I've been rather curious this. I am hoping maybe some of you might be willing to discuss this with me and share your opinions or experiences.
This discussion is for speaking a bit about the differences between the kinds of vampires in existence.
A few of my questions are as follows.
1) What makes a person a vampire? IE..Your description of what it means or takes to be one. Or otherwise.
2) What are the advantages/disadvantages of being sanguine, psy, etc. ?
3) How many kinds are there that are known?
4) Have you had any personal experiences? Either with being one, knowing one, etc.
Looks like no one has taken up this question yet. I will answer some of these questions first and then give you a source.
There are various opinions in regard to types of vampires. Most break it down in general to two: Sanguinary and Psychic (psi/psy). But there are lists far more comprehensive than that. If you see Living Vampire that is a Stregoi Vii title and not mainstream community. Some say HLV (human living vampire). I consider all of this just an attempt to make definitions and some don't agree with them all. The consensus in the actual community is one is born a vampiric and can never be made. That is only in fictional stories and most who profess it will be called a poser unfortunately. I just take it all with a grain of salt personally. Technically they use labels and not really types of vampires. The first two I mentioned are merely feeding styles but some use both and so they are most often called Hybrids. It can vary by country as well so I just call them buzz words personally.
I belong to the VVC (Voices of the Vampire Community) which has members from all over the world invited into it and voted upon to get in. Sometimes it is from the experience they have and others because of their activity. People in the group are from all over the world but the host of it, Merticus, is American. There is no one philosophy there. I will give an excerpt from the FAQ of our organization. This is the most commonly accepted world wide but there are others online with different opinions, some viable and some just rogue people who have amassed friends and give false information based on opinion only and some of it laughable.
There is no single definition accepted by all members of our community.

Q: What causes vampirism?
A: We have yet to establish conclusive proof of any one cause. The topic is widely debated in the vampire community. We can say that attributing vampirism to organic causes such as a "vampire virus" or damaged or missing mitochondria is based on fiction rather than fact. (My addition: This is as far as they know. The virus that comes up on some sites online is a hoax)
Q: Can someone be turned into a vampire?
A: The majority of the vampire community believe it is impossible for anyone to be turned (embraced, brought across, or other similar terminology). Many believe we are born vampires and gradually become aware of our natures during a process commonly referred to as "Awakening." (MY addition: Some never have awakenings. They are aware from very young and don't have a specific name for. For some having a name is the awakening but for others it doesn't mean that)
Q: Do all vampires drink blood?
A: Some do, while others feed by absorbing energy psychically or through a combination of drinking blood and psychic feeding. (My addition: I am one that doesn't believe it is absorbed psychically because I don't think that description fits but others do. Blood drinking is a minority activity in the community)
Q: What is the "energy” vampires use to feed?
A: "Energy" is a relative term. For the purposes of this FAQ, "energy" refers to an insubstantial but semi-objectively perceivable force, which many cultures with energy theories regard as a naturally-occurring phenomenon connected to living things, the natural world, magickal ritual, and sometimes even electricity or kinetic energy. Common synonyms for the type(s) of energy used include Psi, Prana, Chi, Orgone, or life-force.
FAQ is located here: http://www.veritasvosliberabit.com/vampirismfaq.html
Also if you look at the Temple of the Vampire their views will be entirely different and they are viewed more as a cult within the community along with Aset Ka. They are outside the main group that calls themselves a "community". It's all relative though. Spirtual/religious beliefs have nothing to do with vampirism to most and are a separate thing and vampirics are even Christian in some cases. They can be Pagans of varying types, Christian, Wiccan, Satanists, atheists and as many different things as anyone else. (Wanted to stress that...some do believe in vampire gods but are a minority)
First of all, I wanted to thank you, AsphaltTears, for taking the time to answer my questions. I wasn't sure of the right terms to use or anything like that, and it cleared up my confusion a bit of what to look for when searching for further answers. It also gave me a much better idea of terms also. I am sorry , though. I wasn't really sure what all some of the things I was trying to ask about were supposed to really be called. Thank you again, though.
