This is something I found a long time ago. I downloaded it from LimeWire I think (virus city). Anyway, I have not tried it. I am wondering if anyone has experience with Hypnotism in any way,m shape or form. Please share you experiences and thought about it.

How to Induce Hypnotism
-----------------------

Now that you know how to talk to your subconscious mind, I will now tell you how to guide someone into hypnosis. Notes that said guide, you can never hypnotize someone, and they must be willing. Ok, the subject must be lying or sitting in a comfortable position, relaxed, and at a time when things aren’t going to be interrupted. Tell them the following, or something close to it, in a peaceful, montionous tone (not a commanding tone of voice).

NOTE: Light a candle and place it somewhere where I can be easily seen.

”Take a deep breathe through your nose and old it in for the count of 8. Now, through your mouth, exhale completely and slowly. Continue breathing long, deep, breaths through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. Tense up all your mucles very tight, now, counting from ten to one, release them slowly, you will find them very relaxed. Now, look at the candle, as you look at it, with every breath and passing movement, you are feeling increasingly more and more peaceful and relaxed. The candles flame is peaceful and bright. As you look at it I will count from 100 own, as I count, your eyes will become more and more relaxed, getting more and more tired with each passing moment." Now, count down from 100, about every 10 numbers say "When reach xx your eyes (or you will find your eyes) are becoming more and more tired." Tell them they may close their eyes whenever they feel like it. If the persons eyes are still pen when you get to50 then instead of saying "your eyes will.." say "your eyes re...” When their eyes are shut say the following: ".... as you lie (or sit) here with your eyes comfortably close you find your self relaxing more and more with each moment and breath. The relaxation feels pleasant and blissful so, you happily give way to these wonderful feeling. Imagine yourself on a cloud, resting peacefully, with a slight breeze caressing your body. A tingling sensation begins to work its way, within and without your toes; it slowly moves up your feet, making them warm, heavy ad relaxed. The cloud is soft and supports your body with its soft texture, the scene is peaceful and absorbing, the peacefulness absorbs you completely. The tingling gently and slowly moves up your leg, relaxing them. Making them warm and heavy. The relaxation feels very good, it feels so good so just relax and let go. As the tingling continues its journey up into your solar plexus (or body)(, you feel your inner stomach become very relaxed. Now, it moves slowly to your chest, making your breathing relaxed as well. The feeling begins to move up your arms to or shoulders, making your arms heavy and relaxed as well. You are aware of the total relaxation you are now experiencing, and you give way to it. It is good and peaceful, the tingling now moves into you face and head, relaxing your jaws, neck, and facial muscles, making your cares and worries flat away Away into the blue sky as you rest blissfully on the cloud...." If they are not responsive or you think they (he or she.) is going to sleep, then add in a "...always concentrating upon my vice, ignoring all other sounds. Even though other sounds exist, they aid you in your relaxation." They should soon let out a sigh as if hey were letting go, and their face should have”woodenness" to it, becoming featureless. Now, say the following "... You now find yourself in a hallway; the hallway is peaceful and nice. As I count from 10 to 1 you will imagine yourself walking further and further down the hall. When I reach one you will find yourself where you want to be, in another higher state of concious and mind. (Count from ten to one)...." Do this about three of four times. Then, to test if the subject is under hypnosis or not, say"...You feel a strange sensation in your (arm they write with arm, the feeling begin at your fingers and slowly moves up your arm, as it moves through your arm your arm becomes lighter and lighter, it will soon be so light it will rise... becoming lighter and lighter which each breath and moment... Their fingers should begin to twitch and then move up, the arm following, now my friend, you have him/her in hypnosis. The first time you do this, while he/she is under say good things, like: "your going to feel great tomorrow" or every day in every way you will find yourself becoming better and better" or something like that. The more they go under, the deeper in hypnosis they will get each time you do it.

What to do when hypnotized

-------------------------

When you have them under you must word things very carefully to get your way. You cannot simply say” Take off your clothes and hump the pillow. No, that would not really do the trick. You must say something like: "you find yourself at home, in your room an you have to take a shower (vividly describe their room and what’s happening), you begin to take off our clothes..." Now, it cant be THAT simple, you must know the persons house, room, and shower room

Then describe things vividly and tell them to at it out (they have to be DEEPLY under to do this.). I would just suggest that you experiment a while, and get to know how to do things.

