well boys and girls.... if you havent noticed we are getting a baaaaad lag on the site lately....

i have offered my 5meg broadband connection to cancer....... anyone with a good connection ...(100k or better)..might want to contact him
so we can all bathe in the ecstasy of a fast loading site..... or you can give him lots of money to upgrade the servers he uses

How does that work exactly? If you have a fast connection, how do you help?...

yes, I have noticed a lag as you call it. The more people on here at one time seems to make it slow down and bump me off. It has been brought to his attention. We thought it was our browser so I tried my pc at work and it is the same thing there. I hope we don't crash his servers.

There's no lack of bandwidth. VR sits on a 100 mbit connection.

Vampire Rave is a PHP site. Webpages you view are created on the fly, specifically written for you, based on details in your user account.

This action consumes CPU resources. 2 things need to be done. First I need to further optomize PHP code on many of the VR pages so that individually they consume less CPU resource. Second (and this will only happen after step one is completed to my satisfaction... To do it any sooner would be a waste), a newer, faster server with a better CPU (or CPU's) is required.

say half the people on the site i would think would more than pay for some massive bandwidth

well its all about the amount of people on the site... (getting too popular?..roflmao)....all you need to help usually is a computer and a fast connection...... but our "god of thunder" needs to tell us what we can do to help him before any changes can really take place...

with this contest a cray super computer might be affordable at say 15,000 USD..

Since we are all acessing a database basically and many people are pulling on the info it will be slow also I say there should be more premuim members due to my paranioa of using online transaction thats why i am not a premuim member but I say look at the memeber ship as a form of donation if you will but you get something good out of it

I just thought is there anyone cleaning up after the posts and stuff like that and i think we could also help by not keeping so much messages in our message box. we could save them on our own computer rather then on the server. sorry for posting twice but it just dawned on me and i just don't want to see something as great as this place go down.

Well since we cannot do much to speed up the code optimization since that is cancers baby we can make sure he can get the latest greatest fastest machine with a few gig of ram for when he gets the code done to his satisfaction...

cancer u r doing a great job maintaining this site, i know lags are to be expected.

im still on dial up connection (probably the only one lol), cause broadband aint available in my area yeat, i dunno why.

sometimes it a pain when the pages dont load, but its just to be expected so i dont mind anymore.

well by looking at vampirefreaks.com I'd say vampire rave is a bit more personall and cancer being the darling that he is has given us a bad ass search engine for the site. the realtime search does drain resource to better VR we will have to give up luxuries such as that and new users may not be seen right away it may take a bit longer. but over all the site isn't that slow. well i have a cable connection so yeah

there may be a lot of pages and information on this site, which is a good thing, but i imagine that those that joined up here are not only here to look at pages but to mingle as well. So ideally...isn't it a good thing to give the best to the people that DO make profiles and friends the best service possible?

$3.50 a month is less than what I spend in coffee with a tip for one trip.
So every month as long as I have the lousy $3.50 I am sending it.
When I get the larger amount will send that too.....
I know how much of a pain in the ass running a site is and is the least I can do and think if you spend more than 10 minutes a day the least anyone else can do also....
