"Evidence leads investigators to believe a Tri-State murder suspect thinks he is a vampire.

Dean Geldrich is accused of killing a Middletown woman in what prosecutors call a "ritualistic murder."

"This guy has killed once before, admitted he killed before," said Craig Hedric, Butler County Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. "He's admitted he killed again. Is he capable of killing again? Who knows."

Butler County prosecutors say it's a chance they are not willing to take.

Their prime suspect is a man they say has filed his teeth to look like a vampire.

Right now, Dean Allen, 38, is behind bars, charged with the brutal, bludgeoning death of Miranda Lint, 28.

Middletown Police found her body on January 3rd. Prosecutors say what they would uncover is a ritualistic crime, eerily similar to an earlier murder.

"Very similar pieces of evidence from the first homicide and this homicide. Duct tape was used in both."

Prosecutors say Geldrich bound Miranda, just as he did the victim in a 1987 killing that would send him to prison for 14 years.

Both victims were killed with a wooden stick. Both were covered with a blanket.

"This is the type of case, in my opinion, that demands a death penalty."

When asked "who killed Miranada," prosecutors say Geldrich told police, "if a farmer has carrots growing in his garden then you can say that the farmer planted them there." He supposedly went on to say, "alright, I will stop referring to the body as the carrot."

Detectives' notes show Geldrich talked a lot of the Renaissance. Prosecutors say they found vampire and witchcraft items inside his home.

Unusual evidence aside, prosecutors say their job is simple.

"I want this victim and her family to feel that Miranda got her day in court, that Miranda received justice."

Prosecutors say Geldrich told police the motive for the murder was the victim's "lying."

Local 12 called Geldrich's defense attorneys. We were unable to reach them for comment.

A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for March 24th."

My assertion is now more than ever that the promotion by some of the reality of fictional vampires does indeed..as we have seen countless times in the past..have a negative impact overall. This guy is much older..and still believes that crap. I see so many people on this site who uphold these role player and movie ideals as if they were fact. This is indeed the consequence of such beliefs for some, so how does the same belief affect the public at large?

Before we start talking about the "weaker minds" out there..I would suggest we at least consider the notion that absolutely an encouragement of the type of nonsense that led to this crime. Mental defectiveness is one thing..but is not this irrational belief overall a sign of psychological deficit? I am eager to hear your opinions.

I think that anytime fantasy crosses over into reality that you are dealing with someone who has serious mental issues. It is one thing to role play but when you start to believe that you are a "true" vampire and try flying off the top of your apartment building then we are dealing with someone who is clearly having some major problems.

Most true vampires will not go so far as to go 'look I'm here~' in the spotlight.

They rather be elusive, as it were.

I looked up the subject and found this one, in Britain

"A teenager has been found guilty of the 'savage' murder of a 90-year-old widow at her north Wales home.
The judge at Mold Crown Court recommended that Mathew Hardman should serve a minimum of 12 years
As the jury returned a unanimous verdict, the 17-year-old wept in the dock and his mother shrieked and sobbed in the public gallery.

Mabel Leyshon was stabbed to death at her home in Llanfairpwll on Anglesey, in November 2001.

Hardman - who had lived just a few yards away and had been Mrs Leyshon's paper boy - mutilated her body before placing pokers at her feet in the shape of a cross.

Her heart had been removed, wrapped in newspaper and placed in a saucepan on a silver platter next to her body
The prosecution said her killer drank her blood in a "macabre ritual".

After the verdict was delivered, the judge lifted a ban on naming Hardman which had been in place throughout the trial.

The prosecution said the teenager - who denied the charge - was obsessed with vampires and the occult, and had told others he wanted to kill someone in order to become immortal.

The 14-day hearing was told how he smashed his way into Mrs Leyshon's bungalow where he was watching television.
He stabbed her 22 times. DNA found at the murder scene matched that of blood found on a knife at Hardman's home.

The court was told of an incident two months before Mrs Leyshon's murder, when Hardman had accused a 16-year-old German girl of being a vampire.

Claiming she was "one of them", he begged the student to bite his neck so that he too could become a vampire.