Waking Up

---------

Waking up is very easy, just said: "as I count you find yourself becoming more an more awake, more anymore lively. When you wake up you will find yourself completely alive, awake, and refreshed. Mentally and physically, remembering the pleasant sensation that hypnosis brings. Waking up feeling like a newborn baby, reborn with life and vigor, feeling excellent. Remembering that next time you enter hypnosis it will become an ever increasing deeper and deeper state than before.

1) You feel energy course throughout your limbs.
2) You begin to breathe deeply, stirring.
3) Beginning to move or and more your eyes open, bringing you up to feel conscious.
4) You are up, up, up and awakening more and more.
5) You are awake and feeling great. And that’s it. You now know how to hypnotize yourself and someone else. You will learn more and more as you experiment.

Hypnosis is a way of manipulating the mind, whether the effect is triggered by a skilled hypnotist, or just by watching the telly. Subliminal messages are a form of hypnosis.

When I hypnotize an individual, they are always fully aware of their surroundings, yet they have not a clue as to the manipulated thoughts I throw their way until they are released from the hypnotic state.

When they are released, they may not believe they were hypnotised. Regardless their belief in the procedure, they may have the symptoms of it in their everyday life. Just because you are not aware of it, once hypnotised, it stays with you until it is released through another round.

There are several staged of hypnosis. Each one on a differant level of deep thinking. Some stay awake, while others go into a very deep sleep. But these procedures are there not for amusement, nor enjoyment or humiliation. Hypnosis is a very serious undertaking and could bring about very critical aspects within the mind. Very dangerous if used with the wrong hands, or from an untrained individual.

I use Hypnosis to help with my sleep problem....

I asked my Therapist to Hypnotize me and give me a "command" that when spoken, will put me in a state where I can finally fall asleep.....

only I know the Command and I only use it when my insomia is really bad.

My mom was hypnotized to quit smoking. It worked for about 8 months, as far as we know. I caught my mom sneaking cigarettes in the basement. She was hiding like I was when I was 11 years old trying not to let mom or dad catch me......Tables have turned a little.

I have heard alot of notions about hypnosis. Some hypnosis seems to work while others do not. The quit smokig only seems to work for a while, though I think it also depeds on how much will power you have. I have not been hypotised myself though my mum got put under once while we were on holidayat a show. It definatety worked because she asked not to be hypnotised. Her wishes was ignored, while the show was funny, she was not when she got told what happened.

It's somewhat difficult to post to this because there really is no question. Hypnosis at this point is still largely unresearched. Even though we have more practitioners than at any other time in history, and the leaps and bounds we have made in psychology, hypnosis still falls into the realms of sorcery to most people. They don't trust it because they are afraid of being taken over.

Oddly enough, they don't fear any of the constant hypnotizing advertisements which have lead most of America into size 44" waists and double sized plane seats.

Hypnosis is all about suggestion and trust. It has to be pleasing to the subconcious, hence in one of the paragraphs above it informs the reader that one can not simply "tell the person to take off their clothes and hump the pillow". If it is not something that is already within the client, the subconcious will reject the suggestion and the client will wake from the hypnosis.

Meanwhile the subject must trust the practitioner, otherwise they will have a very difficult time tapping into their own subconcious.

I have studied hypnosis (so I apologise for not reading your huge initial post) but I haven't tried it on anyone yet, because I want to be sure that I know exactly what I'm doing first. There are many different 'altered states of consciousness' that are reached in many different ways. Hypnotism and everything therein and thereout (which isn't a word, I know) is very complicated and there's alot to it because brains are so complicated.

Hypnotism can be induced as I think you were saying, through a meditative state (which is an altered state of consciousness), but it can also be induced in ways as simple as a 'handshake induction'. We naturally slip in and out of these states all the time during the day, even though we are usually not aware of it. It is during these times that we are making ourselves open to suggestion. Bah there's so much to it, one could post pages and pages of information. I'm not going to, so if you want to know more, study!

Oh and in response to Jesuis's post, it can be possible to make people do those stupid things that they would not normally do if you can bypass their critical factor, or faculty I've also seen it called. This is the thing that acts as something of a filter, it is our morals, allowing in things which we think are alright, and keeping out things that we no like approve of. If you can bypass a person's critical factor, you can suggest to them to do things that they would normally not do.

Hypnotism is a natural state. When you are hypnotised, you will feel very normal, and come out of it feeling as though nothing had really happened differently. Again, I could go on, but I shan't. Blah.