"Some will say that there are two main different methods of feeding on life-force energy; sanguine and psi; and that all other forms of feeding are subcategories or specializations of psi feeding. Others will say that each feeding method is a different form of feeding, hence different "types" of vampires.
Sanguine vampires (or sanguinarians) are vampires who feed by drinking blood. However, it is not the blood itself that they are feeding on. It is the life-force energy contained within the blood. Blood drinking is arguably the most potent form of feeding on life-force energy, and many sanguinarians can thrive for many weeks from a single feeding. (A single feeding is often about an ounce or two of blood taken from a willing donor.) Sanguinarians often describe blood drinking as a very fulfilling, very powerful and somewhat intoxicating experience. It also tends to be a rather intimate form of feeding.
Psi (or psy) vampires are vampires that feed psychically on life force energies. Psi feeding (in any form) can be done from an individual (most often a willing donor) or from the ambient energies of a group or crowd. However, psi feeding can also be done from a person without the person realizing that they are being fed from, although many may consider it to be unethical to do so. Generally though, the person being fed from is not harmed by the feeding in any way. It should be noted that there is no difference between a psi vampire and a psy vampire, other than the spelling. As for the difference in spellings, the only conclusion I have been able to reach is that psi is an abbreviation of psionic, while psy is an abbreviation of psychic. However both terms, psionic and psychic, refer to psychic phenomena. Psi vampires used to be referred to as psychic vampires, but the field of behavioral psychology has co-opted the term psychic vampire to describe a person who has a psychological need for attention and will do whatever they can to get that attention from anyone and everyone, leaving those that interact with them feeling drained. Psi vampires avoid using the term psychic vampire to differentiate themselves from the behavioral psychology psychic vampires. Some will also refer to psi vampires as pranic vampires, derived from the term prana, a Sanskrit term literally translated as life-force energy.
Empathic vampires are vampires who feed on emotional life-force energies from the emotions of people. There are those that will say that vampires that feed on negative emotional energies (anger, fear, etc.) are negative/chaotic vampires and are a subcategory/specialization of empathic vampires. Others will say that negative/chaos vampires are separate from empathic vampires. The reason is that empathic vampires will usually feed on whatever emotions a person is feeling without necessarily causing those emotions. However, often negative/chaos vampires will cause situations where negative emotions and chaotic energies will be stimulated and then feed off of those energies.
Sexual vampires are vampires who feed on the life-force energies generated from having sex, especially the excess energies generated at the moment of orgasm. They can do so psychically and/or from bodily fluids. Female sexual vampires are sometimes referred to as succubi (singularly, succubus), and male sexual vampires are sometime referred to as incubi (singularly, incubus). Some will also refer to sexual vampires as tantric vampires. Others will refer to sexual vampires as pranic vampires. There is sometimes debate within the vampire community if referring to sexual vampires as pranic vampires is correct or not as there are some within the vampire community that refer to psi vampires as pranic vampires, which could lead to some confusion when talking about pranic vampires. Those that support referring to sexual vampires as pranic vampires argue that pranic energies and prana are two different things, and that pranic energies are energies related to sex while prana is just life-force energies. There are those that think the use of the labels tantric and pranic in reference to sexual vampires is an attempt by some within the vampire community at political correctness who feel that the term sexual vampire is derogatory and/or offensive or simply think that tantric and pranic "sound" better than sexual. However, it is also possible that those who use tantric or pranic when talking about sexual vampires are doing so to differentiate them from any link to behavioral psychology which seems to also be co-opting the term sexual vampire to describe a person who has a psychological need for attention (much like a psychic vampire) through sex.
Soul vampires are vampires that are able to feed directly off the energy of a person's soul. As a result of soul feeding, soul vampires will sometimes gain some or all of the abilities of the person they are feeding from. Soul vampires will also sometimes receive memories, thoughts and desires of the person that they are feeding from. Soul feeding is a very intimate form of feeding, even more so than sexual and sanguine feeding. Soul vampires are also sometimes referred to as soul devourers.
