how many of you know anything about the ancient spells.... and how many of you know the true # of sides a witch's star is supposed to be
As far as I know the wiccan symbol is a 5 pointed star and with a point that is upright. However in medievel times it was a christian symbol.
As for satanism it is the same 5 pointed star but with two points down right.
the true witch's star is a six pointed star.... because their are two elements missing
6? 0_0 like the one of judaism?
Well in one of my books I've found the 6 pointed star.It represents the elemnts.
Then there is the heptagram which is a 7 pointed star which radiates vitality and life.
The one I told you before it's called the pentagram and I've always found it like that...
I have used the septagram before but it was usually used to represent something dark and malicious.... the "pentagram" doesn't respond when i use it... i have found that the ancient sectagram (6 points) works better.
The pentagram:Represents the elements. The points represent the elements and the upmost is Spirit.it is said that it's the key to magic power and protection. When surrounded by a cirlcle it's called a Pentacle.
The Hexagram:a 6 pointed star of great potency. The triangle pointing up is Fire and the one pointing down is Water. When they over-lap Air and Earth are created. This symbol is used in spells to conjure the power of the elements.
Well according to my the septagram represents 7 planets.
Hehe well I donno I haven't practiced anything for ages, maybe it's different for everyone,do you practice something in particular?
Still am doing research for this cause it brought me a lot of curiosity.
Yes i do practice... my element is of the dark... i use spells of a malicious nature to ward off the councils, i also use "good" spells to protect those in the Blackmoon... and so far all my spells have held up...
... well even the council doesn't know how to break my spells... they are created within a deep chasim in my mind which constantly supplies them with power... and like the one thread said... I am a true vampire as well as a true born witch
Hmmm.. ok and your question was also on ancient spells, well it's difficult to find them these days, since withcraft became a commercial thing, what a pity!
The circle around the pentagram is used mainly for protection. The pentagram summarizes the elements with earth, wind, water, fire, and spirit, and none other is needed unless it is used for specialty spells.
I, too am a darker witch, but that is what I was born into. I am trying to use healing spells, and learning Reiki, but the dark side is sooo much funner. ;)
I have to comment on the Dark side tough. Not necessarly Dark side means evil.I used to practice Nocturnal Witchcraft and is definied as Dark but it has nothing to do with evil.
you just need to look into your own past for the spells you used to use... that is the answer that everyone keeps overlooking.... my spells are the ones i used to use.... becuase when i turned 12 I learned ow to dive into the past within my own mind to unlock my old spells... therefore whenever i need to give them a little extra power i just use an abyss to suck in all of the power around me and from my own sources to keep them intact against spells that are even more ancient than mine...
For me, I rarely use Pentagrams of any shape. True, when I was younger I would sew one tiny one into the lining of my coat for protection, but that was it.
Deeply, I don't believe in good/evil. There are shades of greys as nature intended. Malicious or Benign. White or Dark. It is your spirit that directs the intended use of the energies. If you use it to protect, so be it. Use it to harm someone (use at your own risk.)
Just my two cents
The is no true way,,, U dont need to follow by the book,, Each person has their own unique style,, I dont always follow the books,, I was taught by My Master,,, but along developed my own style
It is true, I'm sure there are many definitions for "dark" magick. In my practices, I meant dark, as in vodoun (voodoo), and hexes. Dark as in evil. Dark as in vengeance.
Pentacles are the five pointed star with the circle around them
Pentagrams are the five pointed star minus the circle.
Just thought I'd throw in a little lesson.
Well I didn't follow exactly books I just searched for the info.
i get my spells from my family, well whats left, witchcraft is in mah family, there arnt many good spells or spell books around anymore, because it is getting more popular, and people just make up spells, with no meaning, and now, well i think, its not real what thay are doing... so you have to look deeper... also tha witches star (pentacle) has five points, all representing a element, earth air fire and water... thats why you use pentacles in spells... with tha elements...
paramour trivia: the 10-pointed star was the very first tattoo i ever did after my apprentiseship! it's a small small world, isn't it? >8)
ok since this is doing better than any other of my threads... it has been through my expierience that hex's are not dark... it is just the way they are used... see you can use black magic to help someone... lets say... a car has rolled on top a persons leg... if you can use a curse to destroy the car without harming the person that was trapped... is that an act of using evil magic... see I may prefer black magic... since i was born to use it... but it is the intention behind it's uses that get comfused with its true nature... see i use any number of combinations of pentacles, pentagrams, and other symbols of my own making that make me so different from anyother witch... and that is one reason i am hunted by the council
My friends uses symbols of his own making too.
