Most have seen the movie underworld by now and many think that so much of vampire legend it has invented its on history and legends to satisfy hollywood.
The Reality is that The Corbinus Family or (Huniads) existed and were an enourmosly powerful family ih Hungaria and old world Transylvania and that a daughter of that Family Matia Daughter of Matthias Corvinus did exist and that she did meet and was influenced by Vlad Dracul who was imprisoned in one of the towers of their ancient castle. It is evemn believed that she was legendary in that she would have seving gilrs killed so that she might bathe in their blood and stay youthfull forever. While the last is suspect I thought that all should know somtimes fiction realy is based on truth and soemtimes truth is stranger than fiction
I haven't seen the movie yet, I'll probably wait till it comes out on DVD...
I'm afraid it's going to kill the first one for me....
but I don't think it's the way your thinking of it... it's hollywood, the goal is to creat something original, not the same old thing...
If people don't believe in Vampires, then as far as they are concerened they have no real history, only what we make up...
;-) and if you want to keep a forum thread from being RIA'ed then the best trick is to figure out where it belongs... like this is about a movie, which should be in the sandbox...
See?
Maybe someone will move it there for you.
I have read about that story where a lady she is actually a wife of draculs and has her guards help her kidnapp people then kill them and bathe in their blood cool huh?~NFA
i beleave Cancer will allow it to stay.. i im glad to see someone else has done their homework
Wee I found it.
Nope havn't seen the movie yet sorry. But still very interesting.
Kiara
this is very true.. But Vlad was a residenent at one point at the mathius castle and her was hiding I believe from one of the brothers or something at that time. He was not a prisoner as far as my research has shown me. And the wife that Vlad took up was actually a cousin to mathius.. her name is " Ilona Szilagy".
umm wasnt it elizabeth bathory who bathed in young womans blood to stay youthful??????? and was also said to be linked with vlad dracul... so may i ask how you got ur information lol not that im doubt it or anything just want to know?
thanx
I was gonna ask the same thing, wasn't it Elizabeth Bathory that bathed in the blood of young girls???Sounds like an interesting interpretation of Vlad's history i have to say...lok forward to reading more. Are there any online links to this information?
Maam, if you do research for that time and era, Violence was politics. I am sure Bathory bathed in her victims.. But do you actually believe she was the first. If I remember correctly she learned her thirst through witnessing these torturous crimes. So to assume that bathory was the only one to bath in her victims would be astonishingly wrong.
I strongly believe that Vampires have a beginnig and there story should never have been brought to a fucking movie! Movies stereotype so much shit its unbelievable! I have watched the movies and am disgusted by half of them such movies like "Blade" and Dracula 3000. They were all lies and Vampiryism should be taken seriously!
Yes, Elizabeth Bathory did believe that bathing in the blood of maids would keep her youthful~ though I doubt she is the only one. You can actually find rather a lot of history & info on her here:

Saying people shouldn't make movies on vampires is silly. How many of us would be here without books and movies getting us interested. Any ways I will check out the link on the original subject.
Danzig is right. Where would any of us be (not all just some people) without the movies and books? That's probably what got most people started on researching and interested. But DarkBeauty has a point too. Vampirism should be taken seriously, however in todays world I have a feeling it won't be happening anytime soon.
The movie "Underworld" is one of the best Vampire Movies that I believe has been created, but I wasn't aware it was based on Hungarian folklore. There you are now, you learn something new every day.
To those of you who talked about Elizabeth Bathory we have brilliant resources within the database for you to read more about her if you wish :)
