we still have the caliber of teaching verses their learning the old trades.

Other than the popular ones that have been pointed out already, there are a few unspoken attributes that come with the territory, that I really never remember until I cross their paths through natural instinct, know what I mean? I just can't have a 10 minute sit down and describe the lot of them for the audience, things like that just happen naturally. They come and go as they please.

Slowing time, as with any normal society... watching the people walk by really fast while you just sit there as if there is no tomorrow. Your watch still says 5 on the dot while they are scruying around at random trying to fast pace through their day, then suddenly the track of time and reality is lost... the sun goes down and you are still sitting at that same spot, not realizing what the relative hour is.

Being thrown a curve ball when someones camera doesn't work around you, it will cause no picture to appear or a simple cloud around you, the batteries go dead or it just won't flash.

Certain types of kenetic abilities that aren't realized until the aftermath and can sometimes be mimicked if the person concentrates hard enough.

Natural hypnosis, gathering a crowd toward you while you are near them... the eyes have it usually. It happens easier if you are a kind hearted individual, otherwise people just don't want to be around you.

Stuff like that, you know?

I have been trying to find a way to explain how I was able to speek a language that I have never heard befor. and the strange thing is that I can tell a strange dog to shut up in that language and only that one and the dog will shut up. also back in 1979 I dreamed of my grand maw dieing then in 1980 she died. then I dreamed of my uncle dieing and what uncle was going to be burried in. didn't think any thing about it but i had start keeping a dream book then almost a year later my uncle died and every thing was as i dreamed. the strange thing it when you die in presion they send you to the morge in a body bag and no clothes. well my uncle's clothes and stuff was picked out by the furnial home but every thing was as i dreamed.

idk if this counts but if i meet someone and i start caring for them i can see what there doing alot of time from my mind its like there lives are playing in my head . and i can tell if they are introuble.

That sounds like empathy.So for me,no it isnt an unusual ability.

I've been told that I'm a shaman and live between the veils. I'm extremely powerful "metaphysically", but there's obviously no tangible proof. Perhaps I'm just insane.
I hear voices. Sometimes they're in the form of a conversation about me. It's unclear whether they're malevolent/benevolent, or merely in my imagination/diagnosis.
I've balanced my version of the Kabbalah, but that doesn't mean everyone has the same perception of it, or that it's theirs'. Also, I may have desecrated Gods/Demons alike whose only purpose seem to be obtaining belief (a very powerful thing indeed). They're different than humans in that they spew souls/essences after being destroyed as if the souls are trapped there. A human for example has a simple essence which can be extracted and is black if it's malevolent.
I've stopped living life from battle to battle for a chance at happiness instead.
I feed off the atmosphere of the night, and the direct sun is overwhelming. My fiancee donates. I guess it could be psychosomatic, because remember, belief is a powerful thing.

I doubt there are any true abilities...however, there are those who experience a strange darkness, commune with the hidden.
Chances are they are dellusional and are suffering a mental break due to PTSD or depression.
The really interesting thing is that that the researchers and authorities suspect this is not always the case?

I have "no comment" :) but I am watching to see what transpires.

I guess something I might really consider an ability ,would be being able to make use of our inherent knowledge to influence our lives and enviroment around us.

If you believe so strongly in an ability that someone else claims that you make it real, is that not in itself an ability? or just coincidence because you wanted to believe?

Here is a great example of influencing people through the power of suggestion, hypnotists love to use method. About twenty years ago I realsied the whole world, including the economy worked on B.Sh*t.

Here is the naughty bit, I told them the housing market was going to collapse 30 % because my friend at Prater roofing had inside information on the bank lending and the property market and that share prices were overdone...
Two weeks later I was at another LCi club in london where I overheard the Barman telling the exact same rumour I had started. I booked my 1 yr world trip and landed in sanfrancisco, Lehman collapsed and the stock market fell 30%...you see Cancer is correct, thoughts are things. Good news, now the stock market is going to rise 30% and houses are going to double in value by 2017...Why? because I have already tweeted it to a bunch of mexicans who are now buying...watch this space :)

on the subject of abilities, in the beginning the only abilities a vampire had was compulsion and one other that differed for each individual. but as things progressed evolution reared it's head and groups called Covens came into the fold. as it went on, there were three main covens known as Drake, Septus, and Amora covens that held the most power. the coven Drake was mainly consisted of royals from the the revered Dracula line which held the most powerful abilities such as four sigh aka (future telling.)

And where, pray tell, are you getting your Vampire history, Alexander? Anything actually from history?

I looked up your supposed Covens and they of course come from roleplay. Vlad was never a vampire to begin with, he was a hero among his people, but was never a vampire.

Chummer, some people if they are naive enough may buy into your storytelling jargon, but the more intellectual individuals will always call it for what it really is, B.S.

This is an actual discussion about real abilities, not about roleplaying vampire suppositions. If you have anything of merit to bring to the table, it is welcomed... if not, please don't post nonesense.

Seriously, though... you're alright, Alexander. And welcome to VR forums. We do sometimes "play" rough here... but it's all done with good intent (usually... by most of us) and with the motivation being to understand Vampirism better.

