not sure if this is the right forum group for this but i wanted to bring this up. I recently watched Bloodrayne (shudder) and it made me think of something. it seems that what has been forgotten is that vampires arent scary because they move fast or are strong. theyre scary becuase of one universal rule. age and treachery beats youth and skill every time. Vampires are scary because they are OLD, and they fight dirty. there arent any rules that they follow. theyre out to win and survive and they will cheat, steal, and lie to accomplish it. even in novels it seems that that has been forgotten. has anyone else noticed this? what gives?
You make a good point, experience and knowledge will win over youth and strength most times because it is an uneven match. But in books they are overlooking this to make their vampire characters popular and thus sell better. Except for Laurell Hamilton even the vampire love interest in her stories is still a deceiving, self-serving jerk.
Good point and a bit enlightening. I think the perplexity of it is that we forget that vamps are old but at the same time it stays stuck in the back of your mind, somewhere along the way while we're thinking, 'damn they're good; we may also be thinking 'even though they're older than dirt.'
Well vampires have probably been around since before Civilization, they just went undocumented.
It is human to become a vampire.
To meet a vampire that came from before there was words or history, when all they did was dance to seduce,
To meet a vampire that mastered ancient tongue
ancient rituals
they probably stalked the earth and weren't sloppy, there just wasn't that many people on the earth.
Oh a Lion got him, look at the torn neck.
Then they'd make the sign for lion and hold their neck.
Must be so; that's how pulp fiction novels and Hollywood depict them... so are we to dispute such reality? ;)
As I was sort of hinting at in another post that was closed (I mean, of course a thread on Vampires would get closed on VampireRave with attitude, duh) there are things unexplained that should or should not be looked into. The easiest thing for anyone to do on this planet is to keep a secret. We are aware of the power of our words when they pass through a mans ears, truthful or not. To put aside the bit of fluff here, and get to my point--If there is something to what the minority of us do here, perhaps it is due to some old knowledge. Maybe this is where things are headed, and we are just being trained for something better. Maybe I just want to be better, who knows.
Get used to that incarnadine, last time vampariah has a profile on this site almost every thread he involved himself in got closed due to his inane and off color comentaries which had no actual value to what was being talked about. He has no idea of how to stay on topic in any thread, not even his own.
but now i'll get back to topic.
there is a certain strength in the concept of not surviving on moral principles, the understanding that at the end of the day(or night as it were) if you are the one still walking then no matter what you had to do was ok, it's not moral by any stretch, but you won...so who cares right?
so now that the point has been completely ignored, i think im just gonna close my thread.