Elemental vampires are vampires that are able to feed on the life force energies of the elements; earth, wind, fire, and water. Some will say that elemental vampires are elementalists who are able to manipulate elemental energies and then convert those energies into consumable life-force energies. Others will say that elemental vampires feed directly from elemental life-force energies. There are also those that will say that vampires who feed on life-force energies from plants and animals are also elemental vampires. However, there are those that distinguish such vampires as nature vampires. Another method of feeding often considered a subcategory or specialization of elemental feeding is electrical feeding; the indirect feeding on energies in electrical fields and lightning. Others will distinguish such vampires as electrical vampires.
Astral vampires are vampires that are able to travel through the astral plane and feed off of the life-force energies of other entities within the astral plane, and/or they are able to materialize in astral form and feed off the life-force energies of people that are usually asleep.
Dreamscape vampires are essentially astral vampires that are able to enter into a person's dream, and feed from the life-force energies within the dream. They can be invisible observers in the dream, or they can manifest themselves within the dream. Some are able to influence the course of the dream.
Magickal vampires are vampires that are able to feed on and manipulate magickal energies.
Vampires who only use one method of feeding are referred to by the way that they feed (i.e., sanguinarian, elemental vampire, sexual vampire, etc.). Vampires who are able to feed using some but not all psychic methods but are not able to feed sanguine are referred to as adaptive psi vampires. Vampires who are able to feed using all psychic methods but are not able to feed sanguine are referred to as eclectic psi vampires. Sanguine vampires that are also able to feed using some but not all psychic methods are referred to as adaptive vampires. Sanguine vampires who are also able to feed using all psychic methods are referred to as eclectic vampires."

Nonetheless, there is no one community correct and others wrong, it all depends on one's belief's and faith in the teachings of their community.
How do you know if you are a psychic vampire? A psychic vampire can drain a life from someone so little that it would not affect the person's health?
I was highly skeptical when I saw this thread. But I thank you for posting it as to the two good answers thus far. Being a psy vampire myself I know that I tend to drawn in energies to sustain my own energy. I do not think that anything actually causes it, in my honest opinion. I think almost like an illness or disease it is in your or it isn't. I do not think its genetic but just...a gift that you are either given or not.
I know there are quite a few kinds and I hope to see this thread grow to enlighten my knowledge more.
A German proverb says:
"Was ich nicht weiss
Macht mich nicht heiss."
Or, as is sometimes said in English:
"What the eyes don't see
The heart doesn't grieve for."
Alright... So I am not sure that this really is the right place to ask a question... I am new here.
Sexual/Tantric Vampires feed through sex, take from the excess energy generated at climax and even gained through consumption of sexual fluids.
So my Question is: Would Sexual/Tantric Vampirism apply to me if I feel extremely energized after sex and my partner is otherwise downright exhausted? I actually would prefer that someone Inbox me with their answers and questions in regards to my question, as I know that it is rather Vague.
AlexiaSil: since the Dawn of Humankind, women have reported what you experience. In ancient China, this fact of women often feeling energized through sex while men feel exhausted gave rise to the long-discredited view that ejaculation drew life energy from the man (ching) in the form of semen and injected it into the woman...thereby energizing her while weakening him. Thus, men were taught to avoid ejaculation (full orgasm) so as to retain semen, which they thought in their medical ignorance actually was the man's "life force."
Today we know this to be absolutely ridiculous, that semen is not the man's life force in liquid form and that he won't have his life shortened through frequent ejaculation. Today we know that a man has a physiologic limitation women don't have that requires he endure a "down time" before he can have another orgasm. This is what commonly causes a man to feel exhausted and sleepy after sex...whereas for alot of women, one orgasm is just the beginning!
in some cases it is genetic or tracable with some sort of a pattern. In the case of my blood line it's every other generation of females that can get it but not all vampires can do that or figure that out
I didn't mean to sound off - putting. I was just trying to get a better idea of what exists within the vampire community and have some of the terms that are used be explained. I'm new to all this, so I thought it might be helpful if I asked, so maybe myself and anyone less familiar with any of this could ask questions to better understand.
