Shadow of the Vampire was a good movie that went into the making of that silent movie.

All I know is that the Nosferatu are supposed to be ugly (they cannot pass for a normal human) and vicious (they'll kill anyone that they run into, no witnesses!)

Adding to that, Hollywodd tends to portray the Nosferatu as being bald, having pointed ears, and a grayish skin tone. Eli Damaskinos, the vampire "father" in Blade II is a good example of how they are believed to look.