I am familiar with several types of hypnosis, one being self hypnotism, which I am adapt at(raising body temp., weighting my arms/making them light, or stiff..) Stage hypnotism is more showmanship then actual hypnotism.. a subtle variation, clinical use I am not to studied on, mesmerism.. well that I am learned in. My interest in hypnotism started at a county fair, A Jack..(Jaque) Lyndo, performed, and he had books out, so I wrote the title down and got it from the library, I followed a few quack hypnotist, and watched them get racked over the coals by accredited hypnotist, the potential for hack practices is very real.

I personally have not been hypnotized myself but have also heard that it works for some but not others. I have also read that the subject has to be willing and trust in that it will work for them otherwise it will not. So I believe that it is just a tool to open our minds to something that we would not be open to on a conscious level.

Hypnosis has also been used for people who want to know who and how they deceased in their past lives. I myself really do not care about my past life. It is sometimes a struggle to live in this life.

I do however know people who cannot be Hypnosis.

Cherry - You're right. I apologize for being incomplete in my post (and for not getting your complete name in there). Yes you can make the subject do some very silly and abnormal things. In order to bypass that "faculty", you need to introduce it through what McGill called "compound suggestions". That is to say, that one suggestion leads to another which leads to another, and in this way it becomes a natural domino effect on the person's psyche. Eventually, it will be an accepted suggestion, but it's not an immediate effect, and it requires a certain amount of trust from the subject.

Once the first suggestion is given effectively, then the gradual succession of suggestions should be equally trusted and accepted.

it's so interesting to hear about people's experiences with hypnotism!
i've always been fascinated with the mind and it's workings in that area

i too, believe it's all about how strong your mind is, how hard it resists the suggestion

i've never been successfully hypnotized, but i also haven't desired to be hypnotized. my mind rejects the idea of not being in control.

after reading through this interesting thread, i wonder if that could be over come.
like if i desperately desired a command to help me with a problem.. like the chronic insomnia or trouble quitting smoking that have been mentioned previously. i hadn't thought of that before

but i've never had a problem quitting the smokes or overcoming insomnia
yet.

I would say that trance and hypnosis are similar but not the same beast. As was said above, they go hand in hand. A trance is simply being at a certain level of conciousness, whereas the hypnosis actually uses that level of conciousness to attain some form of change.

The best way to make a subject trust you is to establish rapport. This is often easy and you can see it in people having a normal conversation. The simplest way to establish rapport is by mirroring a person's gestures, that way their subconscious brain is thinking, "Hey, this person is like me, I like them!".
Three steps to suggestion go like this...
Rapport - Confusion - Suggestion

Yes, when someone is feeling confused, their mind is suddenly occupied with trying to organise thoughts. You can confuse them by using complicated words all together or by talking faster and not making much sense, then you give them suggestion. :)
A good example is in this Derren Brown video, CLICK HERE (will open in new window), you can see him doing it there. Those three steps in that order.

I have not done self-hypnosis, but I have set myself some 'anchors', and I will tell myself the same thing over and over again until it's stuck in my brain. It is a very good thing to do for yourself, it can make a big difference to your life sometimes.
You must never fill yourself with negative things, and you must also remember that your brain doesn't know how 'not to do something'. For example, you shouldn't tell yourself, "I'm not shy", you should say, "I am confident". I recommend everyone do this if you do not already.

Well I feel that a person can only be hypnotisised if they want to allow their mind to be manipulated and the ones that are easily hypnotised are not very strong minded ( no disrespect to anyone) Just how I look at it I have had people try and well no one has been able to I block and have a strong mind, you have to relax and ALLOW for it o happen. yet why would one want someone to have such control over them is beyond me LOL

It's not to do with whether or not you have a 'strong' or a 'weak' mind. Although some people are more suggestible than others. Many people cannot be hypnotised because they either don't want to or do not feel completely comfortable with it. Everyone, as I said, slips in and out of this natural state all the time. If you cannot be hypnotised, perhaps it is a lack of trust with the hypnotist, or a fear of what you might say or do whilst under.

Cherry's right, but there's also the fact that typically the weak minded are the ones who CAN'T be hypnotized. It is typically the strong willed or very intelligent that are most susceptible to hypnosis. They are the ones that can follow directions (another word for suggestion).