PS: Thank you for those who take part in this thread and took the time to answer or reply. I appreciate it.
I have one more question, though.
Is it that the feeding on energy of some sort, is needed to maintain the person? (whether blood or otherwise?)
usually, yes, it is, you can live without of it although it's not usually fun or easy but if you look in the depression = lack of energy forum you'll find more opinions about it
in sort not feeding can cause irritability, depression, severe lack of energy, it can make a person emotional, typical type of stuff for not eating for the most part
Anyone who either feeds from, receives physical or spiritual energy from via a physical or spiritual means is in effect a vampire to some degree.
if a vampire is someone who consumes blood then anyone who's ever eaten a piece of meat that wasn't well done is technically a vampire
I can only respond to 1 and 4.
For me a vampire is the fictional one. Anyone that has a condition or a blood fetish, or energy feeders, allergic to garlic and sun and other things commonly associated with vampirism, are people with a condition to me. I don't see it as anything paranormal.
4.Yes I know. I know people who say they're something for shocking value too. However I know a few friends who really have an addiction or a blood fetish. I still call'em people and not vampires. Energy can be obtained by different ways, blood drinking n fetish I see it as normal too. These things are actually being slowly recognised by society, on the Italian channels this topic got discusded on two programmes n even some series mentioned it, like Nip and Tuc. So I still don't see why all this differences n all this paranormal phenomenon. All is 'normal' to me n I don't see anyone to be less or more than anyone either.
I am going to say this mainly to get it out there. A person automatically knows if they are one. there isn't any question in their mind. for one all your senses are much higher. And most vampires are empathic by nature. Plus you will always crave to feed even if u have just fed. The hunger is insatiable and always there driving you. and if you don't feed in some cases it can cause insanity if the depression gets bad enough. Also vampires can't drink their own blood it causes them mental issues.
"Today we know this to be absolutely ridiculous, that semen is not the man's life force in liquid form and that he won't have his life shortened through frequent ejaculation. Today we know that a man has a physiologic limitation women don't have that requires he endure a "down time" before he can have another orgasm. Funny thing about that Upir, is that women hate it! and then they call us lazy sods for napping instead of chatting or cuddling. Quite amusing really, heh they should try being a man for a week then they may quit bitching though I doubt it.
Out of all the forms of "human vampirism" I believe the blood drinking is one that likely gives sustenance as there is iron in blood, in fact a lot of countries has blood as actual food sources i.e blood sausage, blood soups and black pudding. So basically, anyone can be a vampire in terms of practicing vampirism i.e feeding primarily on blood but you won't be supernatural or anything special, merely a human with a different diet. Those who claim paranormal abilities have yet to prove it.
try having a baby and see how it feels. I for one know there are vampires. I can't prove it but I see things from the other side and have seen them. but, there are other things I have seen as well that are not vampires and a lot worse. a vampire lives by a certain rule of conduct as well.
Ashphalt Tears....one cannot be turned?
Just a few pennies worth, why not, this is a very interesting subject.
Mmm, the notion of being turned is akin to awakening, the two are not mutually exclusive. My own view differs from yours, one can be turned to the "darkness"
The other spectrum, to see not only the mundane here on Earth but the shadow world. It is well documented, even exaggerated in the Russian films, Night and day walker, drunk on pigs blood...the "Gloom"
I thought all you guys were Nuts until I saw it for myself...interesting. Now the VVC and Dark Church do not know what to do with me. I fit in neither camp, but "see" often, now I dreamwalk and worry about both sides. Both sides now see their Peril hence the new Green Pope, great progress.
Truthfully, I do not agree with either camp, you both have valid points.
Therefore I take an existentialists view point, the conflict is largely irrelevant if Earth is dying. For this reason the balance of usage and parasite may have to be addressed if balance is not restored.
Deathnitegirl, you mentioned the whole garlic thing, also a very interesting subject both biologically and historically.
"I LOVE GARLIC" particularly in mash potatoes, but since being turned am very allergic to this, sunlight etc.