Bizarre discussion, anyway, back to reality. Oceanne the Six degrees of separation is now used as "the term" used to describe how chat rooms, mobile phones, tweets, forums and modern media pass on news. In the olden days it took months and a hundred people to pass on information. Cyber space means most people are now only separated from anybody else on the planet by Six or less people...hence the 6 degrees, I wrote a poem in my old Journal, by 6 degrees I turn...
A great example of media influence is Murdochs empire, how he was able to manipilate the good and the great. I understand this has backfired of late, they are about to find out in 1987 his UK paper "the Sun' payed the ASU Sergeant Cole at Reigate for the inside information prior to the trial of Vicar David Tudor who was allegedly abusing school girls..(p.s. the typing pool girls witnessed this)oh well, they know now....Mwuahaha Haaaa...

I can usually tell when something bad is about to happen to friends or family. People that meet me in person usually don't talk to me because half the time I'm reading their mind and freaking them out because I'll say like 'You're thinking....' Its usually right which is creepy. I'm very sensitive to spirits too.

Being a hybrid, I have the ability to sense *hear, smell, feel* spirits and other entities, and I gain immense strength when I let my lycan side out.

My ability is to be a smartass, along with getting more dangerous an opponent in a fight as it gets longer. Ex. getting to the point of dismissing all pain from strikes as well as for lack of a better term getting a breath of fresh air meaning its refreshing the fight it renews the body.

*Ahem...* And now, back to our thread...

Abilities are always a human trait, it really doesn't matter who you are or what you "claim" to be. We are all only human and to some extent, a bit different. But until science does come up with ~Upir's~ supposition and proves beyond doubt that vampires live among us, then more than half of the community can add their own rhetoric as to what the vampire actually is in their own archtypical way of life.

Vampirism is a very broad term and as such, any vampiric ability could be seen as a human ability that lays dormant until it is actually used properly.

I am vampire, not because of my abilities... but because of my "need to feed", please remember this little statement in the future.

I have the uncanny ability to scare the shiz outa ppl just by standing somewhere.......Im a verry quiet walker so I walk into a room, stand there for 5 or so minutes and ppl freak sayin how the hell did I get there.......Its fun at times ^_^

I can sense when someone, young or old, is about to pass. Not an ability that I want, but I have it. And I can sense people's feelings, like if a woman walks into a room, and even if she is someone well known and has no problem communicating with others, in most cases that woman is just as scared and nervous as the shy woman in the corner that hopes nobody will look her way.

I can also spot someone that is full of shit from a mile away, but that's another story. LOL

I don't know how often or can people have an astral journe.After a few monts i met my husband,one night i dreamed about another world,and i told that to my husband and he sad that he have the same dreams.After a few years of astral journe i met moust of the creaturs there,my husband and i have a few houses there,and many other things.In the begining i tought i am mad,but i relise that it isnt't just a dream or a fiction because we have the same dream at the same time,and ewen i can feel when something is wrong there.

I don't know if this is an "ability" exactly...but I have had quite a few times where I believe my emotions have caused electrical disturbances.

Fighting with a friend and when they tried to leave their car battery was dead.

Once again fighting with another friend telling them something along the lines " You will fall"...and then a HUGE tree branch falls in the driveway. (It was during a huge storm)

My roomate got a brand new xbox and COD black ops when it came out. Nothing would read or work until I left the room.

Just strange things along those lines....

When treatened or angry, can automatically catch a nerve cluster that will bring anyone to their knees. I think this is from martial arts training though.

Are those considered abilites? I think they are normal.

I can show people my mind regardless of distance. I can also read their minds provided I know them to a degree. I can also show individuals mind's of others.

I can use my mana to form energy balls.
I can astral travel.
I can do a variety of other things.

Just sharing.

I can drink an ungodly amount of rum, no joke its a fact I think that constitutes an ability.

I drempt that my dad was going to die before he did and my mum drempt that her brother was going to die before he did :(

i dont know if you would count this as unusual but i do get visions of the future sometimes i even get them in my dreams. also if i practiced enough id be able to put people to sleep with my singing voice.

Yes i have "abilities" but none i can say sets me apart from others, even though that's up for debate through other's perceptions of me at times, and none i wish to add here for it is not a debating issue.

I agree that is not something to debate...it is based on you and your perception. no one elses opinion truely matters on this subject.

Hmm,in a way it is actually Shalina. Example..you go on America's got talent to sing a song because YOU percieve that you have a beautiful voice.Yet,for one,you're tone deaf as hell and cant even breathe properly to get you through a verse without gasping...In other words,you suck,and even the dogs howl when you sing.

No.Truth is,you really cant sing.

I wonder if others have noticed as I have that many people can do the very things we list here as a unique ability.My thoughts are,if this is happening,then they really arent unique abilities at all,but fairly common aspects of humans.

For self-delusion to work, it is rather incumbent upon the self-deluded to shun objective examination as such would surely reveal that delusion to all. Self-delusion doesn't really work, otherwise. Therefore, best to enjoy such delusions of grandeur in private than to declare them openly and have such revealed for what they truly are.
