I heard there are many ways to meet and talk to your spirit guide. I'd like to learn how, besides using the Ouija board. I know so far meditating works (as far i know researching it) with others. The reason I asked this is because there are times I feel a presence or having strange cold spots. Any suggestions? Have you folks done this before? I am very curious, and like a friendly talk. :-)
Spirit guides? I dunno, I've never had a vision and they don't talk to me. They've have never done a damned thing for me that I know of.
So I have no use for gods, or demons, or spirits. I prefer to be the master of my own fate as far as possible. Death is one thing I can't do anything about. I used to pray that prayer, once upon a time, and only got silence.
Why should I believe that any god or spirit is any better than I am? Where is the evidence? I am a free moral agent, so I must make the judgment call about who or what I trust.
I have only one criterion for believing in any spirits or gods, or if they expect any kind of relationship with me. Here is the deal: give me back my beloved dead, and do it now. Then, end death for ever once and for all. Otherwise, we have nothing to talk about and they can all go take a long walk off a short pier. They are of no use to me otherwise.
I have been told that god is a god of love, but death took away what I love, and will take everything in the end. According to the bible, it was god who put a curse on all living thins on earth to die the death, which in my book makes 'him' the biggest mass murderer of all time. Heaven does not make up for all the pain and suffering, not in my book.
I'm, guessing this wasn't the answer you were looking for, but there are lots of folks who believe differently about the subject than I do. Perhaps they will have some answers that will hold some meaning for you...
Most believe that to contact your spirit guide meditation is a good start. When you meditate, focus on a higher plane and ask for guidance from your spirit guide
Actually it's Visualization that works best. And there are a couple that I know of to contact Spiritual guides but I don't have them written down. At-least not yet. I did repost a visualization that I use and you are more then welcome to use it. It's a good place to start.
I agree with the meditation, Ouija boards can be dangerous.
Also sometimes if you think about specific things you want to know about them as you're falling asleep sometimes you can channel your dreams to find out, which is similar to meditation where as you're accessing deeper levels of consciousness.
My primary spirit guide didn't die til I was 7.5 so I actually physically met her.
I have a Spirit Guide. How I was taught to be open to my Guide was to begin by taking quite moments alone. This can be finding a special place where you live that is safe, secure, alone.
You can even create a special place in meditations also and make it what ever you want. Give it details, what is there, what is the temperature, what can you smell, see, touch. is it in a field, or by a river, or by sea.
Then make contact.
I keep it simple by starting out, "Are you here?" Then I quite my mind. Start off at first with simple yes or no questions. I also write down or draw images that come into my mind when I am speaking to my spirit guide.
My Spirit Guide now shows up in many ways. He comes to me as a four legged sometimes, as a winged brother. Once I opened up and believed I then can see my Guide has always been with me.
I know now every one has one. It's rather they awake to there guide or not.
No, I would say my so-called spirit guides have not done much for me either.
No, I don't know their names but if I had to guess it is probaby Larry, Moe and Curly.
I was taken on a spirit quest to identify my spirit totem (wrote about it in my journal about 6 years ago). It helped give me a path to follow, but no spirits have ever "spoken" with me.
Are you talking about your Spirit Guide, or 'Guardian Angel'?
Keeping in mind that there is a difference, and a 'Guardian Angel' is often someone that you looked up to in your childhood.
A Spirit Guide is usually either that or 'it' takes the form of an animal that you hold some form of connection with. This is at least the way it is in the Native Indian Faiths.
For example, as I'm half Native Indian, myself, and I hold very strongly to my Native ties, just as I do to another tie even deeper than my physical blood. Since I was a child, I have had a connection with wolves of all 'breeds' and form.
A person can often 'communicate' with their Spirit Guide, through meditation, but most often, this works most with a little help from other 'forces' (Mind you, I don't refer to drugs or "medications"). What I mean by "other 'forces'" is more or less simple. For example, Sage, or other herbs of the sort, which may be as spices around the stove top (though I really hate using that last phrase).