Yes I was not being disrespectful to anyone when saying weak or strong minded... Yet you control your OWn mind so therefore you either are allowing it or not allowing it to be done. Yet some are not strong enough to stop it from happening ... they are relaxed or just not strong enough to block the suggestion as it were... there was no disrespect toward anyone in that statement.

some people can control any and all things with their minds even if they were on drugs LOl it is just a matter of allowing or being relaxed enough to trust what someone else wants to put into your mind ... just my opinion on how I see it.

How is it that a strong minded person would allow one to manipulate them when they are the one who wishes to manipulate others and even themselves. Please elaborate on that .. I think it is important to separate hypnotism from mystic claims, it is rather a bad call to place your self at the direction of someone that will imprint you with potential personality/identity issues. To use hypnosis to guide a person to some spiritual claim, is questionable practice, demystifing hypnosis was the key to having it excepted some what as clinical, yet as soon as it was accepted for clinical use, the mystic pushers.. jump on board. Hypnosism has no occult activity occuring either. Trances are not hypnotism either..

Kryptlove - you're confusing strong mind with stubborn or strong willed - or maybe I'm confusing your meaning.

A person with a strong mind, or strong intelligence is more likely to be able to follow instructions. This is of course once the person who is to be hypnotized has agreed to the hypnosis. This is most desirably attained on a peaceful front.

However, the agreement can occur either conciously or subconciously. On an exteme level we can compare the subconcious agreement to an abusive relationship. Even the strongest of people can be taken in when it comes to an abusive relationship. It doesn't happen over night. See above when I explained the "compound suggestions". The abuser begins with sweetness and kindness. Over the course of the relationship, compounding events will bind the abused to a situation that they thought they would never find themselves in.

The less likely candidate is someone who is dull. It is difficult to get a dim witted subject to follow instruction. They simply don't understand it - no matter how many times you hit them.

Like most things, people that hear claims from people that have not experienced mesmerism, or claim to be (without accredidation) hypnotist, have expanded the definition and claimed benefits to under going hypnotism.. people that place a one time expectation on it will find themselves going to more sessions. With the strenght that performance hypnotism works one can imagine , that people who seek personal entertainment by their beliefs are likely to accept such claims without question, they are pre-conditioned to be suggestable, all that is need to do it, is to attach it to their seeking for sacred sensationalism. They will buy any trinket, or go to any seminar you hold.. even if the smoke and mirrors act gets repatitious, and tarnished they will still praise the act as a wonderous sign..

only their sensational expectations should be exploited, that is worth the price of admission, yet their sacred assurances (as long as they are not pressed on you) are off limits.

With learning such things there is a burden one accepts, and some use that as leverage to exploit others, if someone is using hypnosis, or conscious guiding technices. Then that should come with a clear written statement as to wheat objective is to be met, some hypnotist self claimed, and self accredited, lack the clinical evaluation that others obtain in clinical practice. In crisis situations, it is hard for some to recall, things, that are used for coping, a counter mesmerizing is likely to distract someone long enough to flash a message of reinforced behavior. What is performance hypnotism, the third party excuse to act out, "It is not me who did that crowd act, it was the suggestion of the Performing hypnotist. Mentalist use a variation in their acts.

true but i feel as with all things there is a basic outline of what will and what will not work, thus leaving room for using your own style your own technice if you will, what works for one might not work for the next, trial and error i believe with hands on experience is the best way.

The difference in practice and hype, is in this subtle area, one interpites after, the other fully discloses what the object is. The experience is to be expected by the person undergoing the hypnosis, as opposed to stating what happen by speaking with the person after the hypnosis.

i think the hard part of learning and practicing in real time wouldl be to find a willing subject who would trust you enough to let you try to hypnotize them.

I think the person that tells someone they are going to hypnotis them, and they cannot tell the person what is going to take place prior to the session are gray operators, and I would question their credentials. A practiced hypnotist, is practiced under accountable conditions and have prehypnotised discloser with patients. Those that throw in all the mystic and occult claims are very vague about what is to occur, and what is to be gained by doing sessions.

A comedy club that I used to go to would almost yearly bring in a hypnotist. He would go through a few steps to turn the random crowd plucked members into putty. I remember thinking that is was all just a show, with the participants playing along. But when my own sister was up there and sneezing upon hearing the secret command, I became a believer.

As to if the approach works listed at the top of the thread- I have no clue. But I am sure there are some real hypnotists out there among the fake.

