Okay I was looking up vampiric myths and I found sites that have "how to kill a vampire". Does this outrage you guys? I dont want to hear ANYTHING like "it doesnt matter cuz vampires are not real".
'Once you have determined that you are dealing with the undead, the following information is to help you prevent, protect and destroy your evil demon. Prevention for pre-burial is fun, here is just a sampling of what I found; destroyed vampire that caused death, close all windows, prevent moonlight from falling on the corpse, cover all mirrors, (keep in mind that these are old rituals used when people still buried their own), place corn or garlic in mouth and cover all standing water. Now for some of my personal favorites; pour incense into eyes, nose and ears of victim. Bind the body of the victim by tying the mouth shut, tying legs or feet together, weld the toes together (?), and then wrap in carpet or net. Decapitate the corpse and place the head under the arm or between legs or bury it in a separate grave. The number one favorite to prevent a loved one from becoming one of the undead, stretch a dead cat or dog across the threshold to the house.
If your prevention does not work, then you should try to protect yourself and your loved ones from the same fate. Garlic of course is one well-known method. It can be used on windows, doors, around the neck and under armpits (?); if you mix it with water it can be sprinkled or sprayed throughout an area. Also try fishnets on windows, doors and graves, for some unknown reason vampires are obsessed with untangling objects. Seeds are another way to protect yourself, just sprinkle into yard or walkways; vampires are compelled to count seeds (i.e. the count on Sesame Street). Holy water is yet another popular way of protection. Bells ringing will keep the undead away if ringing constantly. My last suggestion would be placing mirrors on the doors, because, as one author put it, it really annoys the vampire that they cannot see their own reflection. '

im less outraged, more amused that ppl are posting stuff like that online.
I think it is supid! What is the point of it all? DOnt they have lives?
Since the methods of killing are quite clearly based on the mythological undead vampire and not the modern living vampire, why would it outrage someone?
That would go right back to the question of why hollywood vampire poductions upset the modern living vampire as well. To be sure they carry the same name: vampire, but the choice to call oneself a vampire must bear the responsibility and not the folks who follow the longer running myths and legends.
Very well said FelixFelix. I was trying to think of something to say and you put the words right out there perfectly.
Malk I have to agree with you on that one. But it makes for some hilarious reading none-the-less.
I found it to be very humorus. Why be outraged at something so petty.
Well think about it this way..maybe the creater of that site and its members think Vampire Rave should be shut down or not exist.Everyone has the right to share what they think and feel about something.Everyone is entitled to their own opinons on different subjects. If you don't like something...then don't read it...watch it etc.Vampire Rave is a great site...but Im sure there are people out there that wish it wasn't here. You can't stop them from expressing their opinons on the topic.
Thank you. :) see that was the starting point of this conversation I had hoped that someone would put something a little more intellectual and you did it thank you
Also well put DW...... It's hard to come up with something when you all are in my head reading my thoughts :P
the same here darkwolfman..
if a site says something about another site , it could cause slander so id recomend if something was like that id let cancer know and give him the link.. i like vampire rave not just to let some one try to tare it down..
You know there is an orginaiztaion out there trying to ban all Vampire sites such as vampire domain and vampire freaks.
http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/anti-vampire-freaks-faggots-petition.html
go to this. it is a petition against vf not vr
I agree. I know vampires or those who wish to be vampires have every right to have sites up like these. they harm no one and if anyone gets ofended by them, well then look the other way
Every being is entitled to their opinion, however, they must accept the consequences of their actions. We all reap what we sow. Thus, the negative that they breed will turn upon themselves as the demons dance around jubilantly.
VF is just another myspace.
i like the concept but in reality its not much about vampirism.
Its sort of amusing yet really dumb its not true that vampires cant see their own reflection its madening nonsense. Here's why everything either absorbs or deflects light when that happens there is an image, that means that picture and reflections of vampires will appear. Its amusing what belief will make you do anything to protect yourself i guess.
That is why I dont get why anyone wants to close it. But there are some people who take that site a little too far. Along with this site (people were trying to form an army of vampires...)
ChaosxXxVampire,
The site which you have referenced really shouldn't be taken too far out of context. The title for that article is 'Myth & Lore', which, with the overall content, doesn't really aim at being 'anti-vampire' in and of itself.
It's an old site which someone with an interest in the supernatural included a spot about vampires.
Really, it's not currently relevant, nor does it take account of modern interpretations presented by the vampire community itsef.
All of the ways to 'protect and destroy' a vampire, are taken from the fantasy, the myth, as it clearly states, not from a serious 'vampire hunter' point of view.
The fact that few people take the concept of living vampires seriously, actually works in favour of protecting the community, although there are always the schizophrenics who really buy into in this sort of fiction.
What is there to be outraged at here? Nothing at all. Unless one is also totally lost in a psychosis. It's a site where someone pulled together a lot of the rumours, legends and ideas, nothing more.
So I don't see what your point is. Do you have any other examples of serious 'vampire hunter' websites, or is this the only one which you found?
I'd be more interested in discussing those, if they exist.
i get your point. its jsut a little thing to discuss to see if people have an opinion and such on this topic.