And yes black magic can't be always malicious. For example a revange spell can be used to make the person learn their lesson or a protection spell which whoever does the hex on a person gets it back.
And then there still people who think that those who practice withcraft fly on brooms 0_0 unbelievable!!!
if you want spells or something like that go to joyofsatan.com
ive never used a documented spell before, i always personalize them and peice together what i want, i think it works better for the purpose since magick flows different for every person the same spell can always work as well for every one. if you add your own spin ive found it works much better. but i am no expert, i just am what i am.
i think you have to study alot of witchcraft, before you start practicing... you have to know your stuff, otherwise.. even if you are trying to do good things, it can come back to you in a bad way... it can be quite harmful when you dont know what you are doing...
I've always felt that spells written down and reused over and over were for comfort and lack of creativity. I used to ponder and study spell books of all kinds but never felt inspired. Only later when I set out and used my energy alone to change things did I realize what magick really is. Try that sometime.
it depends... pentacles and pentagrams have 5.. it depends what kind of majick..
I do belive it has 5 points
top point is spirit
east point is air
west point is earth
south west is water
south east is fire
but there are different ways to put it for different spells and different practices
ManSlayer... why do you use spells for malicious purposes?
All im syaing is, if you believe in the principles of magic, then do you not also believe in the concept of what you do will come back to you in these circumstances?
as to the number of points and such on a star.....
the use tends to control that more than what you are told by others....
what works for one may not for another.....
well echo... seeing as I am both a vampire and a pure blood witch I don't abide by the "wiccan" laws... and the reason I use malicious spells is because they are my specialty, but even if they weren't I would still use them because of the amount of people that misunderstand me, which leads to them confronting me eventually, which ends them with a broken or severed limb
In my opinion it does not matter if you follow the "laws" do what you beleive be it white or black magick..like Crowley said"Do as ye will"
I just happen to have many original books of spells that were handed down in my familymost are about 120 -130 years old, where as most witches dont normally share the contents of these tomes to anyone outside the Family I feel that there are not enough tru spells available today so I will be posting a "select" few in my journal..nothing too complicated I might add just a few harmless spells....As for any Council that does not see eye to eye with my unorthidox practices I DARE them to challenge me, myself being young still, I strive to learn all that I can on all paths of magick,,Santeria being my most recent subject,,I have had great success so far.......
I have seen two star both pointing up right but one that has 6 points and one that has 5 points the 5 points represent the elements if i remeber right
apparently im not that much into witchcraft lol its interesting though
Interestinf ManSlayer, but souldn't you always heal the leg with 'good' agic, instead of destroying the car (and the person iside!) or to simply put a protection spell on those that you may feel need it. Just trying to be positive and preventitive here.
Interesting post, LadyLillian.
There is not right or wrong on the star. Each representing something unique and special to the one who wears or uses it.
I prefer to create my own spells...or putting it together as I go along. I use magic (both "white" and "black"), healing spells, necromancy and the "darker" arts. I believe that if anything comes back to me, so be it, as I am the one who chooses what spells I want to do and how I do them.
There is a huge amount of info out there for magick....just google the terms you need. :D
...dark and evil, hexes and vexes, good and light, voodoo, witchcraft, yada yada...they are all defined differently by different people's points of view. I, myself do not see Satanism as evil, but a very religious way of life. Witches aren't all Wiccan either. It is so frustrating to explain and understand sometimes.
Grr.
hehe as a positive minded pagan living with a satanist....I agree with the above post...they are much up to individual interpretation....the good or evil is always in the intent of the user....a spell is only malicious if the intent it is put to is malicious....