However, before the Goths n vamps jump onboard, I am also allergic to nuts and apples since my "episode" certain painkillers like tramadol can cause this so logic states"ah yes, you took painkillers at the same time as being turned, so you are linking the wrong results.
Not so fast !
At EXACTLY the same time I met a self proclaimed with"Dutchy number one" who studied in Africa under a firewalking witchdoctor....she fell to her knees mumbling witchcraft in a Nightclub in Queensland, New Zealand....coincidence?
I think not, I felt my Soul dividing in Two.
Ever since, my blood results are off the scale...I have a heamaglobin count above Lance Armstrong, as if I am doping. Mr Dr's are flumoxed.
personally I don't go by one set of belief system. But I do recognize that what others do worship and believe in does exist. I am not in any set organization. As by being changed into a vampire personally, I think it could be possible. The reason I say this, is because vampyrism is a curse. A disease given to Cain and carried down to now.
based on what i have encountered, i do think someone can be turned. a black swan for instance in constant contact with a vamp often starts to exhibit vampire tendencies and these tend to get stronger til the person for all intents and purposes are themselves a vampyre (or vampire).
im not saying in every instance this is the case, but it would seem statistically a long shot that so many black swans i have encountered are actually unawakened vamps themselves.
~W~
I try to keep my beliefs as eclectic, and non-traditional as possible. I believe if you have vampire tendencies to any degree, thren you've got it
I was told along time ago that I was a psy vampire then later on in the yrs, I was told that I was more of a elemental vampire.
I'm still learning what that is, I was told that a elemental vampire is someone who's in touch with all walks of life, and they fed off the energy of life and nature. Elemental vampires are earth creation and protectors, there more down to earth, saddened, keep to themselves, they enjoy the outside world more, very earthly and very good in growing plants, trees, flowers and creating new plant life. They also are loving beings, no signs of hate, racism.
I just wish that I could found this group ppls again, so I could learn more and to teach others.
It's said that this group of El.Vamp. been round for well ovre 2 or more hundreds yrs now, it's said they live in eastern world and some parts of the western world.
When I meet one of them, I was in my hometown ohio, usa partying with friends. I don't know how he know about me, and the things I felt, but some how he did, and he said to me stop living a lie, stop making everyone else happy, the time has come for u to be free with ur, your not a Christian, or anything else that man-kind says. Then I ask him what u think i am, he. answered me Elemental Vampire. He give me his info to call him, but my friend told my mom, and my mom took the mans info from me, I never found it or seen him again, that was in the yr of 1998
Aja: Thank heaven you had a smart Mom. There's no doubt he was using quite-transparent flattery to try and seduce you.
Upir, you also bring up a point about seduction. Vampires are known for that too but it isn't being discussed a lot. Vampire sex is supposed to be just about legendary.
personally I think even if you don't believe in vampires and one of them seduces you, has sex with you, feeds off of you, even if it was psychically, you'll just know, and that'll be that, and you'll believe.
with some people it takes an experience like that for them to believe and some people will never have that experience and that's just how there life was meant to be and like everything skeptics balance out the believers
KQ --
Actually... I'm just about the only one who has studied the true sexual nature of Vampires, specifically. I discussed a bit of this earlier in this thread, in fact.
Should the topic of exactly what historically defines the Slavic Vampire and specifically what makes their sexuality so legendary... you might enjoy my profile and journal.
I can tell that it must be based on my sexual experiences. Mainly it's kind of like WTF, I've never done this before, never studied it at all, how do I know what I'm doing? I shouldn't know what I'm doing but I do. I shouldn't be so skilled either but I am, never done it before. It's like that stuff comes prewired in my brain somehow and I managed to access it.
awakenings were mentioned earlier and with mine I started realizing things when I hit puberty, but it kicked up the year I turned 15. Rationalized everything with some other explanation, didn't think vampires were real, at least not how media describes them.
The fact that I could be one didn't cross my mind until a friend of mine put he pieces together and brought it up. At that point I thought about it and things started to make more sense and I sought to learn the things that still didn't and what I am capable of. I'm till learning and experiencing new things every day as I go through life.
a woman psi vamp tapped me on the bus last month.we both enjoyed it very much.i wish she had given me her phone number.i sometimes feel i can tap into the energy of the earth and i love live shellfish.eating up a live clam or oyster makes me all happy.