If you like, then I can give you some hints or advice in a "PM", or I can simply post it on my own profile, in the "journals", and you can read it there. I would likely put it in the "pool of thought" portion, since I fill everything else with other writings. But if you wish, then I would be happy to help you, unless you already have someone aiding you in this.
I've only researched thus far but I have to agree using chemicals to induce meeting spirit guides is the same as using a ouija board you don't actually know if the "person" you are talking to is actually safe so far all my research points to meditation the burning of specific herbs and being open. that last is crucial from what i've read and you cannot have ANY FEAR. don't know if helped
I don't know anyone in the spiritualist community that would use a Ouija board to contact their guides. I was in and around that community in Orange County CA for years. We just said our guides. Visualization techniques were used to hone psychic skills but through guided meditations often some would contact or hear their guides. I am kind of neutral even at this time if they even exist but then I have seen them and know the name of one. I just don't like to become dogmatic about the existence of anything really.
As for the board, it is just a board. I have used it hundreds of times with nothing negative happening. Maybe that is because I don't believe in demons. Sometimes I think we psyche ourselves out and create what we most fear. I do believe in thought forms. We used the boards of differing types in very respectful ways and didn't just pull any board out of a Milton Bradley box and start using it. For most it would do nothing quite frankly. See it isn't the board, it is the person. If you don't put protection...shielding around yourself then you are remiss. You don't have to believe anything exists but you need to be respectful enough of yourself to take no chances regardless. Most spiritualists use various visualizations because they believe when you do any work where you deal in higher vibrations you open yourself up to anything and it could even be something you conjured up yourself because of what you believe. Therefore you have to clear the boards and put up shielding because it is the person whenever they do any kind of psychic work that can become what spiritualists call an "open vessel". It is the act and not the board. This can happen merely reading tarot cards. But in the case of the cards most often that won't happen because you don't have to be psychic at all to be able to give a reading. What you have to do is memorize all the meanings of everything. Guides are there to protect you but if you don't acknowledge them or believe in that sort of thing you are cut off unfortunately.
meditation and guided meditation works very well for opening the door to your spirit guide
they never spoke directly to me either, but they do tend to leave little signs here and there, so apart from meditation and an open mind, but watchful for little omens left here and there....
One way I know some connect to their guides is through dreaming. Take a piece of paper and write your objective on it and put it under your pillow, such as who your guides are, etc. It might take several nights especially if you aren't really a lucid dreamer but I would try. Many use techniques of this type for various things.
You might notice the similarities between these two:
"Spirit guides are incorporeal beings that are assigned to us before we are born that help nudge and guide us through life. They’re responsible for helping us fulfill the spiritual contract we make with ourselves before we incarnate. Your higher self helps select these guides, who help us while we are living out our incarnation."

This author goes on to speak about getting male and female energies and states but in all actuality they are just energies. Usually if they appear in mind they will appear in a way that is comfortable for you or how you expect. There are always exceptions to anything anyone suggests of course.
Now another type of guiding hand is this:
According to folklore each individual has nine Power Totems, which work with us during our lifetimes. One does not choose these animals they choose you. They enter our unconscious and aid us in our spiritual discovery representing some aspect or quality one needs to work on for personal growth. If they are lifelong Personal Totems they will always be wild animals and not domesticated. There are two totems out of the nine that stay with us throughout our lifetime. One is on the right and one is on the left of us. The right represents the feminine side of us, and the left the masculine characteristics. The left is essentially a father figure that helps us with courage. The right is the mother figure that helps us with the nurturing instinct of self and others one comes into contact. The other seven totems are usually found through personal discovery.
I can't give a link to this because this is from my own article. A lot of this is what you believe, Most often they will be animals you are attracted to. Many collect them like elephants, tigers, lions and the like.