It's interesting that you brought this up for I have no clue as to how the ancient religions that have inspired modern-day Wicca operated. Of course, I'm sure that most of it is because they were secretive in nature.
However, in my experience with the forces that work in such matters, I don't really believe that the power is within the symbols used, but the power they invoke in the individual. But, as to which elements are missing in the pentagram? I've always been under the assumption that there were four elements plus "Spirit" which is, as I imagined it, a yin-yang like "entity" in which the element of Light and Dark are represented. Please enlighten me.
del - i agree with you on that fact that magick is in the eyes of the user...shure in ones eyes helping someone with white is good, while anothers using black is also good. to each is own.
Magick and spells were not like it use to be today... back then (really far back) words were not used all that much, it was more of action, (ie: dancing, chanting words over & over, big fires, and waiting for the gods &/or goddess to show themselves and provide the answer/responds we are looking...much like today but the gods & goddess are leary of showing themselves in their true forms... they usually show themselves in forms of creatures, bugs, animals, ect... but now we hae to work harder just to get their attention by using long spells with many words that either rhyme or that dont....
more to come on this from me.
im kinda stupid but heres my 2 cents. the 5 lined star is supposed to represent the elements and the the fifth is physick energy that livers in us all. The End
i have no clue but witches are totally fuckin awesome for some reason im just as fascinated with them as I am with vamps...weird...
So many ways of life the light....darkness...right ...wrong ....and those in the middle trying to point the finger because they cant or dont want to take a side ....there is no right or wrong just power and weekness
good point... just one thing more... no matter how you use the craft it will always be taken the wrong way by christians... or even other "godly" people
This is by far the best thread i have ever had... plz keep it coming
well i have always been in wiccan i was born in it cause my mom does it and yes it is a six pointed star sorrry i am late on this but yea
I'm more into vampyres and the paranormal! But isnt a male "witch"
suposed to be called a "warlock"
well i am wiccanand i know some of the ancient spells but i have only done them a little
actually you aren't titled as a warlock until you fall to the path of the devil... whether you believe this or not is of your choice
sum say that warlock is merely a title for a person that gets beyond the power of a normal witch.
I agree with LadyLilian the most.. as far as the term warlock is going around... warlock is an oath-breaker and is considered not a good thing where I practice it.
yeah... I have been called some of the worst things imaginable... seeing as I am a necromancer, witch, and vampire you could probably think of some of them
there are thousands of symbols for the holy Goddess and God. But the main ones used is the 5 pointed star meaning the equality between men and women and them there is the 7 pointed star meaning the elements. OK.
Oh boy. The term "warlock" is actually an Old English term for "traitor".
I see that there are so many Wiccan and witchcraft concepts that are so soiled and manipulated by personal beliefs and society.
Not all witches are Wiccan. I can't really say that I am Wiccan, for Wiccans usually worship "gods and godesses". Wiccans are the only witches that believe in the "3" theory, although 3 is a very important number in witchcraft.
Sometimes witches don't even know they are. You don't need to "practice" to be a witch. Witchcraft came natural to me and I accepted it. One day I realized that it wasn't so cooincidental that when I'd "wish" for something to happen, it would come true to some extent, depending on the "wish". Sometimes so small I wouldn't see it right away. Using spells, and herbs, and pentagrams and such, just makes the spell stronger, but aren't necessary in witchcraft.
The worst spell I'd ever cast was a "suggestion" spell that I said with just words and wishing revenge on someone that caused me harm. The story is dangerous so I can't say the whole thing, but let's just say I got "natural" revenge without laying a single finger on this person. Just with the power of suggestion. The only thing that came back to me was ONE THIRD of the harm done to them.
[Don't play mind games with me, cuz I will win. *cough cough*]

The oldest magick talisman,
is three lines in a triangle with a simple circle connecting each point.
point up:(as looking at it)
Line one, right side:
female energy
Line two, left side:
male energy
Line three, bottom:
procreation
Circle, enclosure:
the known territory
well at least you know some of what i speak stormie.... maybe I could message you sometime and we could compare notes
Well, this is an interesting thread.
I have been a practitioner for many, many years. It is always wonderful hearing various points-of-view.
How about some pictures to illustrate your points?