Energy of the Earth, ahem that is mine alone to wield =)
I figured out how to manipulate it and feed off of it before I realized I am a vampire
since i havent seen it mentioned yet, you asked about disadvantages...since living vampires (or vampyres) are subject to sickness just like everyone else, if you are sang, you have to be extra careful and not feed on someone you barely know....there needs to be blood work done and it can be a real pain as patience is required.

Lordwolf --
Forgive me, but can't help but ask the obvious here:
Given that "living vampires" are physiologically "just like everyone else", as you so correctly put it ... then, why claim to be vampires?
my suggestion is that it works on a different level than flesh and bone. its not something i can prove empirically but something that i feel within myself. there are small things that i feel are rather unusual, but again, they prove nothing.
you can choose to accept my assertions or not (i dont really expect anyone to as i wouldnt just accept wild sounding assertions from others), but when i make the statement "i am a vampyre" i dont really expect acceptance. i wouldnt say this in day to day life, but only feel comfortable saying here as this is a site for vampires and those friendly to them.
~W~
Lordwolf --
Thank you for your reply and for acknowledging that the only actual difference between "living vampires"and the rest of Humankind... is a difference in how they feel about themselves.
your most welcome but that isnt exactly what i said. ill accept it however as if your not one, then you really cannot understand.
~W~
Fair enough... as I fully agree: I am most certainly not one of you.
from what I understand vampires are just more durable and have a better immune system than most humans, but it is still possible to get STD's and blood borne diseases
also, I've heard that when a woman gets pregnant with a vampire child that she can drink, supposedly vampire babies are more immune to alcohol
not that I drink or wish to get pregnant but just something I'm curious about
personally my immune system seems better than others i know, and i seem to heal faster.
that said, if one awakens and discovers that they are vampyre (a living vampire as opposed to vampire...undead) then id suggest taking all precautions anyone else should against blood borne pathogens.
~W~
To add my two cents, having a good immune system or being tougher than others is not a sign of vampirism. The immune system gets stronger the more its used, and there are lot of tough folk out there. Someone I know was shot with a taser by police, it did not faze him at all. Tasers disable people by using the current to contract the muscles I believe, yet it had no effect on him. As for healing, that depends on how healthy you are, old people for example may not heal even the slightest of scratches for a month.
MM, thanks for the great dose of much-needed reality, here.
Of course, you are absolutely correct; one can and often does feel any number of ways that have little if any basis in reality. And all too often, we tend to incorrectly perceive things about others and ourselves more as we might wish them to be than how they really are.
As a sang vampire myself, I think someone needs to point out that not all sang vampires believe that our blood feeding is a way to draw some kind of ephemeral and undefined "energy" or "life force" from another person.
Many do, and many of those who do can use various forms of psi-feeding as a substitute for blood. It can often only satisfy temporarily, but it can work. For some of us, though, such feeding does no real good.
There's very little nutritional value to human blood, and certainly nothing that would - when the contents are looked at on their own - provide any real benefit beyond that of a balanced diet. There is medical precedent for certain substances to react together in unpredictable ways when being broken down by different individuals. Some people's bodies break down caffeine differently from normal, and it causes a sedative effect instead of the usual stimulant response. If you consume certain antipsychotics - which are designed to prevent hallucinations - immediately before or after the right (legal) stimulants, the reaction as your body breaks both compounds down can produce hallucinogenic reactions in some people.
