Okay...This is most likely stupid, but it popped in my head the other day. In myth and literature, Vampires are dead.
When humans die, the nails and hair still grow. Why in myth, movies and literature..when a vampire dies they don't change? I mean the nails and the hair thing..
Vampires are commonly referd to as Undead. Dead you get to rot away back into the earth. Living you get to walk, talk, Breathe, and Die. Vampires are stuck in the middle. IMO Vampires do the turn to ash trick because they are finally Dead and the body had to catch up in a hurry with the decay process.
i have to disagree with you. when people die their hair and nails do not keep growing. the skin on their finger tips starts to shrink from lack of water in the body and the nails seem to grow.
hair does not grow after someone is dead. i know this because i am a barber by trade.