RainWitch, I believe that your sleeping problem can be easily brought back in to balance only if you dedicate about one hour of physical exercise per day to your body. It is healthy, and refreshing for ones bodily systems. Personally, I think that it is such a drastic of a move to try use hypnosis for such problems like irregular, or non-quality sleep or similar, not to mention how unwise, and drastic move that would be, tempering with the mind, programing it, in to something which the mind/person never accepted/mastered on their own, and for such thing as mere sleeping problem, when all such problems can be solved with the power of ones will, and understanding of one self. Not to mention how self non-accepted programmed thoughts like hypnosis have a detrimental unnatural effect on ones deeper mental being function, altering the natural disposition-function of a person toward the environment, and stirring the natural learning process, of one self, and how to adapt on ones own, and advance in ones thinking and understanding, leaving one crippled, programed in to a function, a soulless robot, with out any personal understandings or realization.

i would have to agree with the post above mine,i would definately try to remedy your sleep loss yourself prior to using hypnosis though sometimes listening to relaxing music can calm the mind in such a way that the body goes to sleep.

This is a funny thing but it works for me when I can't fall asleep. It's something like an induction, but it's one sentence to tell yourself that makes your brain go ".....", well mine does anyway. Well it's usually doing that but anyway...
Just "look inside yourself".

I am going to be the bearer of bad news but hypnosis is not complicated or hard..The induction i read way above would work to put someone into hypnosis due to the fact the person used a relaxation induction along with a eye fixation technique. I do not recommend the relaxation induction because you do not know if your client/ subject is under hypnosis or simply sleeping. There is a vast difference between sleeping and hypnosis. Hypnosis is not REM sleep. In hypnosis your subconscious can take in new information and it will stick, hence why hypnosis works.. A hypnotist is simply a coach to help you reach the state of trance, they can help deepen you and instruct you but here is the real secret, YOU do all the work. All hypnosis is in real simple words is giving your a lot of message units so it will go" I am outta here " and go in fight or flight mode. When the mind is in the state of hypnosis a hypnotist can tell your subconscious mind that when you smell cigarettes you will not want one cuz it makes you a bit nauseated. Hypnosis is not mind control, The hypnotist can not make you rob a bank.. You can not do something that is beyond your morals and values.. You can not rob a bank under hypnosis unless you wanted to rob the bank already. If you truly want to lose weight then hypnosis can help because you wanted to lose it in the first place.. if any of this doesn't make sense then you can message me direct.. I am a Certified Hypnotist CHT. Glad to really explain it fully.Oh and for all those who want to know how stage show hypnotists do it it is called a rapid induction.. Does not take long and i for sure can explain it to you.. I am always glad to talk hypnosis to you..

So if someone claims to be a mechanic, and you bring a car to their shop for a dignosis, and they tell you they will run a few test on it and tell you what is wrong, and then send you on your way, but say you ask, for a ball park of what they are likely to find, and then what to know their qualifications of working with a car such as yours, and they tell you.. I have seen people work on these cars before, I hang out with people that talk about working on cars like that.. are these things you want to hear, from a person claim to be a car mechanic? He may even tell you he read a few good text books about working on that type of car..

I can remember a real long time ago when a teacher had all of us close our eyes and try to visualize what she was talking about. She went into great description with a story about walking into the kitchen and opening the fridge. No one thought anything of this exercise until she described what we were talking out of the fridge and biting into. Everyone could taste the fictional lemon though, it was so weird. She told us this was called "Mind over Matter." Would this be considered a form of hypnosis? Because no other method of hypnosis has ever worked on me, no matter how hard my friends have tried..... so naturally I've had doubts about when others have had success hypnotizing them (my friends, that it).

That is guided visualization, increased by the confidence the student has to the teacher, I would say that is a cool teacher..

The Revival Preachers use a very devious form of hypno/mesmerism, I will post those examples as I find them.

Here is a link, not the first part, but the second part dealing with peter Popov..

http://blog.wired.com/tableofmalcontents/2007/03/james_randi_exp.html

This is using information gained under false pretense to exploit a persons faith, with sensational, and astonishing performances. Using mesmerism, and speaking in suggestible narratives.

It is easy to create something that will pass as hypnotism.. though it is usually detected by the variations of claims. If something as simple as light as a feather stiff as a board works, that is one thing that can be classified as hypnotism, wait out side a main door to a building, and see how many people wait with you, without checking the door. Subtle gleaning of people that would be performers in a hypnotist show, they are selected, on their presence. Cueing that behavior, and aligning it with a third party degree of removal. Very few stage performers invest much in clinic claims for hypnotism, and those that do tend to gravitate to occult/mystic interpitations.

