$50.00
Now- if I can only get him to sign it "To my favorite Rat on VR. Your loving Prince."
lol
J/K
:)
lol, VW! well it looks like that idea is out the window! heh
WOW! You are all so incredible! Do you know how far we can make three hundred dollars go?! One night at the State Park with electricity is $16. Think of the fans I can buy to help people lower electric bills or to use if they don't have AC...fans cost us $12 each. We can use it to purchase food and school supplies. Thank you!
But more than the money...it's more people joining together in a common goal to help others. I don't think my feet are touching the ground today!
Bleeding for you: Thankyou for your interest in the Auction, however the bidding stands at $62.00 for the teeshirt prior to your post, but maybe it is me misunderstanding the situation, and you meant that you wish to donate $30?

Hmm, my budget doesnt go this far, I'm out
Yay! glad to see you having a good time with this !
Here is a wee sneak preview for you all of further items coming up for Auction in the near future
I would like to point out a quick fact. Em, of course I am not taking a point to you, and it might sound that way at first, but hear me out: you said "Joli's charity organization"...now trust me, I know you meant NOTHING bad in saying this....it's just a description, no harm done, but I wanted to make a point to people about why the organization that one of our members works with and for was chosen...why a charity in New Orleans was chosen.
Of course the VR meet-up will be hosted there thanks to Allgenres exhaustive efforts. This is a city that not only needs the tourism, it deserves our love. New Orleans holds a place in United States culture unlike any other; there is NOTHING anywhere like NOLA. And don't believe the bureau of tourism hype. Although New Orleans is open for the business of the world, she is not healed. New Orleans was open for business in some places a week after Katrina not because it was the safest thing to do, but because that is the spirit of the city. That is the soul of people that love the city.
There are some neighborhoods that are still only occupied by single residents. There are many neighborhoods where the makeshift codes to identify home searches are still clearly visible on the outsides of the buildings. You may not see these things on a tourist visit to the city, but this is a city that is still wounded, but is too proud to admit it hurts.
Families lost everything. Many still have nothing. God forbid we had saved the lives of over 2000 people by supplying busses to the inner city poor that were not able to leave NOLA when we knew 5 days beforehand that it was going to hit that city. God forbid we had pressured our government to give those parishes money when we knew 15 YEARS beforehand that those levees were likely to break unless they were t-barred.
WE KNEW. Yes, the way the government handled the situation was appalling and horrid. But at the end of the day Americans need to start taking some responsibility for their own. We the people ARE the government. WE failed New Orleans. If you have any voice at all I urge to to write your elected officials. It IS your problem. And if you have never donated to a charity before and are inclined to do so, I submit that although there are many worthy causes, this certainly is one that should catch your attention. I also know that Joli, Imagesinwords, Soulshroude or several other of our NOLA residents will be happy to direct you to other charitable agencies in the area if you would like to expand your giving efforts. I invite you to look at the Coven of Chateau Orleans here on VR for some background and insight into this unique and amazing American city.
Sevenn's post hits home. My home :) A little about the Center...we are located just north of New Orleans. We have been most impacted by the sheer number of people from the south shore who moved here because their homes were destroyed.
We have a population explosion that can't be accommodated by current means...schools, roads, housing, employment. Since the hurricane, cost of housing has increased by 65%. My community does not have public transportation, so getting to and from work is a real problem for many.
Because there are no shelters here, we use the state parks as makeshift shelters, providing homeless people with tents, coolers, ice, food, bedding, and a few nights of a paid site. We encourage networking with others to try to get rides to places that hire day laborers.
Deaths are rising here, depression is skyrocketing, and my city leads the nation in suicide rates. We're in trouble. But we're rolling our sleeves up and working on it. My community is filled with amazing people with ideas and solutions. We need the ears and pockets of people who will listen and share our vision. Thank YOU for being among those who bring solutions to the table!
Sevenn I am happy you addressed the issues there in New Orleans. Thankyou for that and your input. I for one am a bit gobsmacked that conditions are still bad there so long after Katrina! and its obvious that more financial support is required. We can try to address this issue by giving what we can because so little buys so much for those in need.
*Smiles* "Joli's charity" just fell from the tip of my fingers without thinking heh, and as you say is just my description, but heck isn't Joli doing a fabulous job for her Organisation !:)
I would also like to thank Cancer, for allowing the Auction to continue like this, as without him none of this would of been possible :) I am sure a lot of people in New Orleans will be grateful to him for allowing this.

ooOOoo, I liked that Rat! and the great donation too Thankyou so much! x
Wow! third time around it looks like this is going way up there!
Listen to this guys n' girls - Total raised so far for this tee-shirt is a whooping:
As Auctioneer, I declare that the bid from Bleedingforyou to be invalid, and therefore to be fair I am reverting the Auction to the last bid WEFFIE made at $90.50, and await Oceanne's reply to that.
May I say at this point, please read the thread before you post..
I will donate the shortfall that was created:
Donation $15.00 from me,
BANGS THE HAMMER, GOING ONCE AGAIN!
Thankyou to all for the donations!
Wow, Oceanne! that is incredible.. giving it back once for re-auction was generous, but twice is exceedingly incredible! Thank-you so much doll!
This is exactly what I wanted to see, the same shirt being auctioned again and again. It'll be interesting to see how much that one shirt brings in donations. Way to go, everyone!
Yes, it is super and way beyond any expectations I ever had. Initially I thought the Auction would be over in a day or two, but it continues..
Oceanne, I will be taking a break from the tee-shirt Auction however, and putting in another item prior to auctioning the teeshirt again. I will start the auction again on Monday evening with Master Vampire, Sabastian's hand-made goblets :)
I would like to thank the following people in this thread for their donations:-
