The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

The question that I would like to impose upon you brothers and sisters is this: Are we all truly dead, and reanimated? Vampiric folklore will have you believe that in order to be a vampire, you must first die. That is unless you are born a vampire, and then aren't you sort of a dead birth? If I died, I have no memory of it. My mother and father most certainly aren't vampires. You'd just have to meet the people, then it would be obvious. I guess what I'm trying to get across is, are we now living a life as undead, not remembering the life that we lived once before, and not remembering the death that lead to our vampiric states? I find myself often cold to the feelings of others, what others call life, and society, I see as useless endeavors. A good example, is I have found someone who awakened true warm feelings in me. Something I hadn't really known before. While I had relationships in the past, they were filled with a fake kind of love. This new feeling is different. It feels familiar, but new at the same time. What I'm saying is, Am I regaining something that I lost in my previous existence as a mortal? I leave it to you dears....decide what you think, because i'm dying(haha, interesting being that I might already be)to know.

i am not dead right now, but i did die in a hospital when i was a child, if that counts, an i do have a soul, at least i think i do, so i would say i was alive. as for my parents my father deald in the black arts when he was a teenager ( dont ask what kind, i dont know the specificks)

In all the stories it is said that to be a vampire the mortal soul must die. I odn't think that the body dies, it is jus the soul inside. But then again most vampires have souls, so maybe after the mortal soul dies the vampire regains a new soul. The warm feelings you are feeling are probably the true feelings of love. Just a thought. I am not a vampire nor claim to be, just interested in the mystical beings.

i dont believe that you have to die to become a vampyre though. that is just something fictional, a myth about vampyres.

we are born to die...some die quicker than others (emotionally and what not)

I don't think you have to die to be or become a vampire... My opinion from my experiences, and I don't wish to elaborate on a public level...maybe in personal messeges if anyone's curious, but it's not that exciting of a story really. Anyway, I don't believe death is a factor...

I believe that you can die in ways other than physical death...i.e. Emotional death, mental death...in other words having a part of us that is so vital to our being killed would be the same as dying, and therefore we could be reborn again, minus what we lost in the first place.......

you are only dead when you think that life is over...you could still be living..but emotionly, and knowingly you could be dead.

You don't have to be physically dead to be a vampire. You could be a mental or spiritual vampire that feeds on others soul or their mental abilities. This causes the people around you to feel sad or tired. Your body doesn't have to die. If you really think about it, if your body dies your muscular structure and skin will start to decompose do to the lack of proper circulation. In reality, you would look somewhat like the Land of the Dead zombies. It has to be just the soul that dies. The body doesn't totally die, it sort of shuts down a little. That's why we need others blood. It helps keep the body from eating itself. Well that is my opinion, but what do I know.

Ii think that once you become a vampire a part of your soul dies. Maybe even the part that needs the life force to survive.
Ii too have grown out of what most call a social life. I istay at home and leave only togo to work, It's kind of sad really. I try to go out every once and a while, but Ii find myself walking in the industrial section of town where there is no one. I have retreated from society with out even meaning to.

Do I truly look dead? My heart is still beating and I don't smell dead. I have worked in a morgue before and no I am not dead. I am not cold and clamy. I have no eyeballs hanging out or anything. I am very much alive. and yes i do classify myself as a vampire.

Although I don't truly believe that all vampires have died, you make a good point about saying that you died inside a long time ago....that happens from bad relationships, constant disappointments in life, etc.

I think that it is wonderful that you've found someone to reawaken those feelings in you....which probably means that the feeling of love was never dead to you, it was just hidden for the right person :)

Well if emotions are a determining factor of life or death, than i have had a few friends born dead.

we are truly dead cause for the fact that we are or were alive once and then later on in life depending on what you doi with it destroys you and you forever sleep and return in the horrors of your nightmare and haunt as what you wish to be which in all comes back to those who wish to be a vampire here on the rave ro are one as i type now so in all we are already dead cause we all will die one day there is always a beginning and an end to this life we have now ~!!!~

My belief: the body dies, the soul doesn't. The soul is immortal, existing in human and vampire/vampyre alike...

in my opion part of ur soul dies but you gain so much thur death that u don't mind part of ur soul in exchange. AS for the love it prolly is an old flame from a former life.

If you think metaphorically, then I would say yes. Death is a sort of metamorphosis from what you were into something different. My death was that of a idealistic individual with smiles and a belief that all could be worked out with time and understanding. That person has since died and a new individual has cropped up in its place. I am now cynical, heartless, and pragmatic. Although my body did not physically die, I have died nonetheless. Perhaps that is what the whole undead thing is really about. Our former selves have died and we have metamorphosed into something else entirely.

Does it seem like nothing is interesting to you anymore?
Do you feel as much as a rock does?
Does everything around you seem hopeless and not worth fighting for?
Did you lost the ability to see the good in the bad, and hope for better days to come?
Then yes, you're emotionally dead in my opinion.

Some people are emotionally dead.Unfortunately,often I feel like when even though I hate to admit it.

in some cases i do believe that there are some people that died and came back as a vampire...BUT, in this day and age i think that occurance of that happening is slim to none...so in conclusion...i think im alive...

I see plenty of people that are "alive" but to look in there eyes they have been dead a long time mostly homeless and addicts they have givin up along time ago and are just wating for there phisical body to die I beleve a vampire is someone who finaly finds comfort in the darker side of life feels a draw a connection to that side of the spirit word I don't drink blood to servive my feeding comes from the emotion of others when I give pleasure I feel refreshed new again

No i know im not dead... well not as far as i know. but i know others who are..

i do believe the death that is referred to is more figurative then actual, alot or all that you were before your awakening dies and you become different in nature some for the better some for the worse...

easy to find out, first.. do you have your own grave complete with all medical documention?
second, are you still paying taxes? or will you be paying taxes in the near future?

if no to the first or yes to the second, then you are obviously not dead

tax evasion would count as you'd get arressted for it..and obviously if you were dead you'd be able to get off on a technicality

there have already be some mildly humerous and indeed well resolved ideas already suggested, and on either i would like to agree.

to be clincially considered dead, there is a variety of forms, documents and physical criteria one would need to match although in a vampiric sense, i do not believe that this would be necessary.

to be dead of all mortal emotion yet sensitive to all mortality is to be somewhat vampirically attuned. thus, to be emotionally cold could not be considered dead....

now i have confused myself... i will return later and try to translate...
