I do not feel that people are rating fair. I have talked to everyone who has not rated me a 10. I have asked the reasons for the rate and what I can do better.

I have gotten nothing but attitude from a lot of people. I admit I give attitude too. When I am rated something like 3 I know that I am rated it for bullshit reasons.

I have been told that I will not get a 10 for the following reasons:


Being a Satanist

Being a Juggalo

I have disabled Right Click

I have green font on a black background and it is hard to read.

I have pictures that I didn't create

I talk about the rating system

Someone they know has issues with me

ETC.



The list goes on with bullshit reason. The rating system for profiles should be completely removed as it only allowing people to tell people that they need to convert and be more like them. I don't see a fair rating system here.

Why do people get upset when someone wants to know why they rated something? Why do people have to sit there and say shit like "Why does it matter?" It wouldn't matter so much if the rating system wasn't there but it is.

Down rating someone because they utilize premium features is a sign of jealousy.



I understand that Cancer has not set a certain way to rate and allows people to have their own way. Common courtesy states that you should not rate for bullshit reasons. Leave your problems out of the ratings. Leave your personal opinions of religion, politics, labeling, etc out.


This is a fair rating system.

Does it look good and is it cleanly placed? Was there time put into it? Are things aligned properly? Does it outline the person well? Is there a balance of images and text or is there too much of one? Where opinions are stated is there research? ETC.....



Who hear has had issues with people rating low for the most asinine reasons?
What are they?
Does anyone think the profile rating system should be gotten rid of?



Those who feel the urge to post stupid responses like "Deal With It" or any other that depletes the purpose of this thread, DO NOT POST.

for me a fare rating is not liking or disliking the information and downrating because of something said,as i know we all are different and have different views on life.
i rate fare in that if the profile is designed good and not stretched out to far or if the colored text matches good then i give a 10

i am a very good rater i believe,theres only a very few who have not gotten a 10 from me.

As I state on my profile, I tend to view pages through the eyes of an artist/designer. I look for originality in content and design. Although I would love to give everyone a "10", it would not be fair to those who obviously work hard on their profiles. I consider my ratings fair and within the guidelines of VR.

If there is but one to a few lines of information, all you do is rant and rave and/or use profanity every other sentence, have a negative attitude and complain about ratings or you are a new member and your profile is in the works, look for 7 or 8.

If I can see that you've taken the time and effort to write something about yourself, have a decent setup that is organized, have gone above and beyond the proverbial "one liner" and the many space fillers such as quizzes, expect a 9 or 10.

On a side note, I did give you a 10 rating.

I really want to stress the question:

Who thinks the rating system should be taken out or at least made so it isn't required in leveling?

If it is not a requirement in leveling people will only rate if they feel they want to. It "wouldn't matter".

Not to be confrontational, but why do you care if someone rates you a 10 or a 1? If you're a 5 or a 9, you can still level up to obtain more privileges. If it is a matter of ego, are you trying to impress faceless internet relations? Or are you here to enjoy your time on the Rave?

Cancer created the rating system for his own reasons, and if it is removed I think that obtaining privileges would be far too easy.

I think the Rating system is Fine..
It's the ppl that are having a problem w/ it.

I for one think it's getting Old but I know it will probably continue like this until everyone comes together..

I Revenge Rated when I first got here but since then have calmed the Rage issue,, now understand Rating is there for a reason..
If it bothers ppl so much just don't Rate the person you think offended you..
My Opinion ..

As a requirement, I think it should stand. Perhaps not in the sense of number rating, but at least to get a Member who is serious about being a Member at VR more involved.

Besides, the rating system (as a requirement of leveling) might lead others to your page who have the same views and beliefs as you.

Perhaps, along with the number rating, there should be another sub-rating to show why you gave a particular rating--such as:

1) Incomplete
2) Too many pictures and no content
3) Too many quizzes and pictures
4) Inactivity
5) There is nothing about the profile holder

If you don't care for their opinion regarding your rate, then why ask them for a reason as to why they rated you what they did?

I am as upset about the rate as I am with the way people react to me trying to find out what I can do to make the page (how to make any page) look better. When people don't want to discuss it and be a complete fucking retard, i do get pissed.

Let's put it this way I am on a mission and those that rate the profile low without giving me reasons takes away from my mission. Just the same as Cancer just might be on a mission with the rating system of profiles and those not rating or rating stupidly may take away from his mission. The difference is I try to talk to people about it (I probably have more time).

And once again, the rate is not about how I interact with you. It is about the page. Get that through your heads people. Rate the page not a conversation I had with you.

personally i rate not who you are and what you stand for, but how much effort you put into expressing yourself.

most people here rate nicely and fairly a small minority do not

i don't believe anything should be changed in the rating system, but i'm of the mind that i am not defined by the rating of strangers.

well i for one care about what rate i get too from fellow members and it has nothing to do with having a ego,the rating system is part of vr and should be used in a manner that is correct when one rats anothers profile for apearance and for style not for rating low because you dislike the content or the context of another members profile.

i for one find it petty when any member downrates another just because they are not fond of their topics that they speak about.

yes we all have the right to rate whowever we want but..but wouldnt it be better to use the rating sytem the way it was meant to use in rating good scores to good designed prfiles and not just rate low because the option is there?

personaly i rate good but if i rate low i leave a message for them to notify me when they update their profile so that i may re-rate acordingly.

If you personally do not care about the rating system....

DON'T RATE

period, suffer the consequence of not leveling up... if you truly don't care you won't get involved ... if your level matters to you then you will rate honestly and fairly

Are people rating others low because their profile sucks and they want a chance to get to the top?

The rating system is here because it's a good way to get favor of the prince and to help circulate people around to other's profiles. It's just a rating, it's not going to ruin your life on VR. It's not like it's going to make people think any less of you or bring down your status. It's just how people personally think of your profile. Respect their oppinions and be open about it. If you're really upset about it then just rate them what you think they deserve and leave it be.

I personally think it would be fucked up if you got rid of the rating system. So many people have worked hard on rating profiles. My girl XTCraver has rated god knows how many profiles and it takes a lot of valuable time to do that. She is also helping me with my profile ratings. Don't say you want it to be removed, that would be fucked up.

and people are not rating by what the page is worth, that is the issue.....

I rate on the material that they put on their profile, little or to many pics will not get a good rating from me. like to read a little of the persons insight of themselves. Do not care about religion factors or emo or whatever. If aperson has developed their page i do rate them high for this.

Yeah, I think the main pet peeve for people and rating is either too many pictures (because it takes forever for them to download when viewing the page and takes forever to actually try and rate the profile) and a lot of quizes, those things are just lame.
What people are really looking for is creativity and information.

I'm surprised this thread has lasted so long.

A rating is a personal opinion, if we were all rated what we thought we should be what would be the point?

Who cares, not everyone is a 10.

P.S It's set up how Cancer wants it which means the ratings are perfectly fine how they are.

I typically do not rate. It is not really something I enjoy.

But when I do, I rate based on what I like, the effort, and whether or not it catches my interest, or raises my ire. Actually the same goes for forum threads.

Perhaps people do rate your profile.....based on what they like or do not like.......and that is fair within the guidelines of VR.

As for changing the guidelines, this is Cancer's site, he will do as he wants, as he sees fit to make this site a good one.
If you do not or can not agree, there is a delete button on the profile.

Cancer has said time and time again, that ratings will not change.

All ratings between a 1 and a 10 are technically fair.

People are allowed to rate as they choose, and or change rates as they choose. While I do appreciate the discussion you are attempting to have, my point is this: The system is going to remain as it is. Any complaints or wanting to change it at this point is moot.