Basically, while the specific mechanics and biochemistry behind it isn't fully understood, there are at least some of us who feel we gain a specifically physical benefit from drinking blood that isn't satisfied by the consumption of other food products.
one thing that blood does have is plenty of iron
some people do have iron deficiencies and might therefore crave blood
for those people I would recommend a nice, big bowl of something else that's rich in iron and see how that goes, it should fill the same need
there is also a psychological form of vampirism which is kind of like an addiction, you can trick your body into thinking it needs just about anything and have it be satisfied with just about anything, such as blood and if that's the case people can speak to a counselor to fix that issue, just like you would for cigarettes, alcohol, or various illegal substances
while on the topic, with some substances, such as crack or heroin, if you were on it quite regularly and quit cold turkey things will go horribly wrong and it's even possible to die from it
maybe that's what it is for . . . let's call them blood addicts, maybe their system gets too dependent on it that quitting cold turkey will cause serious side effects and various health problems. Maybe they need to slowly wean themselves off of it, find a substitutes
or even have it studied more so someone can invent a medication to help deal with withdrawl and help adjust your system to life without it, for example: those who regularly did heroin commonly get put on suboxin which helps them get cleaned with less drastic side effects and health issues
There is an old saying that my only mentor told me quite frequently:
"To know what it means to be something else, you can't learn only by asking. You need to experience it, for yourself, for a time, and feel things through those eyes."
For starters, the two most common vampires/Vampyres (however one prefers to spell or pronounce) that are known are, yes, Sanguine and psychic/"psy/psi".
However, the variations "psy" and "psi", in all technicality, hold two different meanings.
Sanguine Vampyres, obviously having the need to drink blood to sustain their own health-
Then there is the psychic/"psy" Vampyres, who feed on the psychic/mental energy of those around them.
The third, however, which many people tend to forget about, is very similar to the psychic Vampyre, but is still just as different in comparison as the Sanguine. This is the Psionic Vampyre. The Psionic Vampyre feeds on energy, just like the psychic, but the energy is of a different kind - Spiritual energy. In other words, the energy generated by the Soul of an individual. The Psionic Vampyre is also the most dangerous kind, because they can drain your very life from you, and the more skilled or powerful they are, the less likely it is that they even need to make physical contact to do so. Some can even feed from a distance. But the likelihood that you will meet a solely Psionic Vampyre is so slim that it is next to nonexistent.
Most other Vampyres, like myself, that I've met, have many of the same characteristics that I possess--
heightened senses (smell, sight, hearing, and some of them are also hyper-sensitive to touch), greater strength than they appear to have, and some (myself, for example) have natural night-vision. The list goes on, but in general, many Vampyres possess many of the same characteristics.
- - - - - -
There is no real solid description of what makes a Vampyre a Vampyre, since just like the Mundane, each of us is different from the next. But the primary thing that has been pointed out about each of us is that we need to 'feed'/consume the life-force energy of another thing or person, to sustain our own (be it to sustain mental health, physical, or otherwise.) Because of the varying degrees of capability, not many people can really pinpoint how much a particular Vampyre needs to 'feed' to sustain his/herself. But what is most commonly known (mostly in literature) is that the older we get, the more we need to sustain our health, and thus, the more we 'feed', or the more we need do so. Speaking from my own experience, this is very true, however, as I need to drink blood almost every day, or I will suffer severe repercussions.
That I have noticed, there are not really any advantages or disadvantages to being any kind of Vampyre. But this is only because unlike most, I'm not a singular "type/breed" (I happen to be what my old friends call a "tribrid".) I'm Sanguinarian, "psy", and Psionic. I will say, however, that the one disadvantage to being a Psionic Vampyre is that a Psionic can't eat or drink like "normal" people, because for them, it is a different kind of "life", as a whole. Normal food or beverages can be lethal for a person who is a Psionic Vampyre, though in which ways, again, varies by the individual. In my case, there are many foods and liquids, including regular water of any kind and most vegetables and even meats that I can't consume.
we have been discussing the advantages and disadvantages of being a vampyre. in my point of view, an advantage can also be seen as a disadvantage. because sometimes it just drives you up the wall. Like having your ears ringing constantly. Plus I don't know who else has this problem but I have my immune system in overdrive. which causes physical problems because my immune system is so high.
allergies are caused by the immune system seeing harmless pollen as something harmful, which is more likely to happen with a stronger immune system
so less illness = more allergies
which allergies cause sickness just like disease so if a stronger immune system means allergies there is really no difference between those who get sick more but don't have allergies