This got mixed in the wrong thread..

The assumed one stop fix that is alluded to in most practices is what draws people to the shop, so that is marketing and promo.. then it is showman ship when you get through the doors, very few clinical practices remain any more, as the fly by night "training coarses" are exposed by their former clients.

I find knowledge at the library, and I store it in the mass between my ears.

i beleive personally that it is possible for one to get hypnotized even without them realizing it such as auto-hypnotism
i find that the more willing to learn are far easier and suggestable to hypnotism.

Dabbler..you do make a very valid point with the difference between clinical hypnosis and the entertainment type...those are two totally different types with a different end result.

However, with either one, I believe in order for it to be successful is for the one being hypnotized to have an open mind.

Hypnosis is different in the entertainment field then the clinical field. Hypnosis is not difficult or to hard once you get past the basic information about how the brain works and what inductions suit people.. I am a Emotional suggestible which means if someone told me the door was open i would get up and close it. If i was a Physical suggestible then i would look up and notice the door and go yeah it is. I am trying to put all of this in real simple terms..The mind numbing clinical terms can boggle the mind. Me being a Hypnotist for over 6 years i see lots of people with different problems, some as common and weigh loss and some as hard as fears and phobias. Hypnosis is simple once you get past the as i put it the doctors terms. Can someone be tricked into hypnosis, yes i have heard of it and saw it once from someone i knew. I would not trick anyone into hypnosis just for the fact that is is morally wrong.

Hypnosis can be fun when used right.. At a party With the persons permission mind you is fun.. But the danger part of hypnosis is when a hypnotist goes to a club or bar and hits on someone and tries to Hypnotize the person without their knowledge or agreement. If the victim does not know that the person is a hypnotist then they do not know it if they are being put under until it is to late. Such a big NO NO!!! Some hypnotist get on a power trip and go to clubs and meeting place knowing that there will be single people all nervous meeting someone new and the bad hypnotist can really do damage if used badly. But theses are rare occurrences and i only heard of it happening once from someone coming to me for help.

well I still feel a strong willed or strong minded person is less lickly to be hypnotized, due to the fact they may follow directions as you put it yet, they also will know if they wish to do it or not. as also was stated it has to be Allowed for one to be hypnotized.

To use for phobias ans stuff I feel is a great use of the hypnosis.

Interactivity is required for hypnotism, a crowd can be mesmerized, even Hitchcock did that. so the interaction in a performance show, is usually crowd dynamics laid at ease for entertainment purposes, studing the sitter, and finding a role for them, one that they would consider already, only packaged by a third party.. Any thing done co-operativly for the performer is excused from the person by transference, The bad or hack practices are short jab practices. Investing to much into hypnosis, or going into it without a clear discription is discouraged, any clinic, will define the clients expectations, and answer questions with regards to the objective. Anybody that pushes a series of sittings and has no confincing reason aligned with your objective, is likely a hack.. looking for referals (not the ones provided by the clinic, try doing Business as files. Like Mechanics only trust one that has an open shop policy.

That difference is pass life regression (as in your real life currently) not to be confused with past life, or seeking spiritual access through the mind.

That is the high jacked aspect of hypnotism, all the self declared past life regressionalist are out there attaching claims of occult nature to something that is the mind. If past life exist then it would be in accessing the soul, not the mind.

I have followed cases where alternative spiritual practices caused problems, cults know to well the effects of such things.

I once went to a hypnotist to stop smoking. Being I've always beena skeptic about hypnosis I figured it wouldn't work. My parents were open minded to the idea. Half way through this guys seminar me and my Dad were trying to keep our eyes closed and not laugh at my Mom for she was snoring!!!

It's my opinion that you have to have an open mind to hypnosis, otherwise it's a waste of time.

Ty For letting me reply still.. The most likely reason you and your dad weren't going under was because you truly believed it wouldn't work. You didn't want it to work( hence the laughing). You most likely thought it was bunk. If you do not truly desire to be put under then you will not be.. If you want to quit smoking and you come to a Hypnotist that means you have a open mind and you are willing to be put under.. I turn away clients if they truly do not want to quit smoking but they only came to make their spouse happy.. They do not really want to quit really they are only coming to appease the partner. Usually if a client comes to a Hypnotist office then usually they have tried to quit themselves and can not.. You see they have the drive to quit but need help in the will power department..
