Greetings,

Is there any further difference between so-called Sanguine and Psi-Vampires... besides their feeding habits?

The saying "you are what you eat" comes to mind...

If Sang vampires feed entirely upon blood does that make them more feral, physically stronger and so on...

If Psi vampires feed on energy or emotion, does that make them more prone to emotional imbalance, are they more human in mannerisms, etc

well of course sangs consume blood on a physical level while psi consume energy on a more spiritual level so i would have to agree that how they both digest, intake their different forms of energy is quite different from the other.

And what of the side-affects of such a diet...

Most agree that sang vampires develop somewhat feral natures, instincts... heightened senses and what not...

What of Psi-vamps?

I think Akri put it pretty succinctly in terms of the "you are what you eat".

However, I'd like to make a finer point on the digestive systems of sangs in particular.

When a person drinks blood, even a smidge, the person's upchuck reflex is tickled. So it is remarkable for someone to drink quite a bit more than a smidge, and not vomit shortly afterward.

However, a person can adapt to drinking blood; drinking blood is part of certain world cultures with no overt "vampire" intent. Thus, the only thing truly remarkable about the digestive system of a sang, is if there was absolutely no nausea the first time blood was consumed.

As I see it the main difference is that Psi Vampyres are more open about themselves and their practices. They are really a spin off from the Sanguine Vampyres as they both originated in the same underground social clubs.
Please note that I am referring to the Sanguinarium and House Kephera.

I think the differance between sang and psi aside from feeding habits is the excuse to call oneself a vampire if one does not have the blood thirst.

As for the digestive system, energy has nothing to do with the physical digestive properties, so this should have no context involved when it comes to psi vs sang.

Aside from the common differance between the two are really in my opinion the awareness for the things around them, acute awareness more so than that "mundane" sense of awareness. Awareness above the normal in all situations and circumstances.

Besides the obvious, sang feed on blood and psi feed on energy, you can also take into account the perception of the public.

More people are going to view any human form drinking blood as crazy and mentally unstable. Where they are not going to see the psi feed, so they are going to have the urge just to want to get away from the psi for feeling uneasy around them.

Also if you take it to a fictional realm, sang vampires are considered, more often than not, animals. Where psi is going to be considered more forgiving and cunning.

Heh, sorry Akri; I had to go to work, so I had to do a British drive-by, with the "I disagree!" and running.

Here's a question for you in return; do you consider psi vampires humans but sangs not human?

Interesting, an energy vamp should be more prone to emotional imbalance than a blood vampire, depending on their feeding habits.

Wouldn't go so far to say emotional imbalance whatsoever... the "modern" versions of sang and psi like those participating in this thread, feeding on such for them is something 'extra' not solely what is used to fuel them. I'm not any more imbalanced than anyone else here and the taking of energy is just for that, not that it is needed to survive or used on a daily basis.

very well said DD =)
i actually agree and believe that that is not the only means of supplement for their consumption of energy be it blood or living energy thats transposed from one to another.

it's as different per say a vegetarian and a vegan they both eat just in differrent ways and it's not because they have to eat like that but because they choose so

So what might one think in the differences of one who is strictly sang or psi and one is both? Speaking as a duel person, I know I am very... feral and primal in many senses, especialy when blood is involved. If I draw blood or have my own blood drwan whilst in a fight it gives me a... push as to say over that edge of control. Now as for the Psi... I can and have done both intentional and unintentional. When I feel low, down or weak in general I will take energy from others. But at the same times there are random times where I feel fine and then all of a sudden I am going 9 billion miles a second and everyone around me feels drained literaly and have said so.

I address the following addition;

BloodxXxOverDose - Sire (28)
it's as different per say a vegetarian and a vegan they both eat just in differrent ways and it's not because they have to eat like that but because they choose so
------------------------------------------------------------

You say that being a vegitarian, or vegan or any one of the various diet-groups, does not necessarily show differences in attitude, intelligence or more directly in their digestive systems...

I believe this to be a matter of time only.

A group that feeds exclusively on plantation for so many generations would no doubt adapt to become more suited to the task of doing so.

As with the dinosaurs... herbivores possessing flatter teeth and carnivores possessing sharper ones... diet makes vast difference if time and continuality allow for it.

There is also a question of social dynamics; would sanguine vampires requiring the use of predatory senses and instincts, become drawn to one another in a sort of pack structure... thereby making them more formiddable whilst hunting...

Would a Psi-Vampire become reclusive and single out individuals as targets... preying upon those with stronger energies... would they not develop a special sense for that kind of thing?

Akri

I would have to say that its in personality and attitude.
A sanguine tends to be more out there in the eye where a psy vamp majority I have met tend to try and stay in the shadows as if ashamed of what they do,not saying they are.Just how Ive seen it also sanguine tend to be a lil more show boaty compared to a psy who tends to show more modest natures

Just to agree and add a little.....

When thinking of consuming orally, thats obviously a more physical action than feeding off of the energy on a more "spiritual" level. With that said, it would be my assumption (if I were the type to assume) that a sang would be a little bit more primal and "physical" in nature than a psy which would be a little more reserved.

But on the other hand one can say the reverse. Since a psy doesnt neccessarily have to be physical to feed they can be more out there ie. stage performers. I know I performed on stage for years and before I understood what was happening, I loved the high I got from the crowd and always wanted to be in the middle of the action.
And since the sang consumes physical matter, it would be a more private affair and as a result they would be more introverted with their actions.

Just some other ways of thinking about it.

stage performers tend to feed of the emotion itself that the fans pull off if anything most performers are actually empathic vampires not psy.Although certain types of music I could see pull of a psy vamps buffet such as any good mosh pit xD

Now on a side note someone said something to the effect of psi vs empath.
Now sangs consume blood of course.
Psi's feed off of chi/ pranic energy.
What would empaths, tantric and those that feed of of nature be called. its all a form of energy is it not? and if so what would be different about the way it is cycled through their system as opposed to a psi vampyre?
Im still trying to figure this all out so if someone could clarify for me.
