I really wanna know....there are over 6000+ people on VR and you know more then half of them aren't real vampires...what is wrong with a little role playing every now and then...I know that some of the higher status members hate Role players, but if you are not a vampire and you enjoy talking about and even acting like one, role playing is the only outlet you have...please don't close this thread right away cause like I said many people here are not vampires, they just love the idea...

Diego

I can answer that one.

Those who take themselves too seriously...cannot stand those who do not take themselves seriously enough.

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of sites out there dedicated to roleplaying - this is not one of them. This site is meant more for information sharing, as well as socializing and having fun. There is nothing wrong with roleplaying, but it becomes a burden for the information part when half your posters are lying. If everyone knew which threads to roleplay in and which to post seriously - it wouldn't be an issue.

i think role playing in the right situation can be fun but i agree this general discussion area is for more serious conversations...for us to discuss issues and fact..in a truthful manner not a role playing manner..

I have not read a thread yet that had fact and not fiction...nothing envolving vampires has ever been proven so all post are fiction until there is real proof so everyone is role playing in some aspect....

A big problem with role playing here in the main forum is this:

You can't keep a topic going and serious when you keep getting interjected with talks of immortality and being burned by holy water. People try so hard to have intelligent conversations- and we just freakin' wither away as the quality people decide to not visit this forum anymore and we lose out on their valued posts.

I think the RPGers should respect what is OBVIOUSLY not a conversation made for fiction. But they continue to be disrespectful (many of them).

Well things are going to change people... if we have to wipe this slate clean. Nonsense around here better keep to it's place- The Sandbox. When the topic is fiction- peak your head in~ but if we're talking about our human lives, don't bring your fake one into it.

Diego, there is much you do not know about the world you are living in.

lack of fact does not equate role playing. Those threads are discussions, and there are plenty with facts in them. You're rationalizing now to make it sound ok to roleplay when we both know good and well the difference. A healthy discussion is hard to have when someone is posting deliberate nonsense in a factual manner. Sure the extremes are hard to spot, but it's everything in between that makes it annoying.

Haha! Diego, you make a startlingly fabulous point.

Those here get down on roleplaying, saying that it is obvious lies....well...who, exactly, determines what is, and isn't, fact and fiction? Who are you to say that the energies invested in properly made holy water do not degrade and erode the energies of a certain type of vampire? Obviously, someone making an in character post(i have done MORE than my fair share of online and offline RPing) is detrimental.

But you stated that he knows nothing about the world he is living in....well of course not, that's why he is here. I believe it was put that this sites sole purpose is to gather information on vampires, no? Well, as the only true body of work we have on them IS, in fact, FICTION....perhaps those engaging in 'fictious' activities are not as far off base as you would make them out to be?

Just food for thought...not that most of you eat....lil vampire humor there....don't hurt me....

Energy exchange is a fact- not fiction. It's science, even. But humans need not defend themselves here. That's all they really claim to be- human.

I have to agree with Images on this one. Diego, do you not realize that to many here on VR, Vampirism is a RELIGIOUS path that they follow?

I would no more want to see someone stepping into a thread saying, “I’m the son of god!” than I do someone saying, “I’m immortal” in a topic of vampirism. In past there have been threads done for RPG’s that state: ROLE PLAY so people do not take offence at what is said. But to “play” in what to some is a very serious religious, philosophical or historical discussion is immature and rude at best.

It is obvious to many not to do this in a Wiccan or thread about any other mainstream world religion, but this is a site to Database vampires. To QUOTE from the VR main page,

“Vampire Rave was designed as an online resource for the Vampire community. Our goal is to catalog everything there is to be cataloged about Vampires.”

This means that your “play time” in the main forums is turning may people in this vampire community away. It prevents any in-depth conversations about the theological aspects of vampirism and turns these potentially deep conversations into nonsensical garbage.

Actually. heh. To defend Deigo here...he never once said he engaged in the RP. Ergo, it is not HIS playtime, and ascribing the actions of others to him is wholly folly, and rather closemindedand judgemental.

Unless, of course, he HAS been roleplaying on the forums, in which case....Diego, you naughty, naughty little monkey.

To continue....it just seems that when someone DOES roleplay, the community here does not become angry because someone is misusing the forums, but because someone DARES to cast asperisions on their faith(and that, by the by, is the FIRST time I have EVER heard of Vampirism being a RELIGIOUS path. I would LOVE to see something that puts it in that light, so if you have a link, or something, send me some mail.), or rather, their chosen reality.

There's a saying that goes here...

"Methinks the lady doth protest too much."

I completly agree with and absolutly understand the desire(hell, the NEED!) to keep forum posts on topic. I run my own forums on my site, and have to step in from time to time as well. However, getting upset because someone doesn't possess your high level of understanding, and thus, accidently makes light of that which they do not understand, should not lead to any but the lightest of reprieves.

Angry at the ignorant? Then take the blinds from their eyes. No one ever learned anything from an angry teacher.