When she refused, he became violent and began insisting, pressing his neck against her mouth. Eventually the girl had to summon help.
The prosecution also outlined how Hardman had surfed the internet for vampire websites and had read a magazine which featured an article on how to conduct a black mass.

The teenager denied being "obsessed", and told that court that his alleged fascination with vampires was nothing more than a "subtle interest".

Sentencing Hardman, Mr Justice Richards ordered that he be detained at Her Majesty's pleasure - a life sentence - and ruled that he should serve a minimum of 12 years for the murder.

"It was planned and carefully calculated," he said.

'Brutality'

"Why you, an otherwise pleasant and otherwise well regarded young man, should act in this way is difficult to comprehend.

"You had hoped for immortality. All you achieved was to brutally end another person's life and the bringing of a life sentence upon yourself."

A jury took almost four hours to reach a verdict at the end of a trial which had been so gruesome journalists had found it difficult to report.

Hardman had been living with his mother Julia, a nurse, and her partner Alan Benneyworth, a former Ministry of Defence fireman, in a bungalow in Llanfairpwll.

Asthma attack

Born and raised in Amlwch, on the north coast of Anglesey, he moved to Llanfairpwll in 1998, when he was 13 years old.

That same year, his father - who had been separated from his mother - died from a massive asthma attack.

ok, I'm going to go out on a limb here but I'm going to say that most of the people who have responded to this thread don't believe in vampires.
I am a vampire, I drain energy (not blood). I don't kill people, I eat garlic, I get sick, I eat, sleep, shit, fuck and die just like everyone else. It's not a bunch of gaming bullshit for me, it's my life.

That being said, This guy sounds like a classic sociopath. The fact he says he's a vampire is just an excuse, it's secondary. He has no remorse for what he did, does not see the victim as a person.
He's killed before, and should've been given the death penalty then instead of being let out again. He should be thankfull that he does not live in Va, he would've never seen the light of day.

I wonder where you get the idea that many of the posters don't believe in vampires? They, as do I, merely reject the idea of the fictional vampire.

the simple fact is that this man would likely have eventually killed someone anyways...if he didn't obsess on vampirism..he would have found something else....

I see little difference in blaming the hollywood vampire in theis case..to blaming mettalica for causing suicides with the song blackened....(and they were taken to court over that one too...)
yes...his focus was on the mythological concept of a vampire....but publicaly trying to "Teach" about real vampirism does nothing more than get one ridiculed....
I saw the aftermath of when Konstantinos went on the talk show circuit....for months afterwards there was a surge in anti goth and open public ridicule of that subculture whereas normally it is grudgingly accepted and ingnored...
so no I don't feel that being more open about what it really is is a very good idea....how do you define a vamp after all?

No one is blaming Hollywood. The idea is that the promotion of the belief that film-variety vampires are indeed real does carry some blame. It's one thing to say he likely would have killed anyway..but another to remove the central designer element of the crime. Also, I don't see where the education about real vampirism falls into..just the acceptance that the fictional and mythological vampire does not exist.

A ritualistic murder with some vampire or occult paraphenalia found in this guys home, does not, for me, give enough information to make any kind of assessment as to whether the prevailing cultural ideal of 'vampires', had a hand in feeding his psychosis.

As was said, it's likely he would have commited these crimes with or without the influence of the occult.

Hmm.. this kind of thing is hard to say what was this teens motivation to kill another was. Only he knows, and really it was a really bad light to be shed on those of our communities who actually research and live the lifestyle with intelligence.

I don't think that his mere look into the hollywood aspect of it was enough to make him commit the crime he did. What has this world come to?

wow that guy is nuts, i mean if he was influenced by vampirism, then whos to say that he watched one too many, vamp films and got carried away within the moment and i am not ruling out the idea that he could have a mental disability of sorts.

Gah I wish I had a link or something but in the 90s there was a supposed vampire cult lead by a teenage boy who killed his girlfriends parents where they lived in florida. it was the subject of one of those true crimes books. I read it, really sad story.

i dont think this has anything to do with vampires or the occult, its just a guy who is very fucked up in the head, nothing more nothing less. this guyz is someone who needs to sit in a padded room for the rest of his life.
