if you were to start your own privite club...
for only people you knew... or on a invite only.... how would you do it.....
just a dream i have...... yes it would be a vamp type club....

what location are you thinking?

what do you mean exactly by how would you do it?

privite club....means invite only....bar type
setting...how would you start something like that....any ideas....

come up with a business plan
come up with funding
if you have the clientelle to reasonably support the venture ....

It would probably be invite only since you can get a lot of stupid people coming to things and ruining it. Otherwise people could ask to come and then maybe they would be added to the list. It wouldn't be really stuffy and uptight just making sure we don't get annoying people there. It also has to be fun since people of course wouldn't go otherwise

M'lady, ... mslefaye's suggested structure is crucial ... I would add that u started it up as a "regular, open to the public" club and test the market by initiating "private nights" ... then slowly transform it into a private club ... it is a slow process but am sure that the wait will be well worth it ... it has been a dream of mine to own and operate a late nite exclusive jazz club (with a goth theme of course) ... good luck with ur dream ...

Well first you would need to determine what do you mean by friends. and the scale of the club is it a friend only small club or is it diff. then you would need to pick a location if friends only it could be your house but if you are thinking of a sort of night club i would say buy an office space of some sort. then you would need to think of the type of people you want as customers the amount you'd have to pay for materials such as bar equipment etc. which would run you a few thousand i thank. then there is advertisement and such to bring in profitt from the money you spent. well cheers hope you come up with a resolution

yeah...well aware of the price of drinkables.....and as is it now...a band would be cheap for me to start with...because boyfriend is a drummer...
and some people would play more cheaper kinda cause of that......i have most of the glass ware already......it is really the up and running ideas (and of course money for drinkables...)and well

i agree that deciding the scale would be first. u could always start with just a few friends in the garage at night and charge flat admission or by the drink, whichever. save up enough to get a diff building. it depends a lot on how many people u know that would be interested in going. o, and decide what/how many nights a week u want to be open. i think if u have the glasses then the next problem would be the drinks themselves. talk to a liquor store (if thats what u want to serve) see if u can purchase by the case w/ a discount. for sodas go to a wholesale store (some also have liquor). u'd need chairs and tables, lighting, a stage for your b/f, etc too.

now theres a few thoughts to think about......problem....no garage....nice back yard....hummm.... thinking of a new building here....keep up the ideas folks....

If it was me I would start from the ground up. Yes be sure to have an idea of how it is gonna be. Sounds like you have that already. But first figure out the structure and take it step by step.

yes a step by step aproach would be good and you may want to study the club business model like ask a club owner how he or she started thier operation btw act like ur courious and not going to be a competitor. they fall for it all the time best thing is "i'm a student and i am required to interview a business owner*

unlikely.....as I am generally against elitism.....and thats what private clubs tend to end up catering to.

Maybe run credit checks on those applicants that are interested in being a member of your private club. That way if you decide to have annual dues you will know who is more likely to pay such dues and you could weed out the less desirables. lol It would also help you ensure you were not serving liquor to minors too. Just a thought.

If I was a member of a private club I would like to see gorgeous men serving my drinks and a decent live music and comedy acts weekly for starters.

Male dancers/strippers...ooops sorry did I say that out loud. I apologize. Really a few parties for holidays would be cool. Halloween--masquerade party, christmas party...etc, theme parties and such. Know what I mean. Hey why not even a party where everyone dresses like their favorite character from Rocky Horror picture show. That would be a riot!

yeah it would...and looking for maybe a day to day thing...from the hours of
midnite to 9 am thing..and all day sunday..

oooooh well i would call it "Silent Quarters of Wisdom" and it would only be by invite and even if so you would be on probation to wheather or not you can join, in the club there would be places to party if need be and places to meditate and think and quietly socialize..... ^_^ im grade A nerd member that lol

Me i see a dark bar, with black light and blue lights to give off a mysterious atmosphere. Music would be on the darker side, not completly goth music. for the invites, classic parchment paper with the wrighting done in blood red, sealed in wax. keep it mysterious. as far a building wise, an older church style like building, something out of the ordinary decorated in black, red and blue crushed velvet, glass or black metal tables. no booths, overrated, the smell would have to be a combo of musk and vanilla, to help cover the smell of the alcohol.

So I hope that helps you out some, that is my vision, do what you like with it.

Im lucky I suppose... with an over-zealous 'pub culture' among students in the United Kingdom, I just pop into my local Wetherspoons and everyopne is already there waiting for the rest to show up :-)

ummmmmmmmm,privite clubs..don't care for them to many rules..

Outgoing has a point... the thing with a pub like I was tlaking about, is that you can just go there and be there, without all the rules.

Oddly enough, this topic came up during dinner Friday night with ravensblood…

We were talking about that it would be nice to open a club. Then it dawned on us that us both being the only 2 gothic people in this town, that the business wouldn’t do well unless it catered to the majority of the people in this town, which would drive us insane having to do.

Finding the people to come to such a club would be a task unless you lived in a place where there were the people that would be interested in that type of thing. It would be taking a big risk investing in something so limited, invite only, only for certain types of people. It could cause a little stir with people who otherwise wouldn’t be interested, but the fact that it was restricted would give them something to bitch about.

I’m kind of swaying here, so I’ll just finish this off by saying if you have the ambition, the money and the other necessary resources, and your gut instincts say yes, go for it and make it work. Things will only work if you MAKE them, even when the odds seem against it.

privite club...in my book of thought is
that the people comong to my place if and when that happens.....when there.....
theres not many rules.....the simple ones... no fighting.... no breaking of the glass ware...lol...you know the simple ones.....mainly...have fun....

nice in theroy dear but when you mix humans with drinking, things happen not to say it would but there is allways that chance,i think it would be great, but no matter how things start so simple it tends to grow fast and loose control

The name of the club would be X Marks the Spot! I would get a major company to sponser the funding for some meetings with a community. Then The club itself would have about 3 levels with differant music on each, red water would be spraying on one of the levels for sure!

Well clubs; restuarants; anything of the public entertainment would require damn permits and tax forms Etc. A private club where you do not have to worry about paying your employees, paying the state liquor permit, state ordinenece,.... If you were the owner of your own home. NO problem all of this can be avoided unless you have excessively nosy neighbors.

If you were to make a real establishment as everyone else to say start from the ground up. Become an entreperneur, sketch your ideas, use a program on a computer and map out your thoughts.

first vip list top friends,then jsut friends,then aquanances, then randome poeple who u thinnk are ok but never ever let anyoen that has been mean to u in but a big black guy at the frount named big ben and tell him to pumble the shit out of those mother fuckers..thats how i would run a club on the invite list
