There are many taboos through out the world, in language, customs, and religion. Reading the religion thread that had been going on for a while sparked my interest. Being a vampire, otherkin, etc do you have specific personal taboos that you follow?
Do you consider them to be taboo due to how strongly you feel about them? Did you create them or take someone else's belief system as your own? I am interested in seeing what others think.
my personal taboos are based on if it harms others directly (except for if someone harms someone that i consider important to me).
if i were starving and someone died, i wouldnt blink at eating them, and that is pretty much the strongest taboo in society.
sexually, i think that any two adults can do as they wish with each other, regardless of what society has to say about it.

BDSM is considered to be taboo. I personally think that as long as all parties involved are consenting adults...have fun!

Now you’d think that after all of that I’d be pretty twisted….well the only issue / fetish I do have (aside from getting sexually aroused from watching bloody horror films and having menstrual blood present during intercourse and / or drinking it) is a mommy thing. Every woman I have sex with I invariably call mommy before, during, and after intercourse…basically any time I’m horny. As you could imagine, this behavior is met with mixed results; a mixture of revulsion or serious apprehension…but I eventually get my way.

I also practice in the BDSM society, and I believe that if two adults are consenting then what is considered "deviant" or not the societal norm, Still can be norm for you.
When I embraced the darkness, I was told not to feed on children, Old people, or the sick. I have maintained those standards.
well stated LadyAmethystWillow....those are basically my own guidelines as well. i will go out of my way to help those that hare helpless...but someone that refuses to help their self is beneath my contempt.

I think there are some taboos that are soley based upon religion, still trickling down and harming people. I believe you act as desired, as long as none are intentionally harmed. Period.
Masochism seems to be a great taboo, because many that aren't can't comprehend how someone can love or even become fully aroused by pain. For me, it was the ultimate high.. It wasn't just the sight of blood that frenzied me and relieved me to my core, it was the release of it. The pain set me free..
Of course, that got me in trouble..Many thought I was doing it for attention or because that I was depressed.
No matter how I explained it, I became disturbing or weird to them. So, I just stopped doing it.
I have found other ways to "release" but they aren't as satisfying, of course.
